  1. I appreciate your efforts to educate/help me, but I've done enough t-belts to know wtf I'm doing. I would like to hear from the folks that have done EJ to EA engine swaps because there can be lots of issues with wiring and sensors. As far as I know, only one other person has done the EJ22T swap and its not running yet. Telling me to check my timing is redundant.
  2. Decided to put this here considering none of these rigs are in their natural habitat. Got invited to bring my Hatch down for display purposes, so of course I obliged Pardon some of the crappy cell pics... Spotted this gem in the parking lot.
  3. I just cleaned the MAF and changed it out it for another one I had. I used the timing marks on the front pulley because I'm using a lightened XT6 flywheel that you cant see the marks on.
  4. Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah It was shipped yesterday
  5. I think I mentioned earlier that I have no 02 atm. I have one on the way and the hole is plugged. Still running the EA82T FP, a Walbro inline 225lph FP is not cheap :-\ I cant even use a stock EJ pump because its a in tank model :-\ I did install a new CTS today. No changes at all :-\
  6. If your a true Subaholic, you will want to keep your old gen car as original as possible. And when you happen to have the opportunity to "show off" and embarrass a new gen owner.......priceless. Thats one reason I worked so long and hard on my EA82T, to show that average power was achievable, but at a cost.
  7. The engines that were EDM had better intakes(heads too?) on them and gained a few more horses. I believe these were exclusively on the turbo XT's.
  8. It runs rough till warmed up. I triple checked the timing belt before I installed the engine. Plus it runs ok until you try and give it more gas, except for the idle issue. It does drop to 1500 when it gets to op temp. I also put a timing light on it and its dead on at 18deg and advances with the throttle. I'm picking up a CTS this morning (thanks Briggs) and I'll go from there. I did spray brake cleaner all over the hoses, looking for vac leaks but didnt find any.
  9. You need the TD04 flange welded to the up-pipe and will need a TD04 downpipe. After that, its a bolt on.
  10. Well, the spare sensor I thought I had was on the block I traded to Jerry. So now I need to go buy one. Heres whats going on while running. I'm not letting off the gas, its crapping out as soon as it hits positive pressure.
  11. I would check the vin on your title with the vin on your car. I bought a EA81 wagon years ago that had the plates switched on it. Very confusing when it was time to transfer the title(had to do a title search).
  12. No, the flexplate is used for a AT, not MT. It should all bolt up to your existing EJ tranny, if you have the flywheel, and clutch kit.
  13. I'll try and come to take a look at it this week.
  14. When we say JDM here, it means that the engine was originally in a Japanese car and was pulled after ~60K. Then its shipped out to where ever.
  15. Is it a wagon? They are the easiest to do. Pull the trim off the side from front to back. I believe there are clips or plugs that hold it up on the edges. The seatbelts (top) need to be removed in order to get the trim off. The visors and dome light need to be removed. The panel can be slid out the back gate.
  16. Repeat after me...... My car is not a boat My car is not a boat My car is not a boat
  17. I moved it here because all the work being done is on his offroad rig. I thought this was thread was headed towards offroad mods. It seems to have some of both so far (Offroad/stereo). If one of the other mods wants to move, its no biggie to me.
  18. Thats not a common failure item, is it? But I can swap it out for a spare I have to check. That plastic vent line that goes from the drivers side rear to pass side front, with a T to the block right behind the alt? You know the one, that if you look funny at it, it breaks? Mine was broke at the T when I got the engine and I epoxied it. I re-checked it thinking it might have cracked again, sure enough it didnt hold. I used a fast setting epoxy this time and it works. But in the process of removing the alt to work on it, I broke my custom oil sender fitting (brass) :-\ So today I need to replace that so I can test fixes I did last night. Drove it around the block again last night and if I get on the gas easy it pulls real good. I cant wait to get the bugs out and really drive it.
  19. Every crate engine you buy is JDM. Dont think I've ever heard of a "mythological JDM EA82T" before.
  20. Heck if I know, it could be the original......133k? I took my entire intake apart today to make sure I didnt have any boost leaks. When I pulled the IC off and out, it drained about 1/4qrt of oil When I blew the rings on the EA82T, it pumped oil up thru the system...including the IC. Not sure if that was a problem or, I dont really tink so. Is the ECU coolant sensor on the back of the intake, next to the temp sender?
  21. Just did a search for TBO............made in China :-\
  22. Richie's Dad owns it now. He can give it a better home than I could as I didnt want it out in the weather. The rollbar was installed by the PO, along with the leather seats, new top and other stuff.
  23. Thats waaay to much turbo for a EA engine. All newer turbo's are water/oil cooled. Does he mention shaft play in it at all? $300 is about right.
  24. Wow, those look like you would have 0 clearance, even without decking. Might even have to get thicker head gaskets. Need to know how high the dome is, then calculate how much space you have in the head.
