replacing rear brake shoes on 84 wagon
Take them off and replace them with a set of rear disc. Its super easy to do and you wonter regret it. Get ahold of Baccaruda, he might have some or would be able to find you a set in Spokane. If he cant, let me know. I'll find you a set.......I grow em on a tree in my backyard:-p

86 turbo XT GL10
Of course its head gaskets, its a EA82T:rolleyes: Sorry, I have had several of these and its a common problem.....and a cheap way to get a Subaru:-p Along with checking the rad for bubbles while running, keep an eye on the temp. If it rises above the halfway mark, it very well could be a bad HG. Let me know if you need parts for it, I have lots and am only 45min away from you. Also go register at http://xt6.proboards50.com/index.cgi#general. Its a temp site right now until the original one gets some registration problems ironed out.

My EA82T => Bob Marley
Yes, it happened to me on a 85 carby coming back from Cle Elum. I paid $10 for the wagon and hastily put the lines back on and headed for home, with the wife following me. She thought the same thing:grin: I ended up parking it in North Bend and retrieving it wil a tow dolly. I figured it out later when I had a manual to go by.

What a piston looks like when run lean
No damage to the block, otherwise I could not use it for a core return. CCR is great. The engines are great, the people are great (sometimes I wonder about Shawn:-p ) And Emily is great to work with.

Suuuure, if I could find the pieces again:rolleyes: But they are long gone:burnout:

Other cars/Vehicles we own
That Bird is very rare and has a uber high price tag on it now. I still miss my 68:banghead: It was my first car and I bought it while I was still in the Navy (75). So the car was only 7yrs when I got it. Oh yeah, it was black:rolleyes: With white interior. Had the 350 in it, but I was constantly breaking starter housings. Finally figured it out, the disty gear on the bottom of the shaft was nylon and was wore out. So the timing would never stay put and would snap the starter housing:mad:

What a piston looks like when run lean
This was the last engine in my RX, before the CCR engine. This was after the purchase of a manual boost controller off Ebay. It was either no boost or full boost. And yes it was fun, for about a day. One good thing about it, my HG job from previously held up fine:rolleyes:

And boosted to 14lbs. It still ran, but of course, no compression in that cylinder:rolleyes: Head and valve were not damaged amazingly. Dont know where the pieces went, probably out the exhaust port.

Wheeling today
Yup, excellent day. No breakage cept for a corner marker light on mine:rolleyes: Those 4.11 gears front and rear make a tremendous difference;) If my shoulder wasnt hurting so bad, I would have taken that hill. Then those guys on top would have been truely amazed:eek:

White Smoke (Still)
It shouldnt take days for it to burn, but certainly a few hours. Is it a AT or MT? If AT, then you could be sucking up ATF into the intake from a failed vacuum solenoid on the tranny.
