  1. I would recommend 5052 H32 aluminum alloy vs. 6061 T6 or T4. At that thickness 6061 needs a lot bigger bend radius to prevent cracking along the bend. My chart on this is at work but if I remember right 5052 needs a radius of about 1-1/2 the materal thickness where 6061 needs about 2-1/2. I'll try to look this up tomarrow.
  2. Are you trying to collapse your roof in? That's way beyond the amount of overkill that you need for a roof rack.
  3. In 83 and 84, EA81s with hydraulic lifters were only available with an automatic transmission.
  4. If it really is Fulltime 4wd it will either have a 4eat automatic or a S/R 5-speed with center diff lock.
  5. The steering Linkage is on the wrong side to be Australian. Canada is a possibility but how any Mid 80's cars sold in Canada have AC? It might have made the way up from Mexico.
  6. I took a 5 speed from a 96 impreza and installed it into my 94 legacy. I did need to change the rear diff too to match the final drive ratio. A couple of brackets need swapped too but it wasn't a big deal.
  7. It may save some headaches if you take the intake along with everything attached to it from your old motor and bolt it to you're new one. The Subaru shop I worked at did this on every swap they did.
  8. Since we're on the topic behavior, we need to remember that the HR fairgrounds do have residential areas near by and that we need to act accordingly. We don't want to jeopardise our ability to use the fairgrounds in the future. Also, after last year's unscheduled fireworks display, maybe we should have similar rules for fireworks as we are going to have for beer outside of the beer garden.
  9. You know since an EGR valve is an emissions item, a Subaru sold in Hungray may not have one.
  10. It sounds like a problem with the governor. Do a search and and you should get some info on it.
  11. I've seen Turbo heads like that after someone severely overheated their engine. It's going to smell really good when you get those heads off. If you plan on reusing that block, you better make sure that you can still apply the proper amount of torque to the head bolts before you get too far along with the head job.
  12. You just need to replace the contacts in the solenoid, the parts are about $5.00 at a dealer. Sorry I don't have the part numbers.
  13. There are people who use a Weber on an EA82 too. I think there are some issues involving the clearance round the PS pump.
  14. Just courious about how many of you have kept of yours for a while. I'm just over 8 years with my 84.
  15. N/A 2wd is smaller but a turbo 2wd is the same diameter as 4wd/awd but the dampening springs in the disk are different.
  16. The scrap value of a 4EAT is more then $25; when the price of Aluminum is up. You may want to get it, find a way to test it and if it's bad scrap it out.
  17. You may have better luck with this message board. http://www.ausubaru.com/main/modules.php?name=Forums
  18. It looks like the ones you have are from a different body style. You need a set from another XT.
  19. The Clutch pack is not vacuum actuated. There is an electric solenoid that opens a valve inside the transmission, that allows the fluid to get to the clutch pack. The clutch pack is smaller then the other clutch packs and it will not handle 100% of the power.
  20. I might have room, but I can't make any promises.
  21. That will work too. Please PM me your address and Phone.
