  1. Well, that explains alot of my problems for the past year. I know exactly where your coming from Zap. But in my case, Sat night was the best sleep I've had in a long time. If I can figure out a way to help out next year, I'll do it.
  2. Danny, no problem. Your still kind of new here and didnt know I have 6 Soobs. When I got to the show around 4pm Sat, just about everyone I talked knew what had happened to me and the RX on the way down. I was up for more than 36hrs straight and was actually surprised I didnt pass out when I got there(Richie, I'm over 50). I was even capable of a respectable run in the Mud Pit:headbang: Hopefully you didnt miss that too;)
  3. There you go, twisting the knife:-\ One consolation was getting those guys in the Toys to shut up:headbang:
  4. Well, I sure hope we can find people half as good as the ones that have been doing all the hard work the past few years. They have left excellent examples as a guide, thats for sure. I know theres alot of quality folks out there that will be stepping up to the plate. I hope they know how much hard work it is to set this up:brow:
  5. Yup, the new RX rocks:headbang: You really got me thinking about a swap. Yours cost the most tho:-p
  6. Not trying to jack your thread Junkie, but yeah, the parts thing. I had a set of rear discs for someone that was even at the Show but they never bothered to look me up. How can you miss me? Granted, I could have hunted you down, but I forgot your name. I had alot of things going on this weeked (read thread in General forum). I did everthing in my power to make it to the Show. This is the 2nd year in a row that something has happened to the rig I was bringing. I may have been a day late and driving a different car, but I made it, by GOD.
  7. Hah, somewhere in the back of the line is me:cool: Nice pics:headbang:
  8. Just about everyone at the show knew what happened on the way, but for the folks that dont, this is what happened. On Fri afternoon my 2 boys and I headed out in the RX. I worked my butt off for a couple weeks getting the car ready, and I still needed to finish up a few details onece I got to the Show. About 100mi from home, on I-5 I blew a upper rad hose. I found out the hard way my temp gauge is a little off:-\ It never got to the red, it never steamed up, but the hole in the hose was big enough to put my thumb in. When the temp started to drop along with my oil pressure, I knew I had a serious problem. I was 1mi from a rest stop and made a choice. I think I would have been better off stopping on the freeway then and there, because when I coasted into the rest stop the car was making bad sounds. I borrowed some duct tape:rolleyes: and limped it into the next town and got a new hose. Unfortunaly my oil had broken dow and no longer had any viscosity. After 20mi it would start to heat up and lose pressure. I ended up stopping off the freeway at a little commercial unmanned gas stop. My wife and a friend were already on the road, they were supposed to be on thier way to dinner. They had a change of plans now. I made another mistake. I couldnt tell them the exit #, I was to busy looking at the temp/oil gauges when I got off. At least I knew the name of the exit. Well, 3hrs later they still werent there, so I called and asked what was up? Wife said they were almost there. Another hour went by, so I called again. They couldnt find the exit. They ended up paasssing it (way past it). I explaind the exit again and where I was at. Another hour later, I called again. It turns out they got off the right exit and went the wrong way. Then when she came back the couldnt see the gas station, so they turned around, twice. They finally found us and we transfered the important stuff and while waiting I had called Qman to see if I could borrow his truck and trailer (thanks a mil, again) we got back to the house around midnight, and once I got everyone setteled in for the night I took off and picked up the tow rig. I got back to the RX around 3am and got it loaded and took off back home, made it there around 6ish. Once I got the RX unloaded I transfered everything into the Hatch. I had a problem with the cooling system and threw in another rad I picked up from Qman (again, thanks) But on the way it was still overheating, so I stopped at a parts store and installed a new T-stat and waterpump. The sucker was still overheating. By now I was starting to get a little frustrated. So seeing how I was only 15mi from home I went back to look at my rad stash. I found a beat up one with fins and rods that looked ok, so I gave it a quick flush and threw it in. Zip ties included. So off we went, WCSS8 or bust! Anything over 65mph it started to get hot, so I had to stay at the lower speeds. We made it to the Show around 4pm Sat (I think. I was running on fumes by then. I only had 4hrs sleep Thurs). You all know the rest of the story. I was a little surprised that I did so well in the pit later. Must be instinct:-p Well, heres a few pics of the RX while we were waiting for the ride home. Maybe it will make it next year. Btw, if anyone got pics of me in the mudpit, please post them! Then we can post them on all the Yota Boards:lol: Drained the oil today and put in fresh. Also changed the fouled plugs and the t-stat. It started and ran, but rough at idle. The good news is, I didnt fry the main bearings or anything in the bottom end. The not so good news is, I have to replace the HG's:rolleyes: I also have to make sure I didnt warp the heads. Who knows a good source for the Rockauto HG's? I got a pair from Tex a while ago, they have the silicone bead all the way around them. I want to go with these again.
  9. Looks like I'll be rolling in a little late. Had a mishap on the way in the RX. Its not going to make it to the Show:mad: Instead I'll be bringing the Hatch. Will be leaving shortly and arriving, hopefully, around 1ish
  10. Ok, I think I can handle that. If the road conditions start to look worse I can always go back (ACK, that would be a first. If I was able to bring my Hatch, this would not be an issue:-\ )
  11. If you can wait till the Show, I will be getting a couple of XT6 axles from Andy. I can loan them to you so you can get it towed home. Or else find a dolly somewhere.
  12. Brat owners better start investing in good alarm systems, or keep them locked in garages. And we all know how easy they are to get into and hotwire:rolleyes:
  13. Zap mentioned the photo op. What are the road conditions on the way up to this spot? Dont want to mess up my pretty wheels:rolleyes:
  14. And here we were just a couple days ago admiring your tires;) Good thing you got them from Schwabs and they honored half of it. I think it wouldnt matter what tire you had on, doing what you were doing intails certain risks. Live and learn, eh? I wouldnt worry to much about offroading, just watch out for the sharp rocks.
  15. I've got a real nice Cobra, but I'll be darned if I'm going to install it in my RX:cool:
  16. GD, have all the facts before living up to your sig:grin: There was someone at WCSS6 that had a supercharged 91 Loyale, it kicked a$$. Granted this isnt bolt on, but its for real.
  17. Hey John, glad you made it ok. Junkies right, winter comes early in Fairbanks. Stay warm. I take it you didnt bring your wagon?
  18. You might try a fuel pressure regulator. We use them with the Webers, might work in this case also.
