  1. Tap on the axle with a piece of wood as a buffer while holding out on the lower part of the hub so that the axle has room to move.

I just like the way black looks on silver. My winter wheels are black too. And I got a great deal on these, so it was hard to pass up.
  3. Very nice! I have actually considered doing this to mine too. What prep did you have to do for it to stick? And yeah, aren't those Kartboy hangers great?!
  4. +1. Listen to the people that have done this time and time again. You're making this way harder than it actually is.
  5. Well disconnecting the sway bar would be a huge help, so see if you can borrow the right socket, or wrench. As far as the punch, try a pair of dykes, or diagonal wire cutters, grab the punch with them, and pry against the axle cup and it should pry it loose. Or maybe tap on the roll pin and see if it will punch the punch back out.
  6. Put it through the knuckle first. Undo the sway bar where it connects to the control arm, and you have the inner control arm bolt removed right?

    New wheels today.
  8. Replace the turbo with a stock one, possibly even replace the injectors with stock, as they might be too much for the small turbo, and then GET A TUNE! If it has a bad tune, or no tune at all with that aftermarket stuff, you are asking for your motor to die.
  9. remove the inner control arm bolt, and the swap bar where it connects to the control arm, that gives enough swing for the axle to be removed from the hub.
  10. TD04 would be stock. You can find them for under $150 used, and if there is a new one for that little, it is most likely a cheap off brand that you don't want.
  11. A t3 or t4 would not be bolt on. Sounds like you have a bunch of research to do. If you put on a different turbo than what was on there, or different than stock, you also need to have it tuned. There is really a fair amount involved with all of this, so make sure you learn as much as you can about your car, and what it had/has.

Nice pics! I like the look of those tires. I wonder of they make them in a 16". Pretty sure the 215 70 16's I'm running are about the same as the size you're running. Does the offset bother you at all? That's one thing that I don't like the look of with mine, the wheels sit in too far, especially the rear. I have thought about eventually swapping to GD style control arms and lateral links to widen it out a bit.
  13. Glad you got it worked out! I thought that might have been the issue after you posted about the different plugs/terminals. It just made me remember the issue I had.
  14. It would be worth checking. And I may be wrong about it, I just know that I had to mess with them on my Brat.
  15. That may be your issue. The connectors may not be in the right positions in the plug. I ran into this when I used that type of headlight. Do you know if they worked right before you swapped them out?
  16. Looks great! I actually had the same idea for paint when I had those style wheels. Any plans for any lift?
  17. Lol, it used to say "I'm an rump roast" under GeneralDisorder, which was usually quite fitting. But he is right, you really NEED to remove the oil that comes on rotors.
  18. As he stated, he has bigger tires, so the actual speed was 65mph, but his speedo showed 60mph. Congrats on the trouble free trip!
  19. This happened in a friends Impreza sedan. I just removed the rear seats, crawled in, and was able to open the trunk.
  20. I pulled out a 1/2 ton 4x4 Chevy out of some mud on an old neighbors lawn, then backed into the ruts he had made and pulled his other 1/2 ton 4x4 Chevy with a 7 1/2' plow, and pulled that out too. That was with my 89 touring wagon with 2" lift. Those were the biggest things, but pulled out plenty of other vehicles too. With my Brat I pulled out a full size tree truck stuck on a muddy lawn. This was a big diesel, with 55' boom, and dual wheels. I was on tar on that one, so had lots of grip, but I was still smoking the tires in lo. I love proving people wrong with my little Subarus!
  21. 05 WRX is a 2.0 and came stock with the TD04 turbo. Any 02-07 WRX, 04-08 Forester XT will have the right turbo for this. In 08 the WRX's still had the TD04 but it was a different style so it won't bolt on. And yeah, may want to check for other damage if it was that oil deprived! Those turbo motors, especially the 2.0 do not like to be run low on oil at all!
  22. Yeah the general consensus about newer gen and offroad is that the autos are awesome. I have one in my Forester and it's great! I agree that a cooler might be a good upgrade. Heat is what kills automatic trannys.
