If you can find a working tape deck, one of these works just fine. http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8V366-Mobile-Cassette-Adapter/dp/B0001V2MF4

It's one of the pieces of a synchro, the FSM calls it a synchronizer hub insert. Missing one will cause some problems shifting gears. About 12 years ago I had a 80 hatchback that would only shift into 4th gear after making a sharp right turn. When I drained the transmission before doing a transmission swap I found one of those on the magnet.

Anyone Planning on going to Carlisle this year?
GLCraig replied to Mike621's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Well I've scheduled the time off to make the trip out there if I decide to go. If I do end up going, there's about a 25% chance I'll drive my 84 wagon and a 75% chance I go soft and take my new Impreza. -
you can find a lot of suspension information about the 1st gen legacy on http://bbs.legacycentral.org In my personal experience the GR2s will raise your front suspension about 1in. For stiffer springs, I tried some front springs from an 97 OBS and it did stiffen the front end without increasing the ride height.

Dash warning lights?
GLCraig replied to corvette6698512's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Those symptoms usually indicate the voltage regulator has gone bad inside your alternator. Use a test meter to measure the voltage at the alternator connection with the engine in the 2k to 4k rpm range. The voltage should stay below 15 VDC. Also test again with the test meter set for AC voltage. It should not read more than a few tenths of a volt AC. -

Manual or Automatic transmission? -
Download this PDF, the info you need in it. http://www.worldwidecm.com/HTKYSA.pdf

I do not think anyone has done that yet because the EA81/EA82 3-speed automatics had enough problems with the far less powerful EA81/EA82 engines. There are adapter plates that are intended for mating a EJ22 to an EA82 manual transmission but since this is for a trike you probably will need an automatic. If there's enough room on your trike, a 2wd 4EAT, 4-speed automatic, from a 90-95 Legacy or 93-95 Impreza would be a better option.

Put me down for a maybe, if you guys can push the time out to noon it would increase my chances of being there. The subaru that I would bring would depend on the weather. -
That's almost the same Logan lathe my dad had when I was growing up. Were you lucky enough to get the draw bar and collets for it? Also did it come with a couple of extra gears for the gearbox? The lathe my dad had, used to two different sets of gears to drive the quick change gearbox. One set was for regular machining and the other set was for threading.

I'm working this weekend, you guys go have fun in the snow. -
The Fan on the left when facing the car, is an optional fan that gets installed on Subarus with air conditioning. Turn your A/C on and see if that fan turns on. If you do not have A/C, someone must have wired in that fan and you'll just have to figure out how they did it.

When you rebuilt the carburetor, did you replace the secondary jets? If you did, did you replace them with the same size jets?
