  1. Not only ruin the waranty, but possibly weaken the CV Hub itself. What are you going to use to cut it? Whatever you use, be very careful, and i would probably remove the hub and do it on a bench or something instead of hunched over next to your car waving a dremel or something around. I vote: no, leave it there. -Brian
  2. With minor off-roading the LSD will be a world of difference. The welded diff is much better, but alot higher maitenance. And if your rig is a trail/get to work rig, then the LSD will make it alot easier for you. Lifted or not. -Brian
  3. Make sure you pull it off a Wagon with the same headlight setup. The Quad headlight fenders arent the same as dual headlight fenders. The only difference is the front where it mates to the headlight bezel, but its enough of a difference to make it not work. -Brian
  4. That was a write-up done by a Datsun 510 owner. It was submitted and edited by Ken (QMan). We could use a better article, but the one in the old USRM does a pretty good job of explaining the task. From what ive heard, its not that easy. -Brian
  5. I really dont think i should count all the ppl who will be with my group. There might be 40+ I will be traveling alone in my car, so I'll just count 1 for now. Ken, it looks like it'll be a huge turnout. -Brian
  6. They should be. As long as its not an XT6 -Brian
  7. Are you using rear drums or rear disc's? You might want to do the rear disk swap before you do the rear e-brake. The rear disc's should grab alittle better than the drums. -Brian
  8. You want a roof basket??? See Soobme. He made mine, and at an EXTREMLY reasonable price. I was quoted over $250 for a custom made roof basket, the one I got from Tony was made to my spec's and was less than 1/2 that price. here are pix of mine: Im sure tony can make it so it'll attatch to your existing runningboards. Or you could remove them and attatch it to the gutters like I have. His nickname on here is Soobme... shoot him a PM and im sure he can help you out. -Brian
  9. It might work, the hardest part is bypassing the way the lines are run. Like you said, Subaru is setup FL/RR and FR/RL. You'll need to install new plumbing to get both rear tires to lock instead of one rear and one front. I think a hydrolic lock isnt the best way to go. You might be better off trying to find rear calipers that'll work. Maybe look into adapting Legacy calipers or something, and use a cable system with rear disc's. -Brian
  10. If the peddle is sticking, its probably cause whatever you used to attatch the 2 levers is catching on something. When i did this mod for the 1st time, I used some type of metal that kept getting stuck. And it would make my 2nd barrel stay open. It caused the car to idle at 3000rpm, and always wanted to speed up when it was in gear. -Brian
  11. Only really works at WOT since both barrels will be open. best on freeway's and uphills. Dont expect to beat honda's off the line, its not that much better. -Brian
  12. Only if you drive at WOT at all times. Keep the peddle off the metal and you'll be fine. -Brian
  13. Im planning on being at the show until Monday morning. Then leaving Hood river MOnday morning and high tailing it to Sacramento by monday night. -Brian
  14. Yup, works pretty good. Thats the reason i put it up there. Ive done it to 2 carbs. -Brian
  15. Im sure there will be TONS of pix. I came home from the WCSS3 with over 130 images. Hopefully i'll have a new digital camera to use for this trip. -Brian
  16. Prolly best for you guys to meet us in Bend andrew. not sure of a ETA, wasn't planning on rolling through bend. Hood River might be 3 hours from Bend, but the convoy would be rolling in late at night. If we were to stay in bend, that means we'd get to roll through the convoy in the morning in broad daylight. Im planning on camping in Bend. So andrew, i should be somewhere in bend by like 8pm Friday night. Hopefully hangin with the rest of the subaru crew. -Brian
  17. Looking good. I was looking through your album and saw an Intercooler among all the other new toys. Did you turbo your car? -Brian
  18. Sizzor jacks are better than your arms for lifting the car... but thats about it. I would use one in an emergency, but not as a regular garage jack. I once had a sizzor jack fold in half cause my ex-GF forgot to set the e-brake, and her blazer started to roll backwards. Good thing it happend as i was raising the car, and not while I was changing the tire... but yeah, it folded in half like a piece of paper. Trust it to lift the car, but never trust it to hold the car. Subaru's can be lifted from the engine cross-member or the rear diff housing. -Brian
  19. I guess we'll just play it by ear then. I dont really feel like doing the trip in one day. Ive never been to Bend, and i think i'll hang out there for the night. It'll give me a chance to converse alittle before the show. Then bright and early SAturday i'll roll out with anyone else who's left, and make it a spectacular entrance to the show -Brian
  20. Oh... well, all who plan on making it in one day say "I". I know I could do it, but that mean's I'd have to leave behind all the slow EA81's following me -Brian
  21. I dont think we can make it from Sacramento to Hood river in one day. It'd probably be best to crash in Bend on Friday night. -Brian
  22. Well. Looks like a HUGE convoy of Subarus will be traveling into Bend on friday night before the show. That's probably where we'll call it a night. With that in mind, we need to figure out where all these Subaru's are going to park and sleep for the night. What does the Motel situation look like in Bend? Or would we rather campout? I'll have a tent and rations traveling with me, and with my budget it might be the only way to go. -Brian
  23. i-link is just another word for FireWire. Any FireWire hub should work, and cables as well. Sounds like fun, but i dont have room to tote a PS2 and a TV. I do have a force feedback steeringwheel by Logitech made for GT3. I think i should have room for that. -Brian
  24. Ive been thinking too. Thinking about leaving Sacramento with some of the So.Cal guys on Friday in the AM. Then we'd meet with the Nevada Caravan in Klammath Falls and travel to Bend. In bend we should be able to meet up with another caravan and travel as one HUGE subaru convoy. Its all documented in the meet and greet section. -Brian
