  1. Okay now that I'm feeling functional again, here's some pics I took. The first set is from Friday when Soobyclimbs, hooziewhatsit and I took Lolo Pass and drove into Odell from the south. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=905 The rest are just random shots I took during the show. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=906
  2. I have my doubts about there being large numbers of Subarus in the Georgia wrecking yards, but it never hurts to look. The TPS from any EA82 model with SPFI should work.
  3. The 3at uses a transfer clutch-pack to send power to the rear output. It's basically the same as the rest of the clutch-packs in the transmission but it's about 2/3 the size and it wasn't ment to handle 100% power for extended periods. The speedometer is driven by a gear in the front diff.
  4. Camp Site Question A couple of friends of mine are planning to show up on Saturday, but I'm comming on Friday. Is anyone going to care if I clame 2 campsites next to mine for them?
  5. at this point I would suspect the ignition switch itself, try turning it slowly until the starter comes on and see if you goes off if you continue turning the key.
  6. A DL will have a lower grade interior, i.e. seats and carpet. Instead of having a voltage and oil pressure gages in the dash, it will have dummy lights. Also DLs do not come with a Tach.
  7. Well maybe you need to take all of your empty beer bottles back to the store.
  8. I do not have a CB and I'm not sure about Soobyclimbs. The Subway is right on the highway less then a 1/4 mile past the ranger station going west on Hwy26, there's a big gravel parking lot next to it. About another 2 miles west there's a 76 station and a grocery store. I wouldn't mind hitting a few trails but I do not have a lifted rig and I will be loaded down, so nothing too challenging. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=47.483365,80.244141&q=Zigzag+Subway&ie=UTF8&om=1&ll=45.285999,-121.808167&spn=0.165945,0.313454
  9. you guys are still welcome to join up with Soobyclimbs and me on Friday,
  10. If it's a EA82T with Gen1 or Gen2 heads, it's probably a crack in the head where the exhaust runners converge together in the exhaust port.
  11. Well since some of you seam up to it, How about we have a meet-up at the Subway in Zigzag at noon on Friday and take off at about 1:00 p.m.
  12. Well after reading in another post that Hood to Coast is the same weekend, I'm not going to fight through that mess to get from Sandy to Zigzag.
  13. Well my 83 FSM show 2235lbs, an 82 should be basically the same weight.
  14. Wouldn't an OBS have the newer style rear axles where the inner DOJ has a stub shaft that's machined out of the same chunk of material? There may or may not be an issue with getting those to insert correctly into a VLSD. If there is an issue, you could probably use the stub shafts that came with the VLSD and use some rear axles from an earlier Impreza.
  15. It's not unheard of for the choke heater to fail on a hitachi carburetor. Next time you have a chance to work on it, run the engine with the air cleaner cover take off and see if the choke plate opens as the engine warms up.
  16. the noise might be a bad bearing in the AC compressor
  17. Please see item 18 in the figure below. It's possible that the dealers are not including the gasket with the reseal kit anymore. It's been 10 years +/- since I last resealed an oil pump but the kit I got from the dealer back then did have that gasket in it.
  18. The GL is down for the moment so I'm just not going make the trip up.
  19. Did you remember to turn the adjuster 1-1/2 turns CCW beyond the point of where the valve closes? The method I've seen to pull them out is to take the rocker assembly out along with the pushrods and use a magnet on a telescoping handle to pull the lifter out. Then to put them back in, use a piece of welding rod that's just bearly small enough to fit into the oil hole in top of the lifter. You may need to jack the engine off of the cross member.
  20. Hey when I made my trip to Reno a few weeks ago; on the way back I decided to stay on 395, all the way to Alturas before heading over to Kfalls. It's a nicer and quicker drive then going through the mountains from Susanville to Kfalls. It's mostly a straight highway with plenty of room to pass the trucks. I was able to average 70 without any problem.
  21. By chance did you follow the procedure to adjust the valve lash for solid lifter engines by mistake? The procedure for adjusting Hydro lifters is completely different.
