  1. Add a turbo and then you might be talking about 160 HP I thought the EJ electronics were pretty straight forward. Especially when you get a lot of junk out of the way and think about it in sections/systems. Also a lot more potential for power out of an EJ. More displacement, more valves, more advanced fuel delivery, and aftermarket support.
  2. Yes, start by plugging up those 3 hoses you currently have dissconnected. See how she behaves then. Also borrow a timing light and make sure you got the dizzy set properly. With the SPFI it should be set to 20 degrees BTDC. Removing it and putting it back can open a can of worms Might be a whole tooth off and its not advancing enough for you when you try to accelerate. Report back with thy findings good sir
  3. Ya I should have roughed up the surface first Is this Speedline a spray on or paint on application?
  4. Sup thou Glad to see you are representing the older subarus in your area! Thats really low milaged and it should serve you well for a long time
  5. Same boat here man. I go to local welding/machine shops for this work. I usually pay $50/hour for just cutting and welding. If you have it all mocked up like the first image and bring it in that way they could do it in an hour or less easily. Most places have a 30 min or hour minimum however. Start calling around
  6. tadamn that looks sweet man. where do I click to add to my shopping cart?
  7. I'm with the selinoid diagnosis. Sounds just like when mine was being cranky.
  8. LOL thats exaclty what I was thinking when I saw it !_!
  9. Man that Forester looks SICK with 29" Super Swamper TSLs Email John (murdrat79) or you can give him a call. Mudrat Design & Fabrication I can build Anything Custom 541-729-8490 I can tell you he's a great guy to talk to and really knows his stuff from first hand experience.
  10. I used rubberized spray on in a rattle can. Doesnt hold up as well as I anticipated Driect sunlight made it wrinkle up and peal off. Highpressure water peals it off also. Lost some when I washed it last time. I've noticed it pealing up in a lot of places in Archemitis interior also. Its weird tho becuase in most areas, where it did hang on, the stuff is really on there good. As suggested above I prolly should do more than one coat. Better prep work might have saved some of it too Peace
  11. Ya especially since the Driver Side only got a 3 star and the passangers get a 4 start rating
  12. Ah so this would be more like a 'crew cab' brat. Not the double ended freak mobile I was talking about This is a much needed upgrade to the BRAT... more room in the cab!
  13. Exhuast rebreathing? Thats a new one on me. Whoever told you it was the O2 sensor is clueless. You can run just fine w/o the O2 sensor. Sounds like fuel delivery me. It's as iff you have just enough fuel to idle but not enough when you add seriouse air. Is this a carbed or FI engine? You said it developed after some amature mechanics did work? What did they touch?! That is where I would start looking
  14. Right above your oil pump is the water pump. Could be leaking from the weep hole or maybe it's just the O ring on the inlet tube. Prolly time to pull off that timing belt cover and find out You keep boiling over becuase you have a leak and therefore can not sustain proper pressure as the heat (and therefore pressure) builds up. Do EA82 turbos have that little L hose from intake mani to block right up front, in the middle? I've had those leak since they come with a wussy spring clamp. That tends to drip right down teh front.
  15. Sea Foam will bust those rings loose if you suspect they are stuck or not seated properly. A thrid can in the oil, third can in the gas tank, and keep the last third for later Also replace your PCV valve. Those can blow some oil by too if they are constantly stuck open.
  16. That looks like a sweet custom design. A lot better than my custom Y pipe was that's for sure
  17. I'd make sure it really is an STi. Some dudes put on STi fog lamp covers and call the whole car an "STi" Little pink stickers dont make it an STi so I'd get a VIN and check it.
  18. looks good good luck keeping it ON. that stuff likes to rub off in spots >:|
  19. Maybe its time to sell some of that stuff and fund this project? I had 5 cars for the longest time. Never enough money or parts to do what I wanted with all of them. Having one toy vehicle to focus on makes it much more affordable right off the bat I sold off my others so I could focus and fund my GL wagon.
  20. Grass is always greener on the other side Did I mention why its called the poopenwagen? ... rust
  21. So get $2,000 dollars financed, stop talking about it, and do it I EASILY had $1600 financed to rebuild my EA82 engine from Wells Fargo. I was only 19 at the time with NO credit and a full time student. Paid it off in less than 90 days and I paid no interest on the deal. Hypothesizing about it on here doesnt make it happen. Money and Work do Please dont take this the wrong way. I'd love to see a 250 HP 270 FT/LB EA82 turbo. Honestly you are one of the few who actually seems like you'll follow through. Just trying to modivate you !_!
  22. http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/NCAP/Search.cfm 1990 - 1992 had lower safety ratings than 1993+ 4dr models. They must have beefed something up in 1993
  23. Who rated it specifically at 15% tho? Here is how their rating system works: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/Rollover/ratingsub_interpret.htm 4 stars "Has a risk of rollover between 10% and 20%" Couldnt one argue its more like 10% than 20% or 15%?
