Need to rear Rguyvers write up on his Brat. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58869&highlight=brat+swap

Most of you know I'm one stubborn sob, it takes alot to get me change. I've dumped alot of time and money into my RX project and will continue to do so in the future. I made my point I do plan on upgrading soon, as I have a need for speed. And I'm going to do the same thing with this engine as I did with the EA82T. I do foresee less problems with this build than the EA82T tho.

I believe he is. I think all of us might be.

You have a destroyed bottom end because of a cracked head? If you want to build a bullet proof EA82T, better have deep pockets. I know you can get Wiseco pistons from RAM for it, I would cryo treat the crank. I think better mains are available, along with rings, but cant remember from where. Ceramic/Teflon coatings are also a option, but again pricey. I'll see if I can find the info on the pistons, etc. Heres the link. http://subaruxt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3575&st=0&sk=t&sd=a Altho its for a ER27, its still basically EA82 internals.

High Compression EA82T
Turbone replied to twilightprotege's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Welcome to the Forum. This type of question usually belongs in the Retrofit Forum, so if it disappears, look there. To answer a few of your questions tho, its been done by a few folks here. CalebZ and Caboobaroo are the ones I know off hand that have tried it. Yes, tried. They used the SPFI block (9.5:1) and kept the EA82T intake and ECU. It really needs the knock sensor, so drill and tap the place on the block where it should be normally. The only way to make this setup reliable is to not increase boost past 7lbs. It wont matter what you have to cool things or increase fuel, the EA82 isnt designed for this. Even the EA82T isnt well designed for increased boost. -
Newb here. This thing rare? 85 Turbo Rx?

As far as I know there were no blacks made. Its kind of a rare color after 84. There is a dark gray that almost looks black. They made a short run of 3dr RX's the last half of 89, which one of them is mine. -
I see you swapped trunk lids also. Looking good, makes me want to get motivated. Nah

Does anyone have the part number?

Have you tried Auburn Subaru? Or contact Backwoodsboy here, he works at a Subaru dealership in parts back east. -
Only on paper.

I'll take a look after I'm done stuffing my face :-p Ok, the FSM parts book says its a DN Shift Solenoid. Theres no other solenoid on the case, so if someone else could cross check it, I'm pretty sure thats it. #31941 AA001 There is also a Transfer Clutch assembly. #31942 AA000 -
Looking good Steve. Looks like Lil Blue is going to have a buddy.

Wheres the pink? I dont see any pink on it yet :-p

I dont think you read the link to the thread I posted. It has all the info about modding this engine. I suggest reading that thread and if you need to, PM me for more details.

The only EJ trannies with D/R come from AUS. Theres someone here that was selling one a while back, he may still have it (Numchux). Otherwise you need a adapter plate to mate the EJ engine to the EA tranny. SJR makes one and theres a guy in BC that does (Rgyver).

C'mon guys, he owns a Jag.....he has to have deep pockets :-p Look up my posts in the Retrofit Forum, theres lots of stuff there about modding this engine. Unfortunately I think the place that I got my 2 row rad from no longer sells them (Radiator Barn) but theres others. As for pistons, you can contact Wiseco. They made some pistons for the XT6, which are the same as a EA82 and should still have the molds. Delta Cams makes cams for this engine also. If you are willing to put the time and money into it, it can be a reliable engine. Heres a thread on some mods, http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=88249

Glad you got it straightened out, now you just need to swap heads. Btw, a little OT here......but I went to HS at Rim of the World and lived in Running Springs for about 14yrs.

Nothing new for me, except for a few more beauty marks :-p

If it helps any, you can drill and tap the posts on the head to make it work. Save alot of trouble removing it and trying to locate another one.
