  1. I have the mold from my scoop still I can bang out a few copies if anyone might be interested. pics in the gallery
  2. Yeah I don't think 29's are going to be easy to stuff under that
  3. 170! kmh which is just over a 100mph, could go faster I'm sure but I really don't like the feel of my car at that sort of speed.
  4. maybe CDN eh, I've seen a few on the Island but all were turbo full time 4wd. A raised roof wagon lifted would look cool.
  5. Hey Simon I myself wouldn't mess with the boost untill the fall when it's cold, yeah you could turn it down but I don't think many boost controllers will go lower than the stock 7-9 psi. For the money I'd have my rad flushed, hoses all checked and some good oil in. If you still are worried that it's getting to hot reduce the timing by a couple of degrees. As far as when the turbo kicks in rpm wise do you have a stock exhaust? Those old cats can cause alot of havoc with excessive exhaust backpressure.
  6. 4.5 hours at Skookumchuck must have been unreal! Someday I'm going to get it together and session that place. The closest mill to Quadra is Elk Fall Norske pulp mill just across the water outside of Campbell River. I try to stay out of the mills unless it's new construction, otherwise it's just not worth the money. Do you have the same user name at ausubaru? I'm on there a bit too tho not so much right now cause things are really hectic with the move/electrical company startup/baby being born etc. I used to love Whistler when I was younger, even moved there after highschool and bought a condo with my brother. But it's fast living and I got burnt out, good times but it's hard to relate to the place now it's gotten so huge and crowded. Like everywhere else around BC, if the Olympics have the impact that everyones suggesting... I don't know if I want to think about that right now. Real estate is going up on average 20-25% a year, which is great if you're selling and moving out to the sticks where land is cheap, but otherwise it means more taxes. I can relate to your feelings about the current rate of development in the lower mainland, it's like we're desperate. All this beautiful farmland and we pave and sod it for suburbia, thousands of cars leaving every day for their commute 1-2 hours into the city. The islands the same, nobody wants to develop any land that might need to have geotech. survey's done or anything more than a quick hit with an excavator to clear. I don't feel old but every where that I remember being fields or forest around towns and cities is gone. It's nuts, time to build up/higher density, less white trash suburbia. Sorry for rambling on this is a sore spot for me.
  7. Yes Canada's very lax with it's reg's[one of the worst globally, even the US], the really bad stuff happens in Alberta were any oil company can vent gasses and excrete waste as they please, kind of "self regulated". There's been sabotage and deaths in many areas from hard feelings over how "buisness" has been carried out. I've worked on some really nastie oil refineries and tar sand oil mines. The work I did in Port Albernie's mill was mostly maintenance, with a few upgrades to motor controls here and there. Nanaimo's screwed, classic example of a resource town with no jobs and then a shifted central buisness area due to big box mega malls forming a "new down town" All the older areas are going ghetto, nobody wants to rent commercial space there now. SKOOKUMCHUCK is nuts, I dream of hooking up with a friend and a jetski so I can pull into some of those standing waves on my surfboard. have you kayaked them? Where I live now on Quadra Island there are some channels that have 14 knot currents and standing waves but they are too crazy to even consider going out in. I would like to go dawn to Australia and especially NZ, mostly for surfing, although there's a few people that I suppose I should look up. Do you plan on coming back to the Island? Things are going to be nuts around here in the next 5 years as construction ramps up for the Olympics adding to the boom that's talked about right now.
  8. Yeah just a bit further up island. I pass through port Alberni alot on my way out surfing at Tofino, worked in the pulp mill a little bit too during a shutdown once. Weathers been great here but we had a lousy winter with ony a 1/5 of the regular snowpack in the mountains, hope there's not much for wildfires this year.
  9. I think the best route as far as the rear diff goes is to have a solid skid plate, removeable of course. Oh yeah and the tallest tires you dare run too.
  10. Hey Patrick, thanks I would like to add that I was running rubber spacers in addition to the byb lift kit, and most of the camber issues are related to that increase in ride hieght. The problem I'm running into now is that there is not enough damping provided by my struts, cause when I hit boost my camber goes out the window[in fwd]. This week I'm installing new struts so hopefully that'll deal with a bit of it, and 1/2" of additional spacing to the main cross member under the engine to be sure. As far as front axle strain goes I've not had any problems with the cv's really I just replaced both that had been on the car since well before the lift. They had alot of miles on them from me and came from a wrecked car with unknown miles. They've held up well when you consider that I'm running a good bit of more power than stock and most of my 4 wheeling is done on rocky bluffs. However with blown boots on both sides and alot of mud in there I replaced them with lifetime warranty fenco jobbers for $150 a side.
  11. When I was wrestling with the steering knuckle and a cv on my 4" lift I was pushing against a shelf that had a pretty good size turbo on the third shelf up. The damn thing fell off and bounced it's way onto the top of my skull which pretty much knocked me flat. Well I was pissed and of course being a complete idiot I punched my car and wound up with a honking dent in the front drivers quarter panel. Had one bolt break in the frame rail of the car too.
  12. 4 inch BYB from PK in the US, Basically a three inch kit but 4inch strut and shock extensions.
  13. Hey Tashi, Three point motors in Nanaimo is a bit on the expensive side of things but they are a Subie dealer and they do quality work. How's the surfin down there, we just got back from Tofino which was ok but most of the sandbars are still out of wack from the spring storms. Maybe time for a road trip to Sombrio and possibly Nootka in June. Best of luck with your car.
  14. No front diff for me. I might have enough slack in the steering ext, there's about 2" of extension on the splined shaft from the steering wheel. Still waiting to get some photo's up of the strut/shock rubber spacers.
  15. Are you sure it's your clutch that's gone? All of the AC units on my cars have had the compressor sieze, no clutch probs. I'm going to go look at the clutch assembly on a spare compressor I have out in the shop I don't remember it needing any special tools for removal.
  16. congrats on the conv. these turbo cars rule with the 5spd!
  17. yup camber is what it should have read, I'm thinking of adding a 1/2 " spacer under the main crossmember engine carrier lift block so there's not so much camber in the front.
  18. the byb kits I have use 4"strut/shock mount ext. instead of 3".this puts 1"of preload/suspension lift on top of the 3" body lift. I ran the rubber spacers for a while but didn't like the toe in.
  19. I've had spacers/shims and rubber pucks in my struts/shocks on a few different cars, 3 wagons and 1 4dr sedan. They are good for a few things, they will increase your ride hieght and make your springs alot stiffer. The bad part is your struts/shocks will doing the bulk of their damping work partially extended and toe in on the front will be bad \ / I've been through more cv's than normal and a few sets of sway bar bushings on the front. No problems on the back. I also have 2 4" byb lift kits on my wagons and they do eat axles a bit faster than normal because of the extra 1" of ride hieght which is gained from extra preload on the struts. All of my cars are ea82t's modded for power with 5spd d/r trannies swapped in so the cv's are stressed more anyways. The rubber strut/shock extenders seem to be the best so far, if you are looking for anything more than an 1.5" gain in ride hieght then I would buy a kit off of PK [byb] cause the added toe in from the struts being extended in the front will cost you a lift kits worth of tires in a year or so. I will try and post some pics when I'm back at home in a weeks time.
  20. If you have 4lo you will enjoy the turbo alot more.
  21. Nice, I've done a reseal but nothing close to the level of work you've done. Very nice. You could change the wastegate bracket on your td04 and clock the outlet so it's vertical, it's not all that had to do.
