Lower hose is going to be 'cool' since that coolant has passed through the radiator already. Upper hose will be HOT becuase thats where its exiting the engine prior to cooling in the radiator. Sounds fine to me juding by your guage. Thermostat could be serviced just for 'better safe than sorry' measures. I've had them stick SHUT in the past; bad bad mojo!

Those are some sweet little ATVs. Looks like only the Armadillo uses a Subaru engine. Sounds like the Justy engine from the Specs page.

Yeah those main crank pullies can be a PITA. Who needs a gear puller? You got it off with out one It would have been easier to take off had it been serviced properly before. Timing belts arent ment to last 12 years. I dunno if you can blame Subaru for lack of prevenative maintanace by owners Of course the Toyota one is designed better. Thats how Toyota is

PB Blaster; you are on it man! I wouldnt even try it with out some. Try to clean out the spark plug hole first with some compressed air. Either an air compressor or get some Canned Air. That way you wont get junk down into your combustion chamber when you pull the plug out and the PB Blaster drains in! Take it easy on them. Those old insulators can be brittle! Don't want to snap one off down in there. Watch how you apply force to the socket wrench. A lot of times when you are applying heavy force to a socket driver or breaker bar (especially if you have an extension on the driver) the hole thing can kinda twist and a lot of the force goes against the sides / edges. Try and stableize the drive socket / extension and keep it straight up and down. This will keep the force where it should be, torque aplied to the whole thing; not to one side. Otherwise you risk applying too much force to the sides of the spark plug and breaking it off down in there. This is also how you avoid rounding off the edges of bolt heads and nuts. First plugs I pulled out of my Legacy were sooooooooooo bad. They came out however and what I have written here is what I learned Ballitch has an excellent suggestion also. Apply some anti-sieze to the threads of your new plugs when you install them. Good luck !_!

Howto: Fuel pump relay & 88 DL SPFI
MorganM replied to Syonyk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That would be ideal. It's super easy to get an article in the USRM. Just click on the USRM link above. Click on the section you think the article belongs in. Then click the New Article button. A forum admin will review it and then post it or ask for some changes and then post it. Thanks Russ !_! -
How do I access the fuel pump?
MorganM replied to Syonyk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Reading these last few posts was an insight to your evening Glad you figured it out! You are growing wise in the ways of fuel injection through this tribulation -
Sure, it'll fit Shouldnt be to bad of a motor swap too seeing how the EA81 is carbed. If your EA82 is SPFI you might look into the SPFI upgrade onto the EA81 engine. There is a write up here on it. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28620&highlight=ea81+spfi+conversion Glad to have you here; but you might find some local help at http://www.ausubaru.com . They have a forums section and such. Might find someone in your area willing to help! Good luck

MorganM replied to pwoens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Sounds like good snot! Is this what dudes commonly refer to as 'aviation cement' ? I'll ask for Permatext Anaerobic Sealant by name in the future! -

I'm not a fan of wrecked cars and the salvage title is limiting your insurance options. It may appear to be strictly cosmetic damage but I've seen to many 'fender benders' do damage else where causing nothing but head aches down the road. For insurance you wont be able to get full coverage. God willing you'll never have an accident in it but if you do the car and your insurance is worthless to you. It will cover the other person and now you are out a car. Had it been under full coverage youd be getting fat check after that wreck. I'd keep and fix up the one with a straight title and hasnt been in an accident.

Call up no less than 5 local shops and ask exactly this question. Try to shoot for 10 shops. You will know right away who's willing to work with you, who's got the best prices, and who's trying to jerk your chain. Find yourself a happy medium. Super cheap isnt always the best; ask questions. Good luck

Only HP in a bottle I've seen was labled NO2

No doubt; its a free market here in the US.

It was your wheel/tire balance then. That stuff works great; used it many times. I've also seen the inside of tires that used it. It coats the inside of your tires with a sticky substance. Well that can lump and clump up in a spot causing a large buildup in one area. This will throw off your wheel balance.

Oily Residue in Breather? Cause?
MorganM replied to tscinmd's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
How much oil is it using? You'd have to use A LOT of oil before you need to carry around more than a spare quart. -
Lemme know when that day comes around. My old rust wagon wont hold out forever
