Aftermarket Fuel pump's that help Weber's
That sounds like a sweet deal. Is there a part number or something I can use to buy it locally? Cant really wait for S&H. Do they require a pressure regulator? -Brian

Should I just stick with a stock Subaru fuel pump then?? -Brian

Aftermarket Fuel pump's that help Weber's
Well... the frikken Wagon died again last night on my way home from work. Definatly a fuel problem. Not sure if its the Carb or the Fuel pump.... so im replacing both. Ive already decided to get a Weber, so that will be on order very soon. But, i need to get a fuel pump ASAP, so i'd like to get one that will keep my weber happy. What is the standard PSI for EA81 fuel pumps?? Anyone know? And what would be a good PSI to keep the weber running at peak performance? -Brian

Building a hot pre 1976
Brian. Head to the Pick-n-pull in Carson city. They have alot of Gen1 cars from time to time, even seen some Gen1 Coupes and sedans that might be better suited as a racer than a Wagon. I refuse to sell the '78 as parts. The car is too straight and clean to part it out. But i wouldnt mind seeing it being turned into a racer. I myself was thinking of doing the same thing to it. I had a Fulltime 4WD 5spd with center diff lock, but it was towed by the state for not being regg'd. So now i dont have the tranny. I also had plans on building a EA81T but cant find one. Anyhow... i'll let you know if any leads develope. -Brian

lil' Roo's Old Age slowly creeps up...

Building a hot pre 1976
I believe to be smog exempt, the car has to be 30yrs old. So it would have to be pre-'74 at this point. 2006 you could do pre-'76 Good luck finding a chassi tho. There's a dude in Grass Valley that has an automotive shop. He has two 360's sitting out front. Ive stopped and talked to him, and he mentioned he used to have a FF1 and a few GLF's etc... Also, there's a guy who lived in Northern Nevada/California (cant remember where right now) who had a '76 4WD Wagon that needed a new engine. Body was 100%. He wanted $200 for it, but i couldnt find a way to get it back to sacramento. That was about a year ago. Not sure what he ended up doing with the car. Maybe i'll contact him and let you know what happens. I get funny looks in my lifted wagon as well... but its not as big as your MB, and only has 75hp. Talk about slow. -Brian

How would you know anything about having a 8" lift John? You've never seen anything like it in your life. I however had a brief chance to wheel with jared and his rig, and i'm sure that car will last a very long time. You going to limp it to LV Jared? -Brian

Building a hot pre 1976
Oh yeah... and is this your rig? I saw this parked next to Pick N Pull a few months ago. Cant be very many like it. Looks like its a Mercedes on a Toyo Frame. If so, very nice work. -Brian

Building a hot pre 1976
I live in sacramento, not too far from P.Pines at all. As a matter of fact, i just came into a cherry '78 Wagon. Same body style, has a 1600cc 4WD 4spd. Contact me and we can talk -Brian

Rear fender cut with lift and big wheels?

That post looks REAL close to the tire. Looks like you need a lift Car's looking great tho. -Brian

Are you a Driver or just luggage?
everything i know about racing, i've learned from Gran Turismo. Now that im closer to Laguna Seca and Sears Point (or whatever its called now) I'll have to look into some racing classes and courses -Brian

EA81 2 square headlight to 4 square headlight swap
I would do some experimenting with the headlight assembly and the grill setup. See if you can bolt the entire headlight assembly from the donar car onto your Hatch. Not sure what the metal on the Hatch looks like, you might need to make 2 openings to fit the high beams. You'll also need to get the wiring figured out as well. -Brian

I've been suckered....maybe a bit winded
Just swap for coil overs. Might be a cop out, but will fix the problem perminatly. If you replace or repair them, there's always a chance they'll go out again. -Brian

It begins today...
get a set of 8mm wires... i got a custom fit set for a V8, and cut mine to size. They work great with my coil... both are made by Accel. Also, get NGK plugs, the best for our sube's. -Brian

no washer nozzle in rear? 80-84 wagons? (Nevermind.... it was filled in very well...
guess not. My '84 GL has one, '83 GL had one, as a matter of fact, all the wagons ive had have had one, but ive never owned a DL. -Brian

Random dying problem is back :( Maybe carb??
Yah, i got the 2nd edition HTKYSA, but i also have the FSM for '83. Not sure the model of the carb tho. Pimped GL, this is a '84 EA81 wagon, pretty much a 4cyl lawn mower engine. There are no crank sensors or anything, thanks for the tip tho If i replace it, it wont be with another hitachi. I'll tear down my crappy hitachi tonight just to see what parts look like what, and where i can fix what. -Brian

Here we go again...(pic from trip added)
Not anymore, they used to in the '80's but stopped cause of the rust it caused. Now they use sand. EA81's were destroyed by the salt tho, you'll never find a rust-less EA81. -Brian

those with aftermarket decks
I didnt read all of that reply, so it might have been said... but the only thing i can suggest is to re-wire your speakers, and do not use the shared ground that Subaru Has. Expecially with aftermarket decks, it's just asking for horrible sound. Its a PITA to re-wire your speakers, but its well worth it in the end. -Brian

376?? Isnt that a Mat-Su valley number? Glad you made it... never a doubt. I miss drives like that. Here in cali, a 700 mile drive takes you through city's and you have to hop on and off of 10 different freeways to make it where you want to go. At least in Alaska you point your car either north, or south, and keep the foot on the peddle and watch the scenery pass you by. -Brian
