  1. Subaru's are great, I've had one of mine for 23 years so far... Our Forester does everything we ask it to. (except climb steep hills ) Welcome to the board, I think you'll love your new car. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  2. If a Subaru dealer did it, there should be a record of it on the Subaru Computer database. A Head gasket could blow on an old one as well as a newer one. Miles may or may not have anything to do with the Subaru HG Problem. My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  3. You got to do your civic duty and fix it for the lady. You'll feel better. Tell her you like those cars and if she ever wants to sell it you'd be interested. It's easy for me to volunteer your time My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  4. The nice thing about propane is you can restart your car at odd angles. I have found my Subie won't start on steep inclines or side hills. Propane eliminates this problem. It's sort of like a poor mans fuel injection. I'd love to do it on the buggy. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  5. You can also just measure, http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=1386&sort=1&cat=500&page=2 I made these "railroad wheels" into 4X140, with good old fashion tools. Not rocket science, you just have to get it right the first time. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  6. Harv, That is with out a doubt the cleanest Brat in the state! There are no old subies around here anymore. They all rusted You scored! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  7. Welcome to the board! I'd think you could clean the insides of the duct work through the front of the vents by reaching in with a flexable cleaning/retreiving tool or dropping your heater blower motor and gaining access that way. A compressor and a long nozzle may blow that crap out? I'd be careful about breathing that crap too! Mouse droppings can contain the Haunta virus? Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  8. Boy! There are still a few tricks we haven't learned aparently. Just like everyone else I'd like to know how all that gearing voodoo worked! Thanks for the writeup! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--needs gearing 01 Forester--needs gearing
  9. Good Score! Why can't I ever find one of those freebies It seems a little clean to carve up into a monster. I would make a nice driver---for a while Drive through SLC when you move it south! Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  10. Welcome to the board! These guys know everything!
  11. Sounds like a trip to the junkyard is in order. You may have poped a clip off the back of your slider? I had a problem with the hot cold selector for the heater. It tends to stick if you turn it all the way over to the "hot" side. I got around this by simply not turning it all the way over to the hot side. The air seems just as hot but it doesn't stick. This is fairly common, from what I understand. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--Sticky heater 01 Forester
  12. I'm using a sheet of 1/8 steel. I feel it's more of an early warning system than a protection system. As I have it figured, if I hear it hit, I'll incur minimal damage and be able to back off the rock in question. Anymore protection gives less clearance. There is kind of a trade off between clearance, protection and weight.
  13. A Targa top is a logical choice for the manufacturer because of the added safety of the Targa/roll bar. It's hard the make parts that don't exist. It's easy to remove parts from pictures... My .01 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

I have an old CB I was going to install in the Buggy. It's a 1978 vintage CB. I think the antenna is probably shot. Is it worth getting a new CB and antenna or are the old ones just the same as the new ones? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  15. I stare at my buggy all day long... It inspires me... http://usmb.net/gallery/albuo21/MVC_187F
  16. Morgan, here is a shot of it in the country side... http://www.f4x4.is/new/photoalbum/?file=oldsite/893/5545 I went to the site and found this... http://www.f4x4.is/new/photoalbum/?file=oldsite/308/1709 It's a Samurai with a Subaru Motor? Plain old Subaru? http://www.f4x4.is/new/photoalbum/?file=oldsite/1635/10394 http://www.f4x4.is/new/photoalbum/?file=oldsite/3504/23313 This is the site I did a search from for Subaru. http://www.f4x4.is/new/search/default.aspx?search=subaru&category=12 They build um different than we do... Cool Pics, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  17. I don't go to Dealers, I go to the board! This board seems to know a heck of a lot about Subies and what ails them. Welcome to the board, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  18. Give us some time lapse photos... So we can witness the transformation
  19. I think you purchased a fine apartment. You'll get used to it.. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  20. According to the Ebay Q & A's, it looks like it won't fit any Subaru.
  21. Depending on what your going to be doing, a bar behind the seat may keep the roof from droping in? A lateral/diagonal support should keep things from shifting during a roll, but this eliminates any real use of the back seat? What are you going to use the Subie for?
  22. That is a Brat! Not somthing like a Brat. That's the Tamiya Mudblaster R/C in 1/10th scale. Wanna sell it? (without the wing) Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  23. So, I'm thinkin maybe Exocage! A cage would rage! Prolly not practicle :-\
  24. I think Ross is on the right track. I had a bad wire that caused the same symptoms. I looked at everything but the wires. Get a new set of wires and see what happens... I'd bet you cure it. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester
  25. Heater hose, tune up and coolant flush shouldn't take more than an hour. The rest is kinda hard to speculate on. Skill and familarity with the car are going to affect the rest of your chores...
