  1. there is a link on the bottom, I have not tested it. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/105484-factory-service-manualea82/?hl=%2Bea82+%2Bservice+%2Bmanual
  2. there is a partial copy of the factory service manual online that you can download for free. If I recall it is for a 89 GL but the gasket/seal info should be the same.
  3. crazy! glad you are OK, good story for the cut on your forehead!
  4. it depends on what part of the country you are in, in the Northwest you could get around $1000 in described condition. but in the rust belt you might get closer to $2000 because they are rarely in no rust condition. without pictures it is really hard to gauge price this is my opinion and does not represent actual sales data..
  5. It sounds like the radius rod bolt is not all the way on, the easiest way to get it installed all the way is use a set of ramps to elevate the front and tighten the bolt with the suspension at the normal compressed level. Check your bushings too worn out bushings could display the same symptoms. Stay away from Led Schwab for alignments they did one for me after I did my five lug swap and eyeballed it in the driveway, nothing was changed and still charged me $70.
  6. I couldn't agree more, I think that this could be a lower cost/simpler approach to stand alone engine management for those that do not want/need all the extra options and added expense of currently available systems. I try not to pass judgement on this forum but the anonymity that the internet generally provides I can see how some might be skeptical. It certainly sounds like your background and past experience will definitely help you through the design and implementation process. Good luck and I am excited to see what you come up with. Ben
  7. Here is what the DOL says about insurance... LINK Horseless Carriage is the the only vehicle other than state owned, self-insured companies/persons or motorcycle type vehicles that do not require insurance but the RCW that they cite says nothing about an insurance exemption. you are lucky I had a 5.0 Mustang straight out of high school and I was paying $350/month for insurance 15 years ago. back on topic, $2 per month for insurance (that is what it costs in addition to my other vehicle) $65 per week for fuel $50 per year for registration No emission (smog) out where I live overall cheap to operate, but I have paid my fair share of high costs to drive what I wanted to when I was younger.
  8. Probably more than you want to know... Link not sure if it directly pretains to the diff that the OP is using, but lots of info just the same.
  9. looks good! I like those corner lights too.
  10. the TOD I had was still there after I installed a new oil pump and put it all back together and took it out for a "spirited" 10 minute drive and when I returned it was gone. It's almost strange the first time you hear it running with out all that noise.
  11. yup thats how it started for me... I need to get out and drive it! It doesn't seem like it has been this long dealing with this swap... oh well
  12. Yes, if they fit a 93-94 FWD Impreza it will fit. I currently have these installed and they work fine (mine are empi).
  13. I guess I should have added I was getting cam position sensor codes.
  14. compression check? The only reason I ask is that when I did my ej swap I replaced the timing belt and had the cam gears off a couple teeth re timed the cams and it fired right up.
  15. this weekend yielded a small amount of work on the wagon. I finally figured out my starting issue, I think it was a defective starter solenoid coil and I also found a melted terminal on the ignition switch connector, it seems to be just fine with a new(different) starter and wiring around the melted plug. installed my caster rods with new whiteline bushings I also had a strange idle surge that I could not pinpoint, while investigating my starting issue I realized that when I installed the EJ harness I inadvertently connected the ECU start signal wire to constant 12V+ which might also explain my poor fuel economy now it idles smooth and quiet like it should. we shall se how the fuel economy fairs after I put some miles on it. Hopefully I will have some time tomorrow before work to get some things done weather permitting of course.
  16. I also have a header from subie101, when I built my mid pipe assembly I used a universal catalytic converter with a integral o2 sensor bung and then an additional one after the cat. I just drilled a 3/4" hole and welded the o2 bung on the pipe. I was able to pick up a weld in bung with a plug from amazon for $10 link [the thread pitch and diameter is the same as OE replacement sensors for a 97 Legacy] it would probably be easier/better/smarter to just run the o2 sensor. plus no CEL would be awesome... (my CEL is not attributed to the oxygen sensors) Ben
  17. if it is an ea82 that is very unusual... to be doing 95mph
  18. you will not find one that is for a loyale. that kit is not directly compatible, but it can fit.
  19. if you get the sleeves it is a simple matter of replacing the stock springs with those sleeves. the ones you linked to can work but you need a lot mote mods to make it work. search for coilover sleeves there a few members that did some really good threads on this very subject. happy hunting
  20. maybe I should clarify. coilover sleeves with stock struts will work. Like these: sample those coilovers you provided the link to will not work without lots of modification.
  21. simple answer NO. coilover sleeves and stock struts. coilover sleeve kit for an impreza or legacy will fit. the front coilover will not fit unless you redrill the holes for the top plate and you have EJ or XT6 front five lug swap the EA and EJ strut mounts are completely different
  22. I wouldn't run the sealed bearings without at least pulling the seals off and adding grease, typically the grease that is in the bearing is inadequate for long term bearing survival. If it were me I would run new unsealed bearings, plenty of grease (but not too much) and new seals. the grease flows through the bearings at temperature keeping them from overheating/scorching. I would prepare for doing your wheel bearings sooner than you would have just using grease and open bearings. Get some good rubber gloves NAPA has a brand they call Thickster and they are thicker and less prone to ripping and the long cuff makes for less clean-up. My .02 Good Luck
  23. Just got the app for my phone, includes pictures pretty cool. Hopefully they keep it up to date.
