  1. The part number for the brake shoes, are not the same. This leads me to belive that the diameter or width of the drums are different.
  2. I would not be surprised if it's more tacky than muddy.
  3. Subaru Manual transmissions have a check stick. It's hidden by the spare tire and it's on the right side of the transmission.
  4. It sounds like a combination of clutch cable and syncros. Your problem with shifting into reverse is likely to be the cable. Trying adjusting the cable and remember there should be some free-play with the clutch petal when you are done and try to not over-tighten the cable. Give that a try and see if that helps the rest of your shifting issues too. If you find that you still have some shifting issues, try changing the gear oil. A lot of people have found that Redline 75W90 NS, helps syncros to work correctly. The NS means that the oil dose not include the friction modifiers for limited slip differentials. You should feel some improvement within the first 30 miles. If Redline is too expensive for you, research the transmission cocktail on Nasioc or bbs.legecycentral, or try draining about 1/2 quart and adding some ATF.
  5. Just to give you guys a weather update. It looks like the next few days are going to be cold, windy and there will be the occational shower, some rain and show mixed during the AM hours. Right now Sunday is looking to be mostly cloudy with no rain.
  6. Is it the origional line-up of YES? You know, if you managed to get home and in bed after the concert, by 2:00a.m. on the 16th. Then back on the road by 8:00a.m. You could still have plenty of fun at the show.
  7. you should be able to find a R200 in a 84-98 300ZX
  8. Maybe he's saying that he can't find anyplace that sells them. If it helps, the plugs that you want are NGK BKR6E-11.
  9. Instead of using EJ22T heads, a number of people are using DOHC EJ25 heads on the EJ22T block because they flow a lot better than the EJ22T heads. Also EJ20G heads are also a commonly used too. Go to bbs.legacycentral.org and do some research about this.
  10. I hope none of your lay-overs are along the Gulf coast because that's just about the start of the thunderstorm season which can cause some nasty delays. Last year I flew to Orlando and the day I flew back the airport in Huston was shut down in the morning. My flight from Orlando to Huston was delayed by 2 hours, then my flight from Huston to Portland was delayed 6 hours.
  11. it's most likely a 2.2. Look under the power steering pump and you will see the casting mark of either EJ22 or EJ25. An EJ22 is a 2.2 and an EJ25 is a 2.5.
  12. For the most part, EA81s with 4wd, did not come with an O2 sensor. The exceptions are; subarus sold in Califiornia. After the '84 model year, EA81s (Brats and Hatchbacks) may have gotten O2 sensor due to stricter emission standards. Almost all, if not all 2wd EA81s came with an o2 sensor, the '80 and '81 model years may be the exception.
  13. That part number comes up as a gasket for a Justy, when I did a search. What I would do is call up Lithia Subaru on Oregon City and ask for Paul in the parts department. He has about 30 years of subaru parts experience. He should be able to get you the part number of the gasket you are after. If he's not avliable, Leah is pretty good at looking up the parts on the older Subarus.
  14. Here's a link to a Subiesport build, where they added a turbo to an EJ18. http://mag.subiesport.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=108&Itemid=59&limit=1&limitstart=0
  15. The Head on the right should have a tube sticking out of the big hole on its bottom left corner. The tube that's missing is for the oil return from the turbo.
  16. I have another option for you unless RA has changed some of their rules. You could build a Subaru to run in the G2 class since that class is open to novice drivers. You could start with an AWD impreza or legacy and prep it similar to a PGT car except you will need to replace the AWD transmission with a 2wd transmission and take out the rest of the bits that send power to the back wheels. Then once you are ready to jump up to PGT or Open class, you will have a car that's ready to go.
  17. The radiator for a 85 Brat should be all metal unless there's an aftermarket supplier that's making them with plastic tanks now a days. It's possible that the original radiator was replaced with one from an other car of some kind and that's why yours has the plastic tanks. Also I've seen aftermarket EA81 radiators come with either size of radiator cap. Basically what you should do is to find a 13lb radiator cap in the larger size.
  18. The contest dose not end until the 14th http://www.westcoastsubarushow.com/logocontest.html
  19. About 99% of the people here will say that d/r is better because of the set of low-range gears and its mechanical linkage.
  20. Nope, Brat doors are longer. If you need doors, you'll will need to find some from another brat, a hatchback or a coupe.
  21. Yeah it's a pretty simple job. If you just want stock sway bar links, you can probably find good used ones at a wrecking yard or you can obviously buy new ones too. If you are willing to spend a little more money, there are performance end links available too since your legacy will use the same end links as a 93-01 Impreza.
