  1. Ok, we need to tone down the political intensity of this or unfortunately it will get locked. As for the link from the OP, thanks. I know where I can get good fuel now fairly close.
  2. Well, lets think about a date then. Memorial weekend is.........ugh. Week before or week after is better.
  3. The EJ22T has 160bhp and 180tq. The EJ20 turbo's have 227bhp and 217tq. I have a EJ22T in my 89 RX and its running quite well.
  4. Comes in a couple of different sizes in a red bottle. Not familiar with BG, so I cant claim it to be the same.
  5. Yeah, I forgot you cant link to search results. Just do a search in the Retrofit Forum for EJ22 wiring harness.
  6. Sorry about my last reply I wasnt aware that brake cleaner was available like that. Part of the benefit is having some pressure behind the chemical (for me). Its nice to blast out gunk in hard to reach places. I used Simple Green several times. Its a good product, but the $ adds up quick if you use a lot.
  7. Thats one quick car! If you havent yet, would you mind posting up some pics of the build etc?
  8. Shawn is correct, you will need to keep some of the EA wiring harness. Not much of it, but some.
  9. Engine Brite from Gunk. Spray on, use a brush to get the caked on stuff loose. Then hose off. I also use a LOT of brake cleaner. I've probably gone thru a half dozen cases (or more) in the last couple of years. Theres a couple of different sizes of hoses, just take some pieces with you to the parts store.
  10. There should be a write up in the Retrofit Forum, I'll see if I can find the thread. You'll be spending a lot of time there, so it will be good to do some searching/reading for sure. Another alternative to a swap is the EJ22T (much better than the slow 2.2) Ask me how I know!
  11. Much better, thank you. In your first thread you said you paid $2500 for this?
  12. I learned long ago that short shifting in any car saves fuel. As long as you dont bog the engine with to low a rpm you should see a increase in mpg. If race car drivers can do it, so can we
  13. What he said ^^^ You have a lot of work to do all that, suspension/brakes the hardest part. Your worst idea is swapping in a 84 digidash. They rarely work long or correctly in the cars they were designed for, let alone from a swap.
  14. Gas probably wont come down for a long time, if ever. So instead of letting that engine sit there and collect dust, why not sell it? I'm looking for another EJ22T, hint hint.
  15. The OP has a right to do what ever he wants to do with his car. All of you that think its a shame, get over it. When I sold my first lifted hatch to a local he drove the snot out of it, then decided to go straight axle. I didnt *************** about it, it wasnt my car anymore. The job never got finished, he tried selling it but no one would buy it. It ended up going to the scrapper. Now THAT was a shame, but I still didnt *************** (too much). Around here the members prefer to see the actual build going on, then pics and info when its complete. Everything leading up to that is just talk. So I'm going to lock this thread. When Kody gets back and picks up his new ride, he can let us know by posting pics of the car (dont forget parts list).
  16. I can vouch for Russ's work. He did my alignment after I did the 5 lug swap on my RX and it was spot on. He also fixed my rear alignment issue. If you want it done right, see Russ. Btw, I need a re-align after doing my coil overs.
  17. GL's dont come with a EJ22, you must mean Legacy.
  18. http://www.westcoastsubarushow.com/?page_id=830 Better get hopping. I usually start about this time (or earlier) getting my stuff ready. But I usually bring more than one car. And yes, there are awards. Yeah, showing off
  19. Look for Renobs thread in this forum. He installed a EJ22 in his Brat. Cant recall what he's using for a trans, but he Rally X's his quite a bit. I have the stock trans in my RX with a EJ22T swap and the original trans grenaded after 3 weeks of running. The one I have in now is doing much better but eventually I plan on swapping the trans to a EJ. Its a lot more involved then keeping the stock trans. Finding the cross members, having a driveline made up etc.
  20. I wanted something a little more stylish/sporty with more adjustments. I picked up a pair of Mitsubishi Eclipse (turbo) seats for $25 total. I have a pair of these seats (N/A) in my Brat and love them. BUT, as the EA81 and EA82 are quite different, the install was more complicated in the RX than Brat. A lot more cutting and welding to make the rails work and the seats to sit correctly. It took me 2+ days to fab everything, but it was worth it in the end.
  21. Thats why I make it a point when at a wrecking yard to look in every black box for links. I probably have more than any dealer The black ones are harder to find tho, it seems like they only came in GL10's or turbo models. Heres the specs from the FSM.
  22. As far as the lifter goes....the HLA needs MMO. Hydraulic Lash Adjuster needs Marvel Mystery Oil. It usually breaks up the gunk in the lifter and gets rid of the TOD (Tick O' Death). A short lesson on old school Subaru abbreviations.
  23. Welcome to the USMB. While your doing all that work under the hood, you will definitely want to replace all the coolant hoses. Especially anything close or having to do with the turbo. Also any upgrades increasing boost will shorten the life of the engine, its not the greatest design from Subaru. There a few threads in the Retrofit and Old School forums that will explain a lot of this.
  24. I'm posting a off site link because the pics posted were very old and were lost during some forum changes. http://subarujusty.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=engine&thread=3875&post=25650
