  1. today EA81 engine ended up being a EA71 1600 so I went with this EA82 1800 diff under transaxle 2" forward and 8" down front, engine needs moter mount crossmember side veiw showing diff under stock trans were axles used to hookup
  2. got the frontend bolted up ended up doing a 8" lift and brought forward 2" next install dual range and engine looks like EA81s going in , just have to swap out the fuel pump for a carb , going in today

  6. Progress or degress matters who you ask ignoring the back for now , will get the front mounted up with a engine and tranny thrown in, this frontend is from the silver car a built a few years ago Yes thats a rear diff stuffed in the front thats in the stuffed location
  7. cleaned up the front and dropped the stock frontend parts, and mocked up the front diff crossmember from my old silver shorty looks like will aime at 7-1/2 in drop at the engine crossmember and bring it for ward 2" to help with tire clearence
  8. body bolts are 12mm x 1.25 pitch
  9. it clears even with the 31s stuffed all the way up, not much room for upper arms ., just might get some work done on it today , trying to decide if to stick with the subaru front end or solid axle it, leaning towards the suby stuff as I already have it and like the lite nimbleness , I guess if in the futre I wanted a solid axle up front I could always change it out , and i already have a nissan 720 t-case , its raining today good day to be in the shop
  10. you coming by this week? or are you preppin for your big trip?
  11. Ive wheeled a welded stock 3.9 subaru Diff for the last few years, the diff will hold up , Ive broke 3 stub shafts , ( thats the splined part sticking out the diff its hollow and thats the weak point ) ive brocken 2 rear axles and seen 1 other rear brake this is on a EA82 , 2 of the axles snapped the shaft in 2 and 1 the cup part gave out, and this is with a 27" tire, I would suggest go with a LSD , or weld it up and be prepared to fix axles and stub shafts on the trail, good luck
  12. Hey Jeff been a while since weve been out want to go to walker next friday or saturday SJR
  13. you will want a dual range tranny for that and if the diff ratio is 3.7 you will also need dirrerent front axles
