  1. You can weld it up if your in RWD mode. I'd weld it REAL good, cause that much power will snap a crap weld in no time. If I were you though, i'd work on finding a RX Tranny or a GL10 Tranny with Full Time 4WD. -Brian
  2. Oh yeah, it was the 1st thing I looked for when i found out the car had been broken into. Ive had 2 tool boxes stolen from my car's in the past. I hate having to replace tools cause you dont realize how valuable they are until you have to buy them, again. -Brian
  3. I grabbed a Volvo IC from the junkyard, and fitted it to the Legacy cause i wanted to use one on my turbo legacy. The thing was as large as the radiator on the legacy... ...good luck fitting it to a EA82. I suggest you use something like the Saab 900 IC. -Brian
  4. It didnt really hit me until my drive home from work, but the thought of some scum bag ripping into my dash and treating my car like a rag doll, that pisses me off more than missing my stereo. The stereo was a Kenwood CD player that came out of the Legacy. I'll be replacing it with a Sony CD Player that my friend is selling me for $20. They also made away with my CD Wallet, good thing i "Backed them up" in MP3 format -Brian
  5. Yeh, it sucks. At least there's no body damage or broken glass. They just got my stereo, but luckily they left all 3 tool boxes behind. Maybe cause they were in the back and i have the cargo cover extended. They also got into my Legacy, but there's really nothing in there for them to take. My AMP & Speakers are still in the legacy, but those were left behind. Whoever did it, stole my neigbors truck tho. Sucks, but i guess I Needed to re-wire my stereo anyways. -Brian
  6. ALready done rich Look at how old this thread is. Since then, ive had a Turbo EJ22 & now I have a Turbo EA82 in my RX -Brian
  7. You heard it i cant reply cause your inbox is full. -Brian
  8. For the family and trips, you might want to look into a EA82. Something in the Years of 85-87 would be good as they mostly came with 5spd and Dual Range 4WD. Thats FWD, 4WDHI & 4WD LOW. 80-84 models came with 4speed Dual ranges, but they dont have as much room. Plus there are alot more comforts available to the EA82 like power steering that will make for easy drives. The EA82 is alittle more high maitenance than the EA81, as it has timing belts. But regular oil changes and maitenance will keep the car on the road for hundreds of thousands of miles. Or offroad for that matter. -Brian
  9. Pretty much any 4WD subaru will do. But here are some things that will be very helpfull when your offroading: 5 speed manual is a must Dual Range 4WD Is a great help Fuel Injection will make trails alot easier And check your timing belts, ask questions about them. The worse thing that can happen is to lose a timing belt on a trail. -Brian
  10. Yes as a matter of fact. ive never rolled any of my Subaru's, but ive had them at much more extreme angles. Growing up in Alaska I drove my 1st subaru, a 78 DL Wagon, up the side of a snowbank. I swear i was close to 70-80 degree incline, a pure wall of snow & ice. Gave all my passengers the puckerfactor, but i just drove the car down off the incline. -Brian
  11. Not difficult at all... so long as you know what you are doing. -Brian
  12. HAHAHA, but maybe he's still having the same problem. I sure hope he's not, cause if he hasnt gotten the problem fixed by now, that probably means he blew one of his tires out or something. I don't think Jay could drive this long with that shaking. -Brian
  13. Nobody knows how much they will withstand. Seems anyone who tries to build one up to above 200hp, blow them up. So I'd say about 200hp is your limit. If you swaped parts and modified the heads you could probably reach 250hp. But by that time you would have spent more $$ than it'd take to swap a EJ20 or EJ22 over, and those engines are proven to take more than 400hp. -Brian
  14. It takes alot more than that to roll one. -Brian
  15. Just use a '87 XT as your search querey. Your parts store should be able to get rotors for them. Goto Napa, cause if they dont have it they'll order it for you, and they dont employ idiots at Napa like they do Kragen and Pep Boys. -Brian
  16. I'd suggest cutting the hassle and replacing it with coilover. If you repair the car with junkyard parts, you risk the chance of them failing again. You know 1st hand how reliable they are. Replacing it with new parts would cost more than a set of standard suspension. Ive never had pnumatic suspension, so i dont know what all the hype is about, but i know about all the headaches. -Brian
  17. How far from Rancho Cordova are you? Im sure there's a set there, and i'll be there Saturday morning. If you can make it when im there, you'll have someone to help pull the parts. 1/2 price weekend should be able to get you all the parts you need for under $100 -Brian
  18. oh no Tachometer, it is a simple system that can easily be replaced with coilovers Take the opportunity this weekend to get everything 1/2 off -Brian
  19. All the better. A EA81 can do that no problem -Brian
  20. If I go with the Legacy hub, will i need to use Legacy Tie Rod ends? Or will the XT6 ones still do? And also, are Legacy CV joints the same length as EA82 CV's? Anyone know for sure? The guys on Legacy Central say Legacy L & Legacy Turbo CV's are the same... but FWD Legacy CV's are beefier. Just not positive if the spline count and lengths are the same. -Brian
  21. I say you find a cheap EA81 to drive around as your daily driver. Then take the spare cash and dump it into the RX. You'll have a very decent daily driver (EA81's are bulletproof) and a nice racecar $2000 can go along way for a RX. -Brian
  22. I had a can of White Lythium Grease in a spray can. Maybe that would work alittle better than PB. It was definatly alot thicker, but not near as thick as real grease. -Brian
  23. Hehehe... i dont like my dremel near as much as I like my Subaru's Plus, ive only had 1 dremel, ive had 11 Subarus. Just wait till im done with my hood scoop idea I'll probably have to use the fiberglass for that. -Brian
  24. Fiberglass was another option, but i didnt know about it till after I purchased the bondo and the mesh to fill the gaps. I will paint the center support black when the grill is done. Right now its only about 95% complete. I need to do alittle more bondo work and alot more sanding, then paint the grill. I dont think i want to put wire mesh behind the grill, but I will definatly be painting that center support black to hide it alittle. NKX your grill looks nice, but we have two different grills. My grill originally started as a 3dr coupe grill, your grill is a EA82 wagon grill. Still, good job I will be getting a SVX Hood emblem to replace my grill emblem. I will mount it to the hood, in the center in the very front... kinda like how the SVX has it. -Brian
