anti diesel solenoid 83 GL
GLCraig replied to smelly_cat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if you follow the wire for the solenoid, you should find a plug for it on the harness. As for a replacement, all of the Hitachi carburetors for EA81s use the same solenoid. -
It is possible to get them out without removing the head. I've seen it done a couple of times. My question is why were you adjusting them? You should not need to do any kind of valve adjustment to an EA81 with hydraulic lifters unless you have taken off the rocker arm assembly. Are you sure that you have hydraulic lifters? Most EA81s have solid lifters that do need to have the valves adjusted every once in a while.

7/29 RallyX in Brooklyn WA
GLCraig replied to GLCraig's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
umm, if I remember right it take at least 5 minutes to get from South Bend to Raymond, and from my Grandma's place in Raymond to Brooklyn it takes about 20 minutes by taking Smith Creek Rd. Do you plan on flying a Helicopter to get there? -
The schedule is out for Brooklyn on the 29th. http://www.historicbrooklyntavern.com/RallyCrossSchedule.htm Looks like I'll be leaving PDX at about 5:00a.m. is there anyone else from the area that want's to follow me up?

I've been up and down the 100 road a couple of times but I don't remember there being a place to stop and catch the view that's in the 1st photo. -
Looks good but I think a hint of another color would really help that wheel jump out more.

Justy: Value of '91, 5 spd,4x4 - 49,000 miles
GLCraig replied to RedBrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Private Party Blue book value is around $1000 if it's in good condidtion. -
Can I borrow it for the next rallyX?
-
The longblock swap should work. I have a 98 longblock in my 94, the only issue is that the single port Y-Pipe pushed the rest of my exhaust system back 2".

It would be nice if they added a vintage glass. -
Have fuel injector questions, AGAIN!!!
GLCraig replied to 4WDFrenzy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
you may want to look here, the theads are more about using Z-Car injectors which maybe a better way to go. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=26375&highlight=280z http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52947&highlight=injectors -
Fuel savings with 4WD fuse removed??
GLCraig replied to Frank B's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I can't remember if an 89 GL-10 has S/R 5-speed or a full time 4wd 5-speed; anyway if it is a S/R 5-speed you could pull both rear axles. The drop in rotating mass should help the MPG but I'm not sure if the difference is worth it. -
85 Turbo Wagon-RED LIGHT on instrument panel.
GLCraig replied to miken6qzt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It's might be a warning light, telling you that you are exceeding the 55mph speed limit that was federally mandated at the time of the vehicle's production. -
Oregon off-road tour. help needed!
GLCraig replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
When I was going to college in Klamath Falls, I played around on the trails above Hagelstein Park. Most of them are fine for stock GLs as long as the driver isn't being stupid. Oh watch out for cows, one time I came around a corner and there was a big cow and her calf. It was a bit of a oh crap moment. Couple of my favorites are FS 9718 to the turn off to go up Swan Lake Point. Take the turn off, the view of Eastern Oregon is . The other is FS 5810, it's really more of a rally type road then an off road trail but it's a nice 13 mile stretch of fun driving. It ends near the town of Chiloquin and US97 is about 2 miles from the end of the trail. -

My previous comment was ment for some laughs. -
I have i feeling that the article you are referring to, is for doing the diagnosis on a legacy. Your Loyale has a completely different wiring harness.

you mean lack of power wagon -
Please verify that when the middle of the 3 marks on the flywheel is aligned with the pointer, one of the cam gear pointers is at 12 o'clock and the other is at 6 o'clock.

who says you have to stop reving at 6k, I know I've taken my EA81 over 7K in some rallyXs

correction on run times The posting on the ORG site is incorrect. The correct running order for the next rallycross on the 16th is: AM session: SF, SR, SA, PF, PR PM session: M2, M4, PA This is reverse run order from the previous weekend. Thanks for pointing that out. April Smith

Yeah I took my Legacy down the main road and back up through the canyon on the 4th just to make sure that unlifted new gens would make it through without any problems.
