TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center

quickie (rwd conversion)
TheSubaruJunkie replied to 88rxsedan's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would do it with a D/R 5spd, but not a FT4WD 5spd. Not sure if it will do any damage or not. -Brian -
Thats what I thought to, but its listed with a EA82. -Brian
-
Is it the same body style as your 88 GL Wagon? -Brian

Downshifting into 3RD...

Yes, shorter throw would be alot better. Guess i better dig through the old email and find that -Brian -
Downshifting into 3RD...
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, something I need to do. The shifter doesnt need to be any shorter. With the 3" lift, the shifter is already 3" shorter. -Brian -
another helpful VW tool???
TheSubaruJunkie replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It may. I have to replace the rotors on my wagon, and i know im going to have a hard time with the drivers side.... since the CV was re-threaded, it now has a bolt that isnt 36mm on it. Just thought that if that were the case, this tool wouldnt work with all Subaru CV's. Best of luck, looks like a good idea... but when im removing CV's, usually a fresh new one is going back in so I dont really worry about banging it up -Brian -

TheSubaruJunkie replied to mcbrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
wouldnt it depend on the thread pitch of the CV? I know alot of reman CV's i get have different thread pitch if the prev owner mangled the CV. -Brian -
Downshifting into 3RD...
TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thats the problem Mick, i dont have any room at all between 3rd and my radio. Since the radio isnt stock, it sticks out more. I could shift hard into 3rd anytime I'd like, and ensure its stays in gear, but i'd have to buy a box of bandaids for my knuckles. -Brian -

TheSubaruJunkie replied to TheSubaruJunkie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Oh yeah, and for those that dont know... its on the '84 Lifted Wagon, EA81 4spd Dual Range 4WD. -Brian -
Yeah, its not working anymore... I can shift from 2nd to 3rd relativly easy, but if im downshifting from 4th to 3rd, sometimes it wont grab and the tranny will slip out of gear, which usually ends up grinding until i can grab the shifter and slam it back into 3rd again. Is this pre-mature tranny meltdown? The car is a slug in 4th gear, been thinking of doing something about it. Not sure if I wanna do the whole 5spd deal, but I would like to get 3rd gear back. -Brian

EA 81 xmission Q's, Part 2
TheSubaruJunkie replied to NV Zeno's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yup, thats your pilot bearing. Im going to need a new tranny soon. 3rd gear is going out on mine, and i would like to have the tranny with the lower 4th gear. Any identifiable marks would be great, anything or anyway to verify the tranny im getting is of the lower ratio. -Brian -
West Coast Subaru Show is set!!!!
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Qman's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
The caravan will most likely be 1 day there, 1 day back. Cant imagine it taking us more than an entire day to travel into Oregon. Keep an eye in the meet and greet section for all the details, we'll plan more when the time nears. -Brian -
I have yet to see the page with all the images, i havent had time to compile everything to add it. -Brian

I'm thinking this is VERY bad
TheSubaruJunkie replied to Bratwerst's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I doubt this car will be sticking around for long. Knowing Erik, he'll need to make room for another Erik, just get another block. No need messing around with this thing anymore, maybe take that 1/2 of the block and hang it in the garage to show off the damage -Brian -

What rig did this come from? That is definatly a sign of you being screwed. -Brian -
Hey Richard! Good to see you again. You did the right thing by getting the Legacy. The ECVT Tranny's are junk from what ive heard. Is your Legacy 5spd? -Brian

Weber Carb Group Buy
TheSubaruJunkie replied to bigjim5551212's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Are these adapters manufactured by you? Or purchased from a resaler? If you can ensure propper jet sizing and can get some pictures of the adapters... i'm in. -Brian -
What do you guys think?
TheSubaruJunkie replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
IF its 4WD, i say lower the front suspension a tad. Will give it the authentic Subaru Rake Should make it look real good with those rims. -Brian
