  1. Your Brat was incredible last year. If you've topped yourself for this year's show, the people with the trophies might as well start engraving your name on one of them right now.
  2. Since your old engine had the ASV on just one side, the Y-pipe is also designed to work with just the one ASV. So when you tried to bolt up that Y-pipe up to the new engine, you'll probably have about a 1" gap on the passenger side. Now you could remove the ASV port on the drivers side, as you mentioned in your post, but it's a total PITA to do it with the engine sill in your Brat; unless you have a die grinder and an impact. An other option is to find a Y-pipe from an 83 or later EA81 model. In 83 Subaru went to having 2 ASV on 2wd models and 1 ASV with a driver's side spacer on 4wd models. Then in 84 All EA81 models had 2 ASVs. Or you could have a custom Y-pipe built.
  3. If you ever do make the trip, don't forget to stuff moosens in the trunk.
  4. It looks like a factory A-bar Subaru used in 83&84.
  5. Here's another option http://aaronsauto.com/
  6. If it is a stripped head, are you trying to turn it with a 12 point or a 6 point wrench/socket? If you are trying to use a 12 point, get a 6 point socket because it will have more contact with the drain plug.
  7. Most pre OBDII subarus have the VSS mounted to the speedometer, the SVX probabably dose too but I'm not 100% sure.
  8. Becoming airborne is a sign of poor diving technique. You can't get the power to the ground if the wheels are in the air.
  9. I drove with my head in a very dark place on Sunday but Paul told me what I was doing wrong after things were over with. Here are some more photos from Wayne Flynn http://www.pdxsports.com/photos/showindex.asp?folder=20070506RX
  10. Well I've registared, what about the rest of you guys? There's less than 60 days left 'till the show.
  11. That's right....The spring side of the thermostate goes into the water pump.
  12. When you installed the thermostat the last time, did you remember to back fill the engine with coolant, through the upper hose or did you just let the engine run without any coolant in it? Did you remember to take the vent plug off of the radiator when you filled with coolant?
  13. A few weeks ago the radiator in my 94GT sprung a leak and I had been using a loaner until Sunday afternoon. When the loaner was put in, it was discovered that a 94GT radiator must be a little different from other Gen1 Legacy radiators. The loaner didn't sit as high in the core support and the hold down brackets need some tweaking to keep the loaner radiator in place. After some research I found out that Subaru used a special radiator in both the 94GT and 94GX. My guess at this time is that Subaru used the core support from a Gen1 Legacy Turbo in the 94GT and 94GX because the Turbo Legacy used a taller radiator. So with some comparison with other Legacy Radiators I found out that the real difference was the lower mounting bracket and I could just swap brackets with another Legacy Radiator and be good as new. The bad new is that aftermarket radiators are all metal and their brackets are soldered to the tank, where my original radiator had brackets that bolted to the tanks. So I had to use an original SOA radiator for the swap. The one I found came out of a later model Legacy, and it had a thicker core to it too. The first Pic is the loaner in my engine compartment. Notice how low the radiator sits and how the hold-downs don't fit right. This next pic is my original radiator on the right and the loaner on the left. Notice the difference in the lower brackets. This next pic shows the difference in the core thicknesses. My original one is on the left and the used replacement is on the right. This final pic is of how the replacement radiator sits with the lower bracket from my original.
  14. The RallyX that is being referred to in this thread, was on March 25th.
  15. If I do not have to work another 60hr week, I should be there.
  16. It's most likely that there are other subaru models that use the same cap. Sine you list the displacement at 1600cc, you probably have an EA71 OHC engine in it. With it being a 2wd, I would imaging that it will have a Nippondenso distributor but it may have the Hitachi Distributor instead. The next time you go to the parts store, try referencing an early 80's leone with 2wd and see if they can find a cap that matches yours. Can you provide a picture of the one you have? It would help us to identify which one you have.
  17. If it's a EA81 or EA82 transmission, there are 3 bolts in the bell housing that need to come out. Also did you get the 3, sometimes 4 bolts out of the rear bearing support?
  18. The core support is different between the two light and four light versions. You will need to modify your two light core support to get every thing to fit.
  19. The RallyXs that take place in the in March and October are usually like that.
