I thought about changing my locks... but I wanted it to be a little more... secure I guess... replace them but also make them unique, but I see thats not exactly possible. I may just do the fuel pump cutoff switch... but at the same time, that only works as long as nobody sees me turn it on :/

Ive considered this option, have it hidden under the dash or something... how hard is it? Thats my problem... and unfortunately the person has been seen with me so it wouldnt be weird if his Subaru showed up and he drove off with mine for awhile, its happened before when we were on speaking terms.

Maybe this is a general question? So awhile ago, my car was moved.. long story short it wasnt where I left it for sure. I think I figured out who did it, someone with a car near exact of mine that may have had the same key style and it worked. Anyway question time.... Can I have a locksmith rework the tumblers in my door locks and ignition and then make me a key off the re-worked tumblers so that I have a custom/one-of-a-kind lock/key so that this doesnt happen in the future? Long shot? Expensive? Pointless?

There are tons of threads on it... In fact, in my opinion, the EA82T gave the EA82 a bad name... Family EA82s - My dads (then mine) 1985 DL had 456K on it, running and driving. My 1992 Loyale had 246K on it, and last I heard had 300K (sold it) and now my faithful NED (1986 GL) has 177K on him and has had a blown DS head gasket for over 8K miles, still accepts 6K shifts and doesnt overheat. But the EA82T has a lot of problems... overheats, blows headgaskets and they are expensive. My friend blew a coolant line in his EA82T and the motor blew even though he was adding water/coolant every few miles, trying to get it home (about 30 miles) and he got it home, as he pulled in the driveway the car shut off and wouldnt restart. On the flip-side... my EA82 (NED) went all around Beaverton for a few days, smoking like a beezy, and I couldnt figure it out, saw coolant all over the engine, asked GD, and drove out to his place (about 22 miles) and replaced the coolant line, only topped up coolant once.

Also, get a temp gun to verify that it truly is overheating... maybe the temp isnt really that high?

The shops I went to luckily did mount them on the tires, but I had to bring them up separately. Then take them home and mount them on the car myself.

Personally Ive had issues with tire places touching re-drilled wheels. Some people dont though. Hell, even Les Schwab got into a fit with me when I had the 15" pugs on Ned... I told them the lug pattern was the same, not drilled but they said a Subaru of my era didnt come with 15" so they wouldnt mount them cuz its "liability" so I went elsewhere...

I shift Ned at 4K+ every time... unless Im conserving gas, then I shift at about 3000 (just when the needle passes 3) I forgot once when I was spiritly driving and shifted at almost 8K... seems to still run great

Ive got a few soobs going on the 15th, would be 2 foresters, a jeep so far, but hoping for a few more scoobs.

You could do paddle shifters with the 4EAT. I believe Eulogious did that on his Loyale and his Legacy? But the torque converter in the 4EAT acts like a low range. Ive seen the 4EAT Forester just climb places like they are nothing... Not to mention, they can handle the abuse. OBK25XT has/had a 2001 Outback sedan with 473K on it, original engine/trans which was the 4EAT

I do agree, he will get a small bump in power, but for what its worth, if Im going through all the effort to do an EJ swap, Im gonna go with the EJ22 AT LEAST, if not the 22T

There are many threads on the EJ swap. Several can be found in the Subaru Retrofitting section. Personally, I will pay for my EJ swap because I dont think I could handle an EJ swap... Nor make it as clean/stock as I would like it to be.

EJ18 wont give him that much power, and its essentially the same amount of work as the EJ22. You will still need the adapter plate and custom wiring...

From what Ive heard... The clutch type is the best because the Viscous isnt serviceable, so when it goes bad after (I think like 70K typically) they are just useless... I could be wrong, and Im sure Ill be if I am, but from what I recall, VLSDs just arent that great

Ditto on the work part, Im gonna make sure that when I get a job, they know that WCSS is important... more important than work.
