  1. anything will fit if you want it bad enough.. do a search on the board for the 78 turbo brat
  2. EA81, OHV engines can be fairly easily put in the 100-110HP range. EA82T comes stock with 115 HP and id overhead cam.. I personally prefer the EA82T, however you will get conflicting opinions on which is 'better'. There's someone on the BYB(Australian) board that has a porsche replicar with an ea82T. Might be some onfo available there as well.. http://www.ausubaru.com
  3. No, it isn't some funky alaskan sh!t. its just heavy duty spray paint. Kinda expensive, but can take a beating and high heat. great for painting under the hood and such
  4. what specifically do you mean? are you looking at an XT, XT Turbo or an XT6?
  5. is it a 3spd or 4 spd auto.. my 3spd auto would be at about 3800rpms at 65.. 41-4200rpm @70mph
  6. One big plus.. if its FT4WD 5 Spd, it probably has a 3.90 rear LSD.
  7. I have wondered this myself, becayse I have seen plenty of legacies badged as 4wd instead of awd
  8. Probably because I've been there.... I'll stick with the west coast.. Texas is only temporary
  9. Lunch AND beer? I'm leaving right now, should be there sometime monday night:D
  10. a guy on the byb board recently found one of those EA81 Dual port engines in someones back yard down on OzLand.. cool find
  11. Could also be that someone put an XT strut on one side.. theyre a little shorter.. or someone put 85-86 struts on it, which are adjustable, and they aren't adjustaed equally.
  12. 12 is normal for just about any car with a bunch of accessories on
  13. its not a difference related to mpfi vs spfi. Its because one is from an 85, which uses vacuum advance, and on is from an 89 which uses a CAS/optical setup. 85-86 have vacuum advance. 87-up do not(with the possible exception of 87 carb models.. don't know.. never had one).
  14. It will be spfi with 5 spd 4wd(S/R push button). Never seen a DL with D/R, but its possible
  15. UWWYSAWYSITSMB Dennis, you kill me
  16. All kidding aside, the factory spoiler mounts are the only place that thing will even look remotely cool.
  17. Wow dennis, I'm going to have you come over and o mine next time I need them done.. the past 2 times I have done it, there was more than enough pressure to put an eye out without a spring compressor(keep in mind I am referring to removing the springs from the strut.. I know you know that dennis, but I didn't want to confuse anyone)
  18. 14's are easier to find, in my experience. Also, being an ex peugeot owner, I can tell you that the spare was a 15"steel, but I doubt it was any weaker than any 14". Not all peugeot wheels are mounted with ball type lug nuts. I have 4 slotted ones and one with round holes, and all 5 take the standard subaru acorn nuts. Only difference between them appears to be that one has slots and the other has holes. There are different types of 15's as well. On one of Erics old Brats that now lives here in TX, the wheels are 15" pugs with no slots, no holes, solid disc. many of the 15" pugs that I have seen (and the few that I have owned) were 15's with holes.. looked just like the 14's with holes. I paid somewhere between 80-100 for four with mismatched, but good tires on them. I soon removed them and put new tires one.. I then bought my 5th at PNP for $14 with a good tire that was even the right size. Oh yeah.. thought I would mention that the steel ones with the weird lugnuts are, in my peugeot owning experience predominantly found on earlier model 505's. And don't be afraid of those. there's nothing wrong with them.
  19. Check the timing belts. its very common for these cars to end up at auctions and junkyards because of broken/badly installed timing belts and blown headgaskets. pull the distributor cap off and crank the motor, see if the rotor turns. if not, drivers side T-belt is probably broken.. but you said you were getting spark, so I doubt thats it.. Passengers side T-belt could be broken. peek in and check it out. BTW, good score. Its a 5 spd right? Welcome to the Board:D
  20. I would think it could be done. subaru wasn't all that imaginative in changing things, so the mounting points are probably all the same. I have been considering the same thing, as my 87 came with lap belts only.,
  21. What years are you talking about.. I ran an 87 SPFI dizzy just fine in my 87 turbowagon.. plugged right in
  22. Not hard at all.. 2 bolts on top. One on the bottom.. top ones are 17 mm.. can't remember what the bottom one is.. very easy if you are swapping the whole thing at once.. harder if you have to transfer the spring from one strut to the next, you will need a spring compressor for that.
  23. I like that Idea. It would leave more storage space on the roof too
  24. Actually, you can use the backing plates, rotors and calipers from the GL-10.. but you have to find a 4WD car to get the hubs from.. don't think the XT6 will work for that.. but I could be mistaken.. I was once
