Tranny Drain Plug Seal same as Engine Drain Seal
BobBrumby replied to BobBrumby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
nah its a 4spd manual and i have now found out that its a 21mm drain plug but i supose it has a different seal aswell. cheers for your reply:drunk: -
my sterio got stolen out of my brumby. atleast i got the "pro" theives so they didnot do any damage to the lock e.g. coat hangered the door. All though they did completely destoy my centre console, where the radio sits. This was cheap cd changer and wouldnot hold radio preset or remember what track you were on unless you wanted your battery drained in a night. I just hope the drug dealer they hocked it too gives them a beating for supplying faulty merchandise:rolleyes:.

Has yellow and black wires running to dist.
-
For the first time on my 1990 burmby I pulled the dist cap and found a little 'black box' in there instead of the old contact breaker and has the two wires from the coil conected to it. The 'black box' doesnot have any contact with disty shaft and vacum advance rotates the plate the 'black box' is mounted on. Is this an electronic dizzy? Do i need a special cap and rotor for it?

well the first muffler on my burmby is rattling, like stones in a tin getting shaken, anywere over 3000rpm. I got quoted $70 for just a generic one, you guys recon there will be any difference in performnace/ecocnomy with a un-baffled one? the rear muffler has been replaced with a 2" in and out. Also running a 32/36 holley

in australia they started adding ethanol to cheaper petrols to make it cheaper as we can make it from sugar cane. but the downside to this remakable fuel is that some of the seals in engines are not designed for it and cracked. maybe you should consider this ey? can u use methanol?

Sherpa,.. Anything i should be aware of
BobBrumby replied to ausubaru92's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i think they have a 2 cyclinder 2 stroke engine in them, about the power gains you might have to do some trailblaizing as not many ppl on the board have them. -
when i removed my centre console so fix sterio i found that the previous owner had zip tied and glued the 4 lo switch back into position. maybe you could give that a try if you cant go pull one.

The valve is meant add air to the exhuast so unburned fuel can be burnt off in cat, so would plugging the valve make the cat run cooler? These valves fail from time to time you should goto a junkyard and pull one. Yeh plastic in the carb: i have heard can be very annoying.

Does anyone know how much current the starter soleniond draws, when starting. i currently have a toggle switch rated at 30A hooked up but this is a bit hairy at times when the brumby fires up early or later than usual. i am gunna replace it with a push button.

Was this with the MSD Blaster Coil cause I just got the stock coil.

My gregory's manual atucally calls for 0.7-0.9mm gaps which is quite a bit less than 0.044" or about 1.1mm. What will running these plugs do?
-
dam they are gapped right for my brothers suzuki swift, same plugs
-
I got some NGK BP6Es spark plugs for my subaru brumby but they are gapped at 0.9mm or 0.035433". Arenot they meant to be 0.044" and will running these plugs do anything bad?

Lightening EA81 flywheel
BobBrumby replied to Phizinza's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeh heavier flywheels make more tourque whereas light ones make hp. But if you lighen the flywheel too much it can appearently "fall out of its powerband". -
What all is interchangable....
BobBrumby replied to regularman's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeh ea81s have the same bore and stoke as spfi pistons (ea82) as they are used in peformace ea81 builds. obviously the cams and rest of valve train is different (ohc, ohv). Yeh i think only the pistons and conrods are the same. -
oem gaskets are of higher quality than aftermarket ones and will last longer
