  1. Let me clear things up a bit........ This is for The Subuggy EA81 ( I ain't got no wheel wells or fenders to worry about anymore ) (Hang on ... Parts will be available soon....) These tires would only be used on slow, off road applications- I'll keep my stock ones for illegal on road adventures. Stock Justys would be too narrow. If they bolt I guess I could weld 2 Justy rims together for some real width? Dualles? Or have 4 Justys widened? Searching for options here........ I'm looking for a 12" rim 8" to 10" wide. I need around a 2.5" offset not mess with the brakes.... No existing ATV rim has the width or offset in that bolt pattern:madder: ATV's have a 4X140 on the front only and with the wrong offset I'm thinking custom made$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ :banghead: Help:boohoo: Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it used to be....:temper: 01 Forester, still is..........
  2. I'm going to run ATV tires on my Sub! (26 X 12 X 12) Anyone done this? Anyone know anyone who can manufacture this rim? To do this I need to fit a 12" rim on my old Subie. If necessary I can get the blanks (rims). $23-28 depending on width. Been quoted $90/rim from Stockton Rim. Wanna do this for less:eek: To do this I need to fit a 12" rim on my old Subie. Any Help? Suggestions? Insults?:cornfuzz: Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it used to be.......:temper: 01 Forester, still is................
  3. Toby, Built it from the plans. Pretty hard to screw up, even for an ametuer like me. The Right hand steering to Left is not as strait forward as you would think. Now mine is done I may be able to figure some adjustments for the pedal area V.S. the tranny tunnel. (works for the Auzzies but not US). I looked at a Harbor Freight Tubing Bender but was told it was a Tubing Kinker.:madder: I ended up paying a buddy at http://www.rocklogic4x4.com/ to do the actual bending. Renting a real one would also work.:cornfuzz: Bends are not difficult and I did them more intricate than the plans called for for cosmetic reasons. (My roll Bar is from one piece of tubing rather than changing from square to round near the windshield.) I maintain if you were to take off work, you could build the main chassis in a week! It's not bad at all. I did all cuts and angles with my lowley angle grinder:banghead: All the Subie Rhino's are based off the same basic platform, the outer tubing is the only difference. I rearranged the rear to look more like a scorpion. My old Subie did good on sand and stuff. I think with a #1000 pound weight reduction and tires a foot wide it should go where you point it. Glenn, 82 Hatch, well sort of..........:temper: 01 Forester, still is...........
  4. We use Motorola Talk-abouts to go vehicle to vehicle when out Jeeping. Not everyone has CB's but a couple pairs of Talk-abouts will keep the group together.:argue: We also usually have an AT&T Cell and they will work most places......... I'll be using an old GE CB in the Buggy. For what it's worth, Glenn 82 Hatch, well it use to be........ :temper: 01 Forester, still is.............
  5. Just about done with one.... Doing a 4 seater conversion on the Bandit Platform with some other modifications. Would be finished if the weather would cooperate just a bit:santa: The plans are good overall but there are some problems for people on the top side of the world.:boohoo: Customer service is lousy! I waited two months for plans that are suppose to take 10 days. Mudrat had similar problems:moon: I waited six weeks for an answer to a angle on a part.:moon: Having said that, if you have terminal rust and a good drive train it's a great solution for your old friend:wave: Let me know if I can help, Glenn 82 Hatch, .....transforming..........:temper: 01 Forester, ......jealous.............:madder:
  6. Snowin in Utah! But not stickin yet:boohoo: And that's the way it is, Glenn 82 Hatch, ....snow veteran........:temper: 01 Forester, ......never seen snow:burnout: California car:dead:

    Lifting a Subie

Mudrat could lift it for you? Check these out.............. http://www.scorpionsubaru.com/photos.htm This is my favorite............ http://www.users.bigpond.com/subaxtreme/index.htm .........Personal opinion............... What's the point with out the Dual Range Tranny? It's not a climber:banghead: Why don't they sell them to US? For what it's worth, Glenn 82 Hatch, ......well it used to be......:temper: 01 Forester, ........fake lift...(fender flares).....
  8. Sweet! Around here they were never that clean, new! I want one:slobber: :slobber: Good thing you got the club! Glenn, 82 Hatch, .....well it used to be.....:temper: 01 Forester, .....still is.............
