Busted bumper

It may be able to be popped out but the paint may crack during the process? Let me guess...no one left a note on your car claiming responsibility? Try popping it out, and see what happens? Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
It might be fun to make a buggy out of it??? Serious weight loss may make up for lack of gearing. On the other hand it's a perfect rally car. Your not going to hurt the body. However, I'd still remove some weight. Remember, If you break it then you won't have anything to play with... Keep it together and play with it! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Are we missing the obvious These cars were not designed for use here! Our needs don't apply. These vehicles have a purpose. Traveling over snowpack and soft terrain. Somehow I think they have figured out how to do that. They live there you don't. I don't think that we have a secret idea about "clearance" that they have never thought of? Give'um some credit, if they needed it they would have built it in... These vehicles were not designed for our terrain! Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

What to do with this 82 GL?
Sweet82 replied to SuBrat84's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
You got to do your civic duty and fix it for the lady. You'll feel better. Tell her you like those cars and if she ever wants to sell it you'd be interested. It's easy for me to volunteer your time My .02 Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
The nice thing about propane is you can restart your car at odd angles. I have found my Subie won't start on steep inclines or side hills. Propane eliminates this problem. It's sort of like a poor mans fuel injection. I'd love to do it on the buggy. Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

You can also just measure, http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/photos/showphoto.php?photo=1386&sort=1&cat=500&page=2 I made these "railroad wheels" into 4X140, with good old fashion tools. Not rocket science, you just have to get it right the first time. Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -

Harv, That is with out a doubt the cleanest Brat in the state! There are no old subies around here anymore. They all rusted You scored! Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester -
Welcome to the board! I'd think you could clean the insides of the duct work through the front of the vents by reaching in with a flexable cleaning/retreiving tool or dropping your heater blower motor and gaining access that way. A compressor and a long nozzle may blow that crap out? I'd be careful about breathing that crap too! Mouse droppings can contain the Haunta virus? Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Good Score! Why can't I ever find one of those freebies It seems a little clean to carve up into a monster. I would make a nice driver---for a while Drive through SLC when you move it south! Glenn, 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Welcome to the board! These guys know everything! -
Sounds like a trip to the junkyard is in order. You may have poped a clip off the back of your slider? I had a problem with the hot cold selector for the heater. It tends to stick if you turn it all the way over to the "hot" side. I got around this by simply not turning it all the way over to the hot side. The air seems just as hot but it doesn't stick. This is fairly common, from what I understand. Good Luck, Glenn 82 SubaruHummer--Sticky heater 01 Forester

I'm using a sheet of 1/8 steel. I feel it's more of an early warning system than a protection system. As I have it figured, if I hear it hit, I'll incur minimal damage and be able to back off the rock in question. Anymore protection gives less clearance. There is kind of a trade off between clearance, protection and weight.

I have an old CB I was going to install in the Buggy. It's a 1978 vintage CB. I think the antenna is probably shot. Is it worth getting a new CB and antenna or are the old ones just the same as the new ones? Glenn 82 SubaruHummer 01 Forester

Where to mount rollcage
Sweet82 replied to [HTi]Johnson's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Depending on what your going to be doing, a bar behind the seat may keep the roof from droping in? A lateral/diagonal support should keep things from shifting during a roll, but this eliminates any real use of the back seat? What are you going to use the Subie for?
