  1. Great shots Scoobyclimbs!
  2. Sorry I have been so busy. You pick an appointment time and I will make it work. Almost any time from 11AM-11PM is ok.
  3. Thanks everybody. Its neat to see this post now that I have a real shop space and have gone legit instead of doing side jobs in the home garage.
  4. I think 1 lucky texan has it. "tabs on lower part of intake filter box not seated in slots (usually more of a whooshing sound)"
  5. I put in 6 qts of 5w30 Mobil 1 in all of the ones that come into my shop.
  6. Those look just as good as 1600 pistons to me. I agree, its not worth boring an EA82 if you have access to others. Its not real hard to find one with 90K or less miles that would just be a reseal instead of a rebuild too.
  7. Its just electric, no vacuum. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49970&highlight=DPDT
  8. Funny, I have never had luck with the pipe but I will try it again. I don't like the hammer method as its kindof dangerous too. Thanks.
  9. Wow that is "NORTH!" Where a Subaru gets used the way it was intended to be used. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Kemi,+Finland&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=w27_Tt2bGYKXiALS17zTCw&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=3&ved=0CC4Q_AUoAg
  10. http://www.amazon.com/Assenmacher-Specialty-Tools-201-Installer/dp/B00063UMZ4 With one of those, put the nut in a vise and twist the stud out. Usually re-usable at that point. The studs are 10x1.25. I only use Timeserts after having problems with Helicoils. They aren't a coil, they are a solid steel insert and they hold forever. I can ship you studs and nuts if your dealer is ridiculously far away or priced. In the meantime you could put bolts in to get you by a few days. Most hardware stores will have 10x1.25 bolts.
  11. I should be able to match this price for the OEM one, was selling factory one for $20.38 last I checked. Will check after Jan 1 if anybody wants one from RetroRoo.
  12. I always wanted to do a saddle tank like Land Cruisers and safari guys have for one of these cars. Probably just too expensive though.
  13. Thats what the Subaru scan tool is interfaced with now and has been for a few years. Worked great but its still fragile.
  14. Id ask Ken or somebody at Delta Cam I bet they have to take them off to do the cam job. I have tried pressing them off and they don't like to come off. If you could break the old one off in pieces and order a new one I bet that would work fine.
  15. The outer DOJ's I usually smack with a really heavy duty hammer along the edge while holding the shaft in front of me but point it away from you, when the head comes off your toes are its target.
  16. I just feel so lucky to live where they don't rust like that if they are cared for. Great pics, I too love the Before and afters.
  17. Keep at it with the house, youll finish! Good to see you back here.
  18. A majority of them work just fine. Its mostly a matter of dialing it in which is frustrating at first but easy after the first 2 valves on each kind of head. Making an adapter to press thru the valve is done in my shop. I have multiple spacer adapters that I have made so that I don't have to set the spring compressor so often and just change adapters. Its as easy as a piece of pipe and slicing a window out of the side to put the keepers in thru. This way the compressor reaches down into the head to press it. My favorite compressor so far is a Matco one like mentioned above but the generic one I got from a general tool store works almost as well and was 1/3 the cost. I use both on a weekly basis.
  19. My folks have the big parts delivery and theres 2 hoses coming priority mail. Hope its the turbocharger or a timing belt idler which would be my two guesses.
  20. Its an involved conversion that might not even be remotely plug and play, what are you trying to install the navigation system into? Was it coming out of an STI or going into one or were both cars?
