  1. Welcome to the board! The Subaru's are set up a little different than most cars. This board can answer anything you could throw at it. If your afraid to ask a question, try a "search", either way you'll get an answer. Good Luck with your Subie, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 84 GL Wagon--may aquire this weekend! 01 Forester
  2. Donny called me last night but didn't leave his number for a call back. I think he's back in SLC for a bit? Could anyone with Harpua's number P.M. me with it? Not sure what he wanted but it seemed urgent. Thanks, Glenn
  3. If they do, a 4.11 should be the target gearing. (My forester is a 4.11) If a 4.11 is readily available why stop at 3.90? This would help our poor crawl ratio...

The problem is you'll end up "hydroplaning" up on to the snowbank and then your stuck Deep Snow wins everytime. :-p
  5. Have you tried swearing at it?
  6. Dr. Outback has some specials from time to time... I purchased my factory tweeter kit from him and I love it! Best of all it was $25. I installed them on my lunch break in 5 minutes. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--no options 01 Forester--many upgrades from Dr. Outback
  7. This is an article I found in USA today on the Forester. Not fully complementary but not that bad... http://www.slc-classifieds.com/automotive/articles/881.asp For What It's Worth, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  8. I'm tearing up just a bit... I went and took my 82 Hatch out for one final ride before I began the transformation. Just me and my friend for 22 years (GL Hatch) out for a final drive.... We set a new land speed record that day! Old Subies never die they just disburse their parts... Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--much happier now 01 Forester--still a little jealous
  9. Your fuel pump runs off that #$%@ black box located by the hood release handle. That is where you need to start looking. Mine fried for no apparent reason a week after I got "Summer" running.
  10. Shawn brings up a good point, I kinda thought the mid 70's Subarus were ugly--Sorry Moosens As far as that goes the late 70's Subarus were ugly too--I now accept/like them. I also don't like the early 90's Subarus--still don't like them. Subaru has not been real consistent with clearly good looking cars. Back on point...I have not seen a Trebeca on the street yet...and this is a Subaru town!!! There is at least one owner on this board but they have not fessed up yet...!
  11. Did a quick search.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=30015&highlight=Flasher+located This is where I remember them being too... Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--flasher units in a holder up under the dash on the LHS... 01 Forester
  12. Do the pick and pulls in your area require a core? I had never heard of this before. Everything at the SLC P&P requires a core...or you have to pay a core charge!!! Fans, park break levers...it doesn't matter---core charge! By the time you pay all the fees at P&P the half price sales, everywhere else is cheaper at their regular prices. Just wondering if the SLC P&P is unique in it's worthless promotions. Glenn, SLC, Utah
  13. Lets assume you have oil? You could unscrew your filter and see if its getting fresh oil after you have run it for a bit? Have you dropped the pan and looked to see if the pickup tube is clogged? If the filter is dry and the tube is not clogged, it could be oil pump replacement time.... Welcome to the board, Glenn 83 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  14. I'd have a hard time paying $5k for an old Brat. I'm not sure you'd ever recoupe your investment if you look at it as an investment. If your looking for a driver, your $5k might be spent better elsewhere. If your looking for a toy, it still would be a little pricey for what your getting. I'd be inclined to agree with 75subie, $2-2.5 would be something that would make it interesting to me. Lettice know what you do, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  15. Scott, I think either one would drive you nuts on a long trip. Quiet and rain are not what they were designed for? It seems what your asking the tire to do is kinda tough. However, given those choices, I'd do the Swampers as I don't think you'd ever hurt them. Which ever ones you do, you could have them siped. That may quiet them down and give you the rain traction closer to a street tire? Good Luck, Glenn
  16. Who here owns a Trebeca...be honest...we'll find out eventually. No you won't be kicked off the board...well...you might be restricted a bit Ya...we have raked them over the coles but fess up and tell us your impressions so far... Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  17. I would love one of those..... It could be so handy... You could go to the store and buy small things You could use it in the backyard in place of a wheelbarrow sorta like a utility/maintainence vehicle for the house. It would probably be covered under you homeowners insurance. If it were half the price, I'd buy one!
  18. There is a Un-named Board Member who has plans for just such a beast. It will even have "options" that have not been mentioned yet... You know who you are.... Build it!
  19. Welcome to the board! ...so your also a pilot? http://www.zenithair.com/zodiac/6-subaru.html Soobies fly too! Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  20. Put what ever tires you want? It really doesn't matter to me? I put ATV's on mine. I'm happy with it. So are the folks at RhinoBuggy I'll let you know when one of my 6ply sidewalls fails. Sorry to hear you have a Harley...but that's another thread.
  21. Stock is 8" double would be 16" If your doubling me you'd be needing 24" 80hp doubled would be 160 wouldn't it? I stand by my math. I didn't make up the double clearance double horsepower thing. I just did the math. To be honest not only do I find it impressive, I find it unbelieveable! Some how I think we've lost focus of what this thread was all about? This thread was never about debating my Buggy VS Stripped Hatch. I'm sure they both have a place. Wasn't the real idea, to explore the possibility of 14 ATV tires on a subie? Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  22. Give them some time to come to the light side. They have all come from horrable backgrounds and they just need to get past that point in their lives. They'll come around. Look at all the great cars they have to sell...Trebeca Ok...give them a little more time there is still the STi
  23. I don't think your going to regret your decision. You know all the quirks of your current vehicle, it's a known quantity. That's a good thing out on the trail. Good Luck, Glenn
  24. I wouldn't use an ATV rim if that's what your thinking (4-137) I looked into that but nixed the idea due to the strength of the rim. Someone up in the northwest is running a Justy with ATV tires already but I believe they are running them on custom rims. You could have rims made almost as cheap as you can buy a nice set of ATV rims. 160 Horse and two feet of ground clearance That's impressive!