  9. I think rare is a function of where you live. I'm not sure any ones are more rare than another. I like the 1982's because they had the Cyclops light. The Hatches lasted till 89. Look in the Brochures section of this board and you'll see the progression of the body styles and years. I'd also like to know sales numbers just to know which years sold the most. For what it's worth, Glenn, 82 Hatch, ....well it used to be.....:temper: 01 Forester, .....still is........
  10. Found this Brat for sale if anyone is interested? http://sell.ksl.com/cgi-bin/classifieds.pl?db=autos&website=&language=&session_key=&search_and_display_db_button=on&results_format=long&db_id=35129&query=retrieval
  11. There is a thread on Forester Mileage. I was wondering about my mileage too. It seems as though your mileage is somwhat normal. On a recent road trip I got 25.5 going and 21.5 coming back on a 600 mile trip. I don't love the mileage but I love the car! Enjoy it! Glenn, 82 Hatch, ...well it used to be....:temper: 01 Forester, .....still is........
  12. Lookin good Brian! Sell the Tacoma SR5, I looks out of place? Use the money to buy an additional fleet of Subs! (I'd suggest collection one of each!):bday: Glenn, 82 Hatch, ....well it used to be......:temper: 01 Forester, .....wants to be an 02......
  13. Count in Isuzu! Isuzu are identical to Toyota bolt pattern. A friend and I had some railroad wheels made for his toyota and they also fit my Trooper (this doesn't sound legal?) Whooooooo!, Whooooooooooo! I'll probably end up using spare Isuzus for centers on my buggy. For what it's worth, Glenn 82 Hatch, ...well it used to be.......:temper: 01 Forester, .....still is and proud of it
  14. I'm toying with the idea of doing the same thing with the Buggy? No decisions yet.
  15. Found this out there............ http://www.sandstorm2.com/fabtec's_test_car.htm Subies are turning up everywhere! They are just harder to recognise............. Glenn, 82 Hatch, ......well it used to be.....:temper: 01 Forester, ...wants a makeover.........
  16. What Skeet said!!!!!!!!!! You may be able to wiggle the axles, but rotating would be the best? Drive it in a tight circle both sides in forward and reverse. Listen for noise. For what it's worth. Glenn 82 Hatch, ....well it used to be......:temper: 01 Forester, .....still is..........
  17. Get an EA81 pitch stopper. They are adjustable! Just put the mount in the Subuggy. How much play should be in the pitch stopper? I know nothing! Glenn, 82 Hatch, ...well it used to be......:temper: 01 Forester, still is a Forester.......
  18. Skeet! Check your lug nuts! :moon: I have heard that sound too!
  19. Same EA81 rear. I have been told to get something stronger that stock Subaru because it is too weak?????? I will be hauling up to 4 people at a time though? I'm thinking air or adjustable? Thoughts?
  20. Haven't gone and got shocks yet, Still looking for input.........:argue: I want an adjustable because I don't know the weight of the buggy at this point, and want the ability to dial in the suspension. (I can lift my rear end with one hand.) :moon: Input appreciated..... Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it used to be........:temper: 01 Forester, still is..........
  21. Have one person inside the car honking and the other person out side listening? You'll find it in a heartbeat!:cornfuzz: Just Kidding........ They are shaped like big flat disks. Mine sounded funky too so I got some Harbor freight ones, as I was removing the old ones, I noticed you could tune them? There is a big slot for a screwdriver in the horn. After messing with this I got them to work fine......No need for the cheapies. Check your wires for corrosion:slobber:
  22. Is this an aftermarket gauge? Jump a wire from your dash light...? What car are we talking about? Both your GL's should have oil gauges? Tell us more.........
  23. Welcome to the board! I'd guess the glowing and flickering is part of a grounding problem, possibly feeding electricity back through the other systems. (caused by rust perhaps?) It would be easy to check the wires around the master cylinder and brake light areas. The switch for the park brake is on the rear of the handle mount. (it's wire runs under the passenger seat.) Wish I could be of more help. Glenn 82 Hatch, with new and improved body! :temper: 01 Forester, doesn't need a new body
  24. What about comfort? Are Summit seats going to give you butt rott after an hour or so?:moon: How is the comfort in relation to the stock seats?:cornfuzz: I like those....
