  1. The purge control solenoid, opens to allow gas vapor to enter the intake manifold from the charcoal canister. If I remember right it dose this at startup and the ECU closes the solenoid after the engine reaches a certain temperature. If you are getting a code for the air flow meter then there is something not right with the airflow meter or the wiring.
  2. All of the EA81 body style finders will fit. It's just that from 80 to 82 the radio antenna is on the Left side and 83+ is on the right.
  3. I would check to see if you have a disconnected vacuum line.
  4. In the rules version provided by XSNRG they bring up rules about limited slip in the RM4 class. Anyone want to speculate if they would let someone compete in a lower class if they car came equiped from the factory with some kind of LSD and dosen't the WRX come standard with a VLSD? You know I think the ORG needs to have a general RallyX meeting to cover how they interperate these rules.
  5. yeah it sounds like they gave you the wrong one.
  6. Ed, Wouldn't you have to run in the RM4 class since you have that hotter cam in you engine?
  7. You probably do have the right wire hooked to the oil sender but the on an EJ22 is just a switch to turn on a dummy light when the pressure drops. Burping the cooling system can be tricky, a lot of people will back fill the engine through the upper hose since the thermostat is where the lower hose hooks up. Also the Legacy and Impreza radiators have a plug in the top to vent air when filling the system.
  8. An EA82 4wd Flywheel way around 25lbs, yeah the shipping would be a bit of change but it would most likely be less then the pice of a new one.
  9. Indeed this is interesting, I wonder how these different classes are going to workout. Also, allowing every class to use snow tires may have an adverse effect on the course.
  10. You know, I can't decide which subaru to bring this year. I own two but I can only drive one at a time, legaly. Too bad that cloning this hasn't panned out yet.
  11. This swap should be pretty straight forward. The transmission length is not an issue since The EA71 4wd transmission that was used in 1980 is longer then the version used in the 70's and it's the same length or close enough to the length of the EA81 D/R transmission that you don't need a new drive line. Now you will need to use the driveline from your hatchback because the hatchback dose have a shorter wheelbase then a wagon.
  12. Many of the Impreza Mods will work on the Legacy as well.
  13. Do you need the engine or transmission bellhousing?
  14. Nope, the auto is 23 spline the RX 5speed is 25 spline
  15. Post a picture of the wheel in question, front and isometric view please.
  16. The radiators for the EA82s are aluminum core with plastic tanks, if I remember right.
  17. The Ej Flywheels have Equally spaced bolt holes, the EA flywheels have one bolt hole that is not equally spaced from the rest.
  18. whiteline shows a rear swaybar kit in their catalog http://www.whiteline.com.au/
  19. I am affraid that piece of your pump is Tango Uniform, it looks like it's time to hit the wrecking yard.
  20. Hey snowman FYI, the EA82 carb is 9.0:1 it's the EA81 that's 8.7:1. Oh there is another reason to plug the ports, if you don't you'll have a lot more noise under the hood, if you care about such things.
  21. There are a couple of differences in the N/A and the Turbo blocks. The Turbo block has the hole to screw the knock sensor in and an addition crankcase ventelation port. If your block is not dammaged by the bad piston, you might look into getting some higher compression pistons instead. The carburated and MPFI version of the EA82 had a 9:1 ratio and the SPFI (throttle body injection) version had a 9.5:1 ratio.
  22. No dice on that one. The EA81T uses basically the same inductive pickup type distributor as the other EA81s
  23. 1. with the right tools, you should be able to install a Heli coil into the sparkplug whole, for the repair. If you do need to remove the head, it can be done without pulling the engine. 2. that's what they sound like 3. I can't remember. 4. the only danger to them or you is that they are exposed, be careful around them when the covers are off and the engine is running. 5. it depends on what you have for tools 6. since you have fuel injection, the filter is located in the engine compartment.
