  1. Not all, back in the days when I was working at Mt. Tech we had a couple of EA71 2wd 4speeds on the shelf. If you were to sit a EA71 2wd 4speed next to an EA71 5speed you can tell the difference between them. The casting of the rear cover is shaped different on a 5speed to make room for the 5th gear.
  2. I was thinking about meeting at the A&W at the junction of 26 & 212 sometime in the late morning, but it's still to early to make the final call.
  3. If any of you guys do come up 97 then take 26 to Mt. Hood, we can meet in the Town of Zig Zag and join up with me. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60990
  4. I'm planning on taking an alternative route to the show this year; taking FS road 18 over Lolo Pass and in to Odell from the South West. There's just no adventure in taking I-84 to get there. So if anyone wants to join me, sign-up in this thread. We can work-out the time and place to meet-up in the coming weeks before the show. New and Old Gen owners are welcome to come but if you are worried about rock chips, have a lowered suspension or running tires with an aspect ratio of less than 50 then I would not recommend taking this route.
  5. My guess would be that you have a bad ignition module. When they start to go bad, they will run for a wile until they get hot then they will crap out on you until they cool off. A way I found to check this is to watch the Tach when you try to start the engine. If the ignition module is working, you should be able to see the tach needle bounce a little when the engine is cranking.
  6. If any of you out of town guys meet up for dinner Saturday night, send me a PM.
  7. The front brake parts are the same between 2wd and 4wd EA82
  8. Sorry but the Legacy air struts are not the same as an EA82.
  9. Those are some old pics that have been around a while. That question should be added to every old school related FAQ on this message board.
  10. an Imp seat from a Subaru Impreza
  11. What year Impreza are your seats from? The set I'm working on have the inside pivot for the seat back, as part of the inside seat rail. Also the inside seat rail mounts to the side of the seat instead of the bottom.
  12. Can't make it. I'm already commited to the Legacy Central campout here in PDX.
  13. mine are http://www.pdxsports.com/photos/showphoto.asp?folder=200606_RallyX&photo=20060611464.jpg http://www.pdxsports.com/photos/showphoto.asp?folder=200606_RallyX&photo=20060611562.jpg http://www.pdxsports.com/photos/showphoto.asp?folder=200606_RallyX&photo=20060611645.jpg
  14. The Tail housing and rear output shaft on the EA81 version are longer then the ones on a EA82, similar to how a D/R 4 speed is longer then a D/R 5 speed. I have had a couple of dozen 3ATs apart and those parts can be swapped fairly easly; you will need to make sure that you keep transfer gear set matched up.
  15. The intake ports on MPFI heads are different then an SPFI head so you would need to swap the heads as well. In addition to that, the SPFI ECU, wiring and some sensors are different too; so you will need to swap thoes as well. Another thing is the wiring on a XT is different then a Loyal, as far as plug and connector locations go, so you would need to do some customization.
  16. I've parted out enough EA81Ts to know they are not the same.
  17. If you can find them EA81T front axles have the same size if not bigger joints then EA82 4wd axles and they have a 23 spline DOJ.
  18. search the new gen forum. Someone about 3 years ago posted about making an adapter plate to bold a 2-speed powerglide to an EJ22.
  19. I'm looking for the part numbers for the 0.03mm and 0.05mm under size main bearings. I also need the number for the 0.05mm under size connecting rod bearings. These are for an EA81 Engine.
  20. I think you have the ASV (aka AIS) ports for an EA81 confused with the EGR port on the top of the Head of an EA81/EA82. On an EA82 Head the ASV port is casted on the side of the head just above the exhaust port and only EA82s that came a carburetor will have the machine work done to the ports to make them functional.
