  1. Cool! I guess I had forgotten how the rear hatch lifts up and then you have a tailgate that folds down. I wish my old Hatch would have done that trick Way Cool! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  2. Another torch vote! I believe the rubber is vulcanized on to the metal and well... You must fight fire with fire? Never been able to get them out any other way... Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  3. Welcome to the board. We can always use more members. I think you'll find the folks here have all the answers when it comes to Subies. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  4. Why didn't you make two trips, it was only 8 miles??? On the other hand...that's terribly funny that a poor old Subie could do such a load I find my Forester steers/handles funny when I put only #200-#300 in back. They are workhorses! Put them to work! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  5. Wow! I hurts just to look at that poor car I think its gonna be tweeked more than what meets the eye... Were seeing pics of the Subaru...but...how bad was the bolder hurt?
  6. I cast one vote for.... Put it back on! Looks better, should hide/prevent rust, gives it a completed look. My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  7. I have a hitch on my 01 Forester, however I never hooked up the lights. I did a search and found where the pre-wired plug for the trailer lights is located. Thanks, USMB! Question: Do I need the $100 Subaru plug and box adapter to make everything work correctly or can I just make my own wires/adapter from the plug and not mess up the brake-light-out-sensor or some other parts. On all my other vehicles, I have always just wired up the lights and not worried about an adapter box. Is that still ok or will it mess up something? Thanks, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--now has a hitch but never will have a light adapter. 01 Forester--also has a hitch but wants to get lights hooked up.
  8. Is this what you were looking for? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4538468367&catergory=6467 They do exist... Sedan, turbo, 4wd all in one package Truely a nice ride. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  9. WoW! That is clean!!! Turbo and a convertable. That's truly a collectors item. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  10. Murphy looks good, perfect from the passenger side. Not a bad ride for $500 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  11. Jim, Get your finger out of your nose and tell us why your here? The usual, how many Subs you own, how long you've been addicted, That sort of thing.... Oh ya, welcome to the board! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  12. http://usmb.net/gallery/album75/1982_g Not a lot of HP in these babies! Seems as though your shifting in the right range...
  13. I think Mudrats the man for the job! Something to consider is you may also need gears to get where your clearance will allow you to go. John (Mudrat) has my vote! Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Are you using the Toyota transfer case? Wonderin what the gear situation is on that beast? Looks just like those old Stompers! Awsome, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  15. Not real sure what car your talking about but... I jack from the front "A" arm area and try to set the stands real close. If you put them along the rocker panels you may damage your pinch seam if you have one. There are recommend jack points along the seam, you'd have to check your owners guide for that. If you have a frame rail just inside from the pinch seam, this would be a good spot as these are usually very thick. What car are we talking about? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  16. Charge the battery again and see it the problem goes away My money's on two different problems. If your talking about your original battery, it's now 5 years old and probably getting to the point of needing replacement anyway. Two things, I'd try First a couple of bottles of carb/injector cleaner through the fuel system over the next few weeks. Second check your antifreeze level? My trooper will idle funny, (high & low) at the intersections when the antifreeze level get low. Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  17. Welcome to the Board, I wish I could be of more help, my 01 has no program button, you just do a whole bunch of stupid things in a certain order and it accepts the remote code. Usually the wires are tied pretty well to the frame and harness. There should not be much "slack" between where the wire orignally went and where it is now. Is there a piece of wire/wire insulation in the back of the program button that might show what the color was? As far as that goes, is there any wire in the back of the program button??? Good luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--no remotes, no doors. 01 Forester--Ebay remotes and keyless system
  18. Tell us what speeds your shifting at? This should tell whether your shifting too soon or maybe its the car?
  19. Post some pics for us
  20. The guy seems to know his Subies, However I was a little unclear on when Subaru quit making 2wd? I was looking but I musta missed it? Clearly this should be noted in his history section.
  21. Keeping the salt off it is virtually impossible if you drive it daily. But not driving a Subaru in bad weather is just morally wrong! Regular washing of the wheel wells and undercarrage are the only real preventions you can do. Pay particular attention the the pinch seam/rocker panel area, floor board areas, fender wells and any little rock chips... I've tried rust proofing stuff on my old Subie. It may have given it a few more years but salt is tough on cars. I live in SALT LAKE CITY. Our roads are white from SALT not snow! Drive it, take care of it... and when it gets rusty, make a buggy out of it Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  22. By the time you add them in after the fact, I think they'ed be real expensive. And Your In PHOENIX I wanted the "winter package" on our Forester, heated seats, wipers and mirrors, but the car seems to do winter just fine with out. (doesen't mean I still don't want them) If you can wait a few years the price of stuff like that really drops big time!! Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--w/o doors, windows, mirrors... 01 Forester--w/o winter package
  23. Love the Pics!! Beat that Subaru! I have some similar Quad pics. I have one looking up at the under carrage and nothing but the sky in the back ground. Love it! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  24. If I couldn't feel the difference in a test drive, I'd pass on the extra $4,000 investment. My Forester is a fast enough for my needs. My vote is no! Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--slow car. 01 Forester--fast car.
  25. I actually met someone the other day that though the Avalanche was good looking There's no help for some folks I hate to bring it up but GM owns Chevrolet and GM owns an interest in Subaru I wonder if some sick concept car designer is going to try and put an avalanche front end on a Baha? and re-badge it like they did to the Forester. Photoshop boys.... Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--That is not the Chev H2 hummer, rather my SubaruHummer is modeled after the AM General hummer!!! 01 Forester--already has a GM counterpart
