Stock is 8" double would be 16" If your doubling me you'd be needing 24" 80hp doubled would be 160 wouldn't it? I stand by my math. I didn't make up the double clearance double horsepower thing. I just did the math. To be honest not only do I find it impressive, I find it unbelieveable! Some how I think we've lost focus of what this thread was all about? This thread was never about debating my Buggy VS Stripped Hatch. I'm sure they both have a place. Wasn't the real idea, to explore the possibility of 14 ATV tires on a subie? Teape Subaru?
Sweet82 replied to wrc1914's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVX
Give them some time to come to the light side. They have all come from horrable backgrounds and they just need to get past that point in their lives. They'll come around. Look at all the great cars they have to sell...Trebeca Ok...give them a little more time there is still the STi -
I don't think your going to regret your decision. You know all the quirks of your current vehicle, it's a known quantity. That's a good thing out on the trail. Good Luck, Glenn

I wouldn't use an ATV rim if that's what your thinking (4-137) I looked into that but nixed the idea due to the strength of the rim. Someone up in the northwest is running a Justy with ATV tires already but I believe they are running them on custom rims. You could have rims made almost as cheap as you can buy a nice set of ATV rims. 160 Horse and two feet of ground clearance That's impressive!

Tip your car up on three wheels and see how well your doors fit? You will notice a difference.

How do you know if you have a feedback carb?
Sweet82 replied to markjs's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You have a feedback carb. My 82 has one too. A quick search found this... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=17699&highlight=feed+back+carb Hope it helps, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--crude feedback system 01 Forester--more sophisticated system -
In Salt Lake City, there are 3 Subaru's at any given intersection!!! Next time your here look!...count....you'll find at least 3!!! They are everywhere and they are all new! Once a month I'll see an EA-81 Once a week I'll see an early 90's And there is three newer ones at EVERY intersection. My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Old Soobs never die, They just disburse their parts...

Driving without doors is just plain fun. Tube doors are the next best thing. However I have to wonder about the effect of the structural integrity of the unibody when the doors are removed? I think a good compromise would be a cut down door? ( Planting ideas in someone's head...)

3at 4wd T-coupe To 4 Or 5 Spd?
Sweet82 replied to LUVMYBRAT's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
The biggest difference I can see is... The 4 speed tranny has a one piece driveline The 5 speed has a two piece driveline which means more work. Along with the pedal box you'll need the cable for the clutch... Good Luck, Glenn -
idiot lights come on half way?

Sounds like a grounding problem to me -

He was last on the board at 7:30 this morning. Give him a P.M. and see if he responds... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/member.php?u=3739 Just a thought? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
Wow! My 82 Hatch only had 11.8 gal. My Snowmobile holds more gas Aparently the later Hatches had more capacity... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--11.8 gal tank. 01 Forester--Way too small of a tank!

Wow you hit so hard your steering wheel is now on the wrong side Good looking car, too bad it's hurt. I love the scoop. Hopefully you'll find a donor and be able to get back on the roads. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
Did you really expect anyone to really "design" one, manufacture it and sell it for a price that makes sence for an old Subaru? Whenever I hear these threads I just sit back and laugh I'd love it if it did but...Nothin's ever gonna happen! Deal with it.

Welcome to the board! Your in the right place. The GL-10's were certainly the nicest of the GL line. Is this for street of are you looking to modify it for off-road? Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--GL Hatch in a previous life... 01 Forester--01 Ferrari in a previous life... -

How to tell if its the turbo version of the GL?
Sweet82 replied to burrito007's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
So........ What kind of beast are you thinking of building that you need a turbo? The old GL Turbos were not that quick? Tell us your evil plans -
Morgan, Do the math! Total your costs on getting your current lifted wagon back to a safe state. $$$ Total your costs on getting the hatch + lift + fixes to a working state. $$$ Subtract the $$$ gained from parting out your lift and other stripable/sellable parts. See what make the most sence. Once either vehicle is up to speed, you could assume both vehicles will need some repair work in a couple years anyway from general wheeling. So don't figure that into your equation. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer--Trailer Queen! 01 Forester--Not Trailer Trash.
