Stuck wheel
MorganM replied to Tom Dunn's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
Sometimes the rim rusts to the hub and esentially rust-welds them together I've had to take the BFH to a tire on my old GL the first time I pulled the wheels off. Strategic kicks to the tire should break it free -
So what you are saying; is you need TWO moon buggies His and Hers; rally blue and apple blossum red

That Sport Wagon is so trick! Dude needs to get on the USMB and share how he lifted that thing

MorganM replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Ouch! THat thing really did BURST! Reinforced silicone hose is about $15/foot last few places I called ( truck repair/supply shops ) I'll stick with good old reinforced rubber -
Rear Tires Not Riding Straight
MorganM replied to MorganM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Crawled all around the rear end lastnight. Bushings are in-tact. Nothing looks bent. I'm still Could it be one strut cartraige is worn out? -
LOL nice! If you didnt bend anything doing that; I dont think I've bent anything in the rear end of mine
-
Yes, it was the alternator.
-
that was awsome; how about the whole song?
-
First off quit over heating that poor thing! I"d try some high CFM push fans first. That tricked out radiator with good push fans would prolly set you up nice.

I dunno if anything has changed but hey; here's some pics and my Reader's Ride article http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=3 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=513

Rear Tires Not Riding Straight
MorganM replied to MorganM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Doubt its anything bent. Dunno which video is in reference. I don't think I beat on it but offroading is pretty rough by nature. I'll have to go over the bushing closer. See what I can figure out I guess. -
how to tell if a turbo is going to bite the dust?
MorganM replied to tysn's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I pull off the hose on the intake compressor side. Stick my finger down the hole and wiggle the prop shaft. Also note how much oil (hopefully none!) is all over that intake compressor housing. That's my junkyard analysis -
When everyone and their brother told me my alternator problem was a bad ground I upgraded grounding under the engine bay. ALl grounding surfaces were scraped to bare metal and dielectric grease was used. Fat wire (diameter of my pinky? dunno the guage sorry) from battery to body; this was in addition to the original one going from battery to starter/bell housing. One from tranny to other side of engine bay opposite of battery. Another fat one from center, front, of engine to unibody. Tripple checked, replaced if needed, pulled off and cleaned even if it didnt; all other grounds I could find.

whats the final drive gear ratio on the Isuzu rear diff?
-
I belive Subaru Tex is running a tricked out EA82t in his wagon.
-
I noticed a long time ago what one of my rear tires doesn't ride straight up and down anymore. It kicks out noticible faurther than the left one. I've seen on other EA82 wagons where BOTH rear tires kick way out; like a Baja buggy with lots of + camber. Why for does this happen? Havent quite figured it out myself Yes, I've crawled under there an looked WJM's bushing post got me thinking that maybe its the rear trailing arm bushings?

Optimal Timing for EA82T
MorganM replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I read the nifty little sticker that came with my new fancy red turbo hood. Under the EGR section it talks about timing. For the turbo engine it states 25 degrees BTDC. You heard it right, straight from FHI... 25 degrees. Rage it !_! -
