I was thinking the same thing I thought 82 had two square headlights or two round (DL). However a quick check of the brochure section reveals... http://usmb.net/gallery/album75/1982_b So what body style is this 82 ? Welcome to the board, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

It Was a Sad Day Today.....
Sweet82 replied to 75subie's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Now I'm feelin sad too... The only thing that makes me feel better is... How the new owners are going to feel when they find their picture plastered all over the internet -
Not using BRAT for year-how to prepare
Sweet82 replied to jayhawk's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
I personally believe cars need to be driven. I'd have a neighbor drive it around every now and then. In my mind that would mean making sure it gets run long enough to reach operating temp. Some good solid high rpm acceleration would not be a bad thing as part of a maintenance program. Things like dried out seals, dead batterys, varnished fuel, carbon deposits could be avoided with a little driving... My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--driven twice a week...for it's own good. 01 Forester--sits for one week every three weeks. -
Welcome to the board! The Subaru's are set up a little different than most cars. This board can answer anything you could throw at it. If your afraid to ask a question, try a "search", either way you'll get an answer. Good Luck with your Subie, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Wagon--may aquire this weekend! 01 Forester

Donny called me last night but didn't leave his number for a call back. I think he's back in SLC for a bit? Could anyone with Harpua's number P.M. me with it? Not sure what he wanted but it seemed urgent. Thanks, Glenn

What is the demand of . . . .?!
Sweet82 replied to Adam N.D.J.'s topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If they do, a 4.11 should be the target gearing. (My forester is a 4.11) If a 4.11 is readily available why stop at 3.90? This would help our poor crawl ratio... -
The problem is you'll end up "hydroplaning" up on to the snowbank and then your stuck Deep Snow wins everytime. :-p

Have you tried swearing at it?

I'm tearing up just a bit... I went and took my 82 Hatch out for one final ride before I began the transformation. Just me and my friend for 22 years (GL Hatch) out for a final drive.... We set a new land speed record that day! Old Subies never die they just disburse their parts... Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--much happier now 01 Forester--still a little jealous

I think a spark killed my fuel pump
Sweet82 replied to s'ko's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Your fuel pump runs off that #$%@ black box located by the hood release handle. That is where you need to start looking. Mine fried for no apparent reason a week after I got "Summer" running. -
Shawn brings up a good point, I kinda thought the mid 70's Subarus were ugly--Sorry Moosens As far as that goes the late 70's Subarus were ugly too--I now accept/like them. I also don't like the early 90's Subarus--still don't like them. Subaru has not been real consistent with clearly good looking cars. Back on point...I have not seen a Trebeca on the street yet...and this is a Subaru town!!! There is at least one owner on this board but they have not fessed up yet...!

Where the heck are the Flasher units located?
Sweet82 replied to boing's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Did a quick search.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30015&highlight=Flasher+located This is where I remember them being too... Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--flasher units in a holder up under the dash on the LHS... 01 Forester -
Do the pick and pulls in your area require a core? I had never heard of this before. Everything at the SLC P&P requires a core...or you have to pay a core charge!!! Fans, park break levers...it doesn't matter---core charge! By the time you pay all the fees at P&P the half price sales, everywhere else is cheaper at their regular prices. Just wondering if the SLC P&P is unique in it's worthless promotions. Glenn, SLC, Utah

oil pump not picking up, clattering upon start.
Sweet82 replied to laumana's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Lets assume you have oil? You could unscrew your filter and see if its getting fresh oil after you have run it for a bit? Have you dropped the pan and looked to see if the pickup tube is clogged? If the filter is dry and the tube is not clogged, it could be oil pump replacement time.... Welcome to the board, Glenn 83 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
82 brat 79,000 miles (brand new)
Sweet82 replied to 83projectbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I'd have a hard time paying $5k for an old Brat. I'm not sure you'd ever recoupe your investment if you look at it as an investment. If your looking for a driver, your $5k might be spent better elsewhere. If your looking for a toy, it still would be a little pricey for what your getting. I'd be inclined to agree with 75subie, $2-2.5 would be something that would make it interesting to me. Lettice know what you do, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
Scott, I think either one would drive you nuts on a long trip. Quiet and rain are not what they were designed for? It seems what your asking the tire to do is kinda tough. However, given those choices, I'd do the Swampers as I don't think you'd ever hurt them. Which ever ones you do, you could have them siped. That may quiet them down and give you the rain traction closer to a street tire? Good Luck, Glenn

I would love one of those..... It could be so handy... You could go to the store and buy small things You could use it in the backyard in place of a wheelbarrow sorta like a utility/maintainence vehicle for the house. It would probably be covered under you homeowners insurance. If it were half the price, I'd buy one!

Put what ever tires you want? It really doesn't matter to me? I put ATV's on mine. I'm happy with it. So are the folks at RhinoBuggy I'll let you know when one of my 6ply sidewalls fails. Sorry to hear you have a Harley...but that's another thread.
