  1. yeh you might want to consider a webber if your looking for a bit more power but if u live in Cali or another 'nazi' emmission state i dont think they will let you
  2. urm yeh but dont think its easy to rebuild one, i have heard of ppl rebuilding them like 3 times b4 they get it right. They seem to be a bit tempremental.
  3. i think the xt6 maf is bigger and can be hooked up, after doing a qik search it mite not work either
  4. well you learn u something everyday, heh maybe i aint as knollegable as i think i am
  5. right next to the relay's on the bit of body right or left (for you yanks) to steering column and above accelerator? Hmmm it not very easy to compare aussie soob to an american one. Do they reverse the pedal box aswell e.g. is your accelerator on the right?
  6. just make a new account with the nickname you want to change it too
  7. Where is the stock location for the int. wiper module I need a ball park location to start my search for its plug.
  8. well in australia yeh i supose it, i dont see why the p.o. would change out the switch
  9. Yeh if your advance diaphram cant hold a vacuum its stuffed. They can be rebuilt tho. Turbos use a crank angle sensor which uses the ecu to work out the avance so yes there is a difference between them, its not there
  10. As the title indicates i am setting up some intermitent wipers on my brumby without them. I have the int. switch and int. module. Could anyone tell me if the same wiring loom in was used in dl or gl or was there more than one loom used in production? Cause I have the forth wire running to the wiper motor suggesting that atleast some of the wiring is in for the int. wippers. What would be ideal would be there already a plug under the dash for the module and just have to swap the switches. I have a 6 wire int. module and 6 wire int. switch. Any help/advice would be muchly appreciated.
  11. hehe there is a 1600 4 door sedan parked down my street a bit. Oh and sorry to hijack but are they the same length as brat doors on the coup that is?
  12. The spfi pistons are taller with same stroke and bore as ea81. Its either 9 or 9.5:1 compression instead of 8:1 or something in that order for ea81. Yeh there are heaps of high comp. n/a ea81 runnig spfi pistons.
  13. cmon could u please get some photo's of your setup?
  14. My Gregory's service manual indicates a maching limit of 0.5mm. But I would wait for someone to come in with a fsm limit.
  15. the ea81 bracket bolts to the left hand side of the engine if that helps, your guys driver side.
  16. Like gettin to the tops of your wheels is gettin deep for a stocker. When approching a water corssing have a little bit of speed as u want to make a bow wave. You have to try to not overrun or let it it get away fromm you. Keeping the peak of the wave just infront of your bumper makes a depression arround your wheels making for the lowest waterline in engine bay waterlines.
  17. Have you checked out the horn contact under the steering wheel cover. Mine had losened making for an intermitent horn. You might also want to use a relay if your "highway blaster" draws allot than the stock horn.
  18. i dont know what colour it is but just get a light bulb or led solder to wires to the terminals and poke one into each of the connectors with the other wire touching some metal on your car. when it lights up you got your 12 volts supply. Have the keys in it to:).
  19. So your engine is gettin hot and you want to like run the heater hoses through the air con rad? Hehe i think you should try and find the cause of your overheating instead of make a band aid fix like that. Your radiator is probably the orriginal one it came with from japan and probably gunked up. I live in queensland so its hotter up here and my new rad it kepping it under half all this summer. Your thermostat might also be locked hal shut or something.
  20. What wheels you using? Cause if there not stockers you might not have centred them well last time u change it? just a guess
  21. spfi and mpfi both came out of the factory with more ponies than the carb version. so efi is more powerfull and more efficient. the electronic carbs is ment just for emission controlls and was produced for "emmission nazzi" states like California. i have heard you can just disconect the computer and it will still run fine. But in Australia do we get them?
  22. if your pullin an ea81 one in the later years they started using a smaller carb base so therefore smaller footprint on manifold, well thats in Australia anyhow.
  23. yeh I second that the t-stat is the issue. Does it take ages for the engine to heat up? The thermostat is located on the right hand side of the inlet manifold on ea81s, basically its under the housing where the top radiator hose goes. Make sure the t-stat hasnot fallen out of its notch before you bolt the housing. You should also use a new gasket.
  24. http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~camncath/retrofitting_the_weber_dgav_32.htm has A description but I decided to take mine to a mech. as carbs are too complex for me:0
