I don't trust quickie oil change places, I do it myself. Beyond theft they mostly hire people that don't know or care what they are doing. After they used a wrench on my oil filer years ago on a truck of mine and dented it, I swore off those places. They denied it of course but the situation was such that after you get the truck back and look down there is a dent in the oil filter and you haven't driven it, where did it come from? I wonder if you can place a lien on their store?

YTD BRZ sales are down 34%. Kind of hard to make a business case out of those numbers. Of course the market is telling them what they want in the BRZ but they don't seem to care much. The BRZ isn't the Subaru halo brand, that is the WRX. And Subaru never really wanted to do the project but had to be dragged into it by Toyota. I see more reasons why Subaru would justify dropping the BRZ than I see justifying them keeping it. Besides their Foresters and Outbacks are selling like hot cakes. I am really keen on that specific tire (BFG TA KM2). Would a 4" lift work? Or would I have to go to a 6" lift? I could go down to a LT215/75R15/C 100 Q. It says the diameter of that one is 27.9". http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-selector/category/off-road-tires/mud-terrain-t-a-km2/tire-details

I have a 2 inch lift that I have yet to install. First I need to do the 6 lug redrill of the hubs so I can use a 15" wheel. How do I measure this?

I am betting 20 years from now an unmodified BRZ will be a rarity. For that matter so would an unmodified WRX.

Time will tell. If they cancel the BRZ I am buying the last one.

Power issue could be fuel pressure related(change fuel filter, check fuel pressure). Idle/stalling issues IAC or worn distributor. The wires into the IAC plug can become intermittent. Check with ohm meter while wiggling the wires (disconnect battery first though).

You do not need them on the engine. I took mine off.

How does a supercharger "destroy gasoline"? It is simply adding more air to the combustion chamber is it not? Doesn't burning the gasoline in the combustion chamber destroy it? I don't think the EA series was ever really meant for performance. Yes they had a turbo version that added about 10% more hp for about 200% more potential problems. The EA82 was a step on Subaru's learning path to their current engines. Without the lessons learned on the EA series, the EJ series would be crap. If you're rich and want power you are going to buy the top of the line STI anyway, not an inexpensive EA series car. If you are not rich and want more power, you are probably going to EJ it.

Reasons NOT to "EJ it" 1) You don't have the tools, skills, time, place or money. 2) You are happy with your car as it is. 3) You have finally mastered all the tricks to maintaining the EA82 and don't want to start over. 4) You don't have anything to prove. 5) You don't want to spend 2 hours explaining to the parts counter moron that even though the "book" says your year and model of car has xyz part, you really need the part for an engine out of a EJ model year. They have enough trouble getting the correct parts when everything is stock. 6) All of the books written on how to troubleshoot an EA car are written for unmodified cars. 7) Having lived through the decades of 70's and 80's American cars that fail either by design from the corporate boardroom or incompetence of factory assembly workers, you are really enjoying something reliable. If you bought he EA new, you have enjoyed DECADES of getting in and it starting up on every turn of the key. Why jinx it now? 8) You want a stock original car and it is your car damn it. 9) EJ engines with all the ecu and wiring and sensors needed to make it work are unavailable in your area or overly expensive. 10) It is currently a reliable daily driver that lets you bring home the bacon and do not want to jeopardize that.

I think about $220 was what I paid last time I replaced one (2013). Not sure if that is reasonable or not but after 6 years of getting by with a cracked windshield I decided to just do it. Kind of made the car feel somewhat like new compared to the old cracked junky one.

I am thinking you can pay for your windshields with a youtube channel and a compilation of greatest windshield cracking episodes. After 20 years as the original owner, I am on windshield number three with my Subaru (UNO) and was thinking I was somehow a rock magnet for those damned semi trucks. But after hearing your story, I feel I am fortunate. Thank you.

Since you own a Loyale, I presume you aren't Nelson Rockefeller with billions in the bank to hire a team of machinists and mechanics. That is probably what it would take to make such an engine swap. But who knows, maybe you could have some fun redneckin it together. Just don't expect an easy time of it and if the Loyale is your daily, get a bike or enjoy walking while you do the project over the next 3 years because a swap and go weekend job this is not. The first question to ask in this fantasy is "Would the engine bolt up to the transmission?". Good luck.

Did you leave the hood up or the car unlocked while it was there? I live in a pretty safe neighborhood and I never leave the car unlocked. Everywhere I go I always lock it up. To be betrayed by someone you thought was a friend has to hurt. I am sorry to hear that. Do you think maybe it was an immature prank that went wrong or they definitely had sinister intent? I have read that crime in Honduras is pretty bad and bus drivers get hijacked regularly for ransoms. Just remember that this too can be fixed. Heck your uncle mangled the bumblebeast and you fixed it then. Looks like you may be splitting a transmission. If you want to do the bearing and seals (ala GLoyale) , PM me and I will obtain them for your (No charge my friend). You have the TM70F 5 speed manual FWD trans? If so that is the same one I did last year. I even did a video on it I never released. You will be amazed it shifts like brand new with those replacements. Is there any way something can be shipped to you without you having to pay money to get it?

If there is a lot of water it will settle to the bottom and should be able to drain most of it out. If not, then drain into a container where the water will separate to the bottom. Either pour the top floating oil into another clean container or use a container that can be drained from the bottom in a controlled manner to let just the water out. You probably won't get it all out but you will at least get some if not most of it out which is better than nothing.

Those were replaced last year. I have another identical Loyale Sedan (1992) that does have worn out rear shocks and I cannot get it to make the bang sound no matter how hard I drive it up the ramp.

Do you ever hear gurgling when you are stopped at a light or driving? Sounds like your tummy rumbling but it is actually air bubbles in the cooling system.

I have had my car brand new since 1994 and at 42K mile the cheap crap plastic radiator sprung a leak (surpise, the Subaru warranty only covers it up to 40K miles). I replaced it myself, asking the radiator shop for one with metal endcaps. At 180K miles on the ODO I still have that same metal end radiator. Never had an overheat.
