How to identify Brat LSD
Turbone replied to DPDISXR4Ti's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
He's correct. They have been buying our LSD's for years now (and for outrageuos prices too). They do need to swap out the stub axles tho. But otherwise, its a straight swap for the Dastun 510. -

And I can clarify it even further..... No EA81 ever came stock with a LSD rear diff. Everyone move along now, theres nothing left to read here....... -

Turbone replied to mellow65's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Trying to keep up with him offroad was even more fun:grin: I think the rear was out of a Izusu Trooper and had a aftermarket air locker installed. -

Thats what Ebay auctions are all about. We've been thru this before here. If you are bidding on something you need/want badly, make it known here. If there is someone else that wants to bid, then you have a chance to talk/parley with them. Dont come here whining about someone sniping you in the last minutes of a auction:-p -
The wastegate is designed to operate after 7psi is reached. It opens the exhaust port of the turbo to cat, to let excess pressure out. Usually a part that doesnt fail. If your having performance problems, it could be that the cat is plugged. Try disconnecting the downpipe (loosely) and see if it runs any better. I dont suggest driving around like this, it will be quite loud. The knocking certainly sounds like a bad CV. Look at both ends of your axles to see if the boots are torn. Usually pretty obvious as they will throw grease all over the place.

Glad you quoted me on this. I re-read it and just realized I made a boo boo:rolleyes: The caliper pistons need to be rotated clockwise. I need to proofread a little better.

I painted the bumpers on my RX with Krylon plastic outdoor furniture paint. Its holding up very well, even thru many car washes and our liquid sunshine.

Nothing's ever simple... (EA81T Quest For Glory!)
Turbone replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Its less labor intensive if you cut off the mounts and reweld them to your exsisting swing arms. And you keep stuff stock that way. Thats a Qman inovation:-p Oh, and the ends of the sway bar need to be trimmed a little. -
Ceramic are the most expensive. I've never had them before, so I dont know much about them. They are meant to last a long time tho. The next level down are the semi metallic mixed with another compound. Long lasting with good performance. The cheapest are the organic. Last only a year and fade quickly under heat/stress.

Not a good idea to gut the cat here, still have emissions to pass. The front brake calipers need to be turned in counterclockwise. They have the tool at almost all auto parts stores, its a little sqaure jobbie with nubs on it. If you want really good brakes, they will cost you around $40+/-. The semi good one are about $25+/-.

Yeah, its just been a pipe dream of mine for years. Now that its been done in a Brat, wouldnt it be cool to drop a WRX into a Coupe? -

I'm not 100% sure, but you know, if your installing a WRX DP, a TD04 would have bolted right up to it. And with a little finnes'n, the x-over pipe would have bolted up also:grin: Or, I could be totaly out of my gourd, as I spent the weekend installing new carpet and stereo system in the RX:-p I shall be totally deaf in a couple of weeks:rolleyes: -
