so no regular stereo fits the Brat dash?
I'm thinking there would be more depth available if one was to put it at the bottom vs the top like mine is. However mine is probably only on a 1/4" spacer behind the front plate.

Freezing coolant(water) killed my car?!
Unfortunately this seems to be the most effectively way we (HUMANS) learn. I've been fairly fortunate in that I have not destroyed an engine over the years, I had my BIG brother to learn from there ... He changed the oil in dads pickup, (one that my brother drove at the time) well....he changed it all right, just neglected to put the drain plug back in :o ...Dad forced him to assist with that engine rebuild, he hasn't gone with out putting the drain plug in SINCE ...OOPS. About 5 years later I totaled that truck, broke my back and 4 or 5 ribs :banghead: , funny I was more  about the truck then I was about my back or being in the hospital for some quite awhile. I still miss that truck too, 76 Chevy Scottsdale still makes me :( from time to time. So yeah, kind of a hard learning experience for some from time to time. I am willing to bet you won't do this same thing again.

What oil to use
Dinky26 replied to ArgieGamma's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXStay away from Pennzoil, IMO.... I heard many years ago their oil was junk. Feel free to expand on this one SOMEBODY. I know things could have changed too. I have used Mobil, & Valvoline and can't say any bad about them, aside from Mobil making a mess of some of our environment.

New to USMB
I would say it is all depends on what your passion lends to. If it were me I would lean towards doing the swap, I am assuming you have the EA71 presently in. Would present so much more power....AWESOME!! However if you are in for a change (ie; different style, setup of vehicle) then you might want to consider selling, or you could buy another vehicle to make a go between funds permitting of course. However sounds like you have a fair amount of attachment to your first Subaru, I personally would find it very hard to sell as well, thus if it were me I would probably keep it just IMO. At the present time I seriously doubt that I will ever get ride of my Gen2 Brat, however one never really knows what is down the road for any of us. I really just enjoy driving it way to much I JUST LOVE IT TO DEATH!!!!!!!! Kinda of just a matter of personal preference IMO.

I think I may have the old style radio and tape deck setup in the load of stuff I bought, if you are interested. That being said, the PO that I bought my Brat from, put a CD player in and KNOCK on wood I don't think it has ever skipped on me! and I listen to the CD quite a bit, much more than the radio.

Master Cylinder Reservoir
In the process of converting my drums to disks, I noticed the seam around the middle of the Reservoir starting to leak. Anybody know where one can get another Reservoir and not the cylinder, especially when they sell the cylinder without the Reservoir?

Rear Wheel Bearings
Yep, don't blame you there. Thanks for your input. I'm thinking I might order a pair from Rockauto price of 2 less then one from Oreilys.

Yeah, I've been kinda looking for a new knob too. Mine is just plain jane blue that came with the car.

What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
Converted my rear brakes to disc this weekend. Seems like nothing ever goes like it should. Not enough hardware, should have checked that before I started the task then I didn't blow the crap out of the first caliper before I tried to pull fluid through , for me I guess this is what happens when being a shade tree mechanic...

Rear Wheel Bearings
What else is in that kit?

Rear Wheel Bearings
On the rear axel is there just one bearing per side and it is wide like the picture below? When I converted my drums to disks the right side looked a little on the dry side or lacking grease. Of course this was blocking my view of the lack there of, and of course this took me a few tries of putting the disc and hub on to see that it was holding me away from having proper placement of the caliper......... Anyway just one bearing per side?

How Many FT/Lbs to tighten axle nut on a 86 Brat??
I've done the rear disc brake conversion on my Brat. Got the drivers side all set and good. Went to the passenger side, inadvertently left the cup over the bearing, put hub and disc on and finally realized what the deal was, pulled cup off finally got hub/disc lined up to get caliper on, tightened axel nut down and axel won't spin. So I Backed the nut off a little and axel will spin, axel seems tight and all without hub on. It did look like the bearing might have been a little dry. Does this sound as though I'm in need of a new bearing?..ugh if so how difficult are they to replace??

gauge cluster refurb
There was another member on here that pulled his needles off to paint them. I don't remember him having huge problems getting them dialed back in. Don't remember what thread that was though. Here is one thread that might help. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/138292-how-do-you-remove-the-needles/?hl=gauges&do=findComment&comment=1163809
