  1. Mark, Good to hear from you. Sounds like a score to me! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  2. I think you guys have way too much time on your hands...
  3. They want $127 each for those tires.... I paid $52 for mine... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=4968&sort=1&cat=500&page=1
  4. You could copy the link to the site and paste it in your post or use the Manage Attachments button when your typing in your post and it will appear as a thumbnail in your post.
  5. I had a similar experience last week in the Forester. Driving on the freeway...as soon as I get off the car starts to pickup heat. Smells like antifreeze. The overflow tank is full. The gauge is going up and down in the middle to the hot zone. Fans are both going. The problem continues until I get back on the freeway and starts again when I get off the freeway. Usually the gauge just stays on the first mark and doesnt' move... I'm puzzled? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  6. It's easy enough to undo the oil pan drain plug for 2 seconds. No more over fill! Just a thought...
  7. Welcome to the board! I'd suggest a set of ATV tires and a sawzall? The bigger the better! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  8. An EA81 (early 80's brat, hatch, wagon...) will have a filter next to the fuel pump in the back ( just forward of the tank). The will also have one under the hood.--My Hatch's was attached the the firewall on the drivers side. What car are we talking about?
  9. I have always found my glove box latch way strong! If your worried about it popping open under the extra weight of some cups, Try locking it? I'd think you'd be ok with the original latch? Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--complete with glove box. 01 Forester--of course it has one too.
  10. Side note.... Way too many Glenn's answering this post...
  11. When I transplanted the wiring harness and motor to the buggy, I had the same issue. My problem was a toasted flasher unit and rusty horn wires. They worked before I messed with them but not after. You need to trace the power to those units??? Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  12. Did you change both filters? My EA81 has a front and rear filter. If you have two then you'd better think about giving that second one a quick change... I'd keep an eye on the filter and see just how fast they are getting dirty before I'd mess with cleaning a tank... Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  13. I found one (Sammi) this weekend for $400 said it looked clean and ran good. I didn't buy it because I have no place to put it and can't justify another off-road toy taking up space... If I had my way my house would look like Sanford & Son
  14. ...how good does an axle have to be? A Bucking Bronco II has still got to have stronger axles than a Subaru! It would be a upgrade and a solid axle. For $20 I wouldn't pass it up either. What about the transfer case? It may save some fab time to reuse the Bronco drivelines and transfer case then fab up a connection for the tranny? My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer ?? Mystery car--soon to appear? 01 Forester
  15. I had the same problem.... Do a search....Ok I did one for you http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14124&highlight=forester+clock+issues This is the problem and the fix! Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--clock still works. 01 Forester--clock works again.

Worth is in the eye of the beholder... If your gonna raise it you should also gear it... Mudrat79 could tell you what it would cost? How much of this are you willing to do yourself? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  17. Northwet is right, it seems it might be a professional Navel Jelly type product. The "professional" stuff has all kinds of warnings but it seems like it should work the same, just a question of strength (phosphoric acid). I'll take a look when I get home and see if I can still read the writing on the bottle. I remember it being called Metal Primer by 3M or Dupont. It was not packaged for consumers. For what it's worth, I have had mixed success with this stuff. On some projects it worked and some the rust reappeared a year or two later although that could have been attributed to my painting?
  18. Any EASY way to put SPFI or MPFI on a older D/R vehicle. Is it worth it?
  19. Or you could, follow some of the tubes comming out of the tank and you'll find the pump and the first filter together hiding under a plate. Good Luck. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  20. What he said, Make one trip, go a little slower and save the equipment. Check your bearings on the trailer and make sure you have a good spare--with air
  21. Rust Converters.... I use a phosphoric acid (could be spelled wrong). I think it's made by Dupont and is sold at auto body supply stores as a metal primer. It's a green liquid that converts rust to shiny metal or a black color depending on the extent of the rust. It etches the metal and is ready for priming/painting in about 10 minutes... Is this what your talking about? Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  22. Actually Saab and Subaru have that joint little WRX/Saab? So you are already associated with the Sub folks. Good to have you on board. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  23. Are these what your talking about? http://www.rhino-offroad.com/index2/rc/2/3.html These use Honda motors and are kind-of a ready made crawler. Not a competitive crawler, Not good looking, I'll pass Just my .02 Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--the other Rhino http://www.rhinobuggies.com.au/products.htm 01 Forester
  24. If I'm understanding the question right, The 4 speed dual range transmission (4 low) would not necessarily have an LSD rear end. The only way to get the LSD in that car is to make a 3.90 diff using the internal components of a 3.7 LSD diff--which was never installed with the 4 speed D/R tranny. Driving in 4wd in tight places. I'm not sure what you mean by tight places, but sharp corners on dry paved roads will force the drive train to bind up. Your 5 speed tranny is tough. Your car will take this abuse but it can't be the best thing for it. Every now and then will not mess anything up but doing this all the time...something some time will break... Your 5 speed tranny does not have the viscous coupling. Side to side is where your going to find the problems... Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--4 speed D/R 01 Forester--5 speed S/R
  25. This event was filmed for ESPN, so it will appear on TV as some point down the road...
