how much better is the Ej22 over an ea82t?
Can you post the results of these races? I would like to see what you are racing against in your class.

I doubt it. The RX suspension is just to old and out of date. When I Rally X'd my Imp last year for the first time, it was a huge difference between it and my RX. I only race Honda's on the street now. JK

I beg to differ on that point. You might have had a tired EA82T. My EA82T (modified of course) has 155bhp and 171tq. The stock EJ22 has 133bhp and 137tq. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_EJ_engine#Specifications_5 If you do a engine swap and race it (at the track), you will be put in another class. But you will have a better engine to run with, with more upgrade options.

Alternate Gauges?
I think it was for a 04-05 WRX. The top fits fine, but the bottom needs to be trimmed.

Annual Hatch Patrol Xmas Tree run
Depending on conditions up there, I would suggest bringing a shovel and tire chains also.

Alternate Gauges?
Altho my setup is the A-pillar of a EA82 rig, I think its possible to find something that will work on a EA81. Heres what mine looks like... The gauges are from Glow Shift, got them on Ebay. Dont buy a oil pressure gauge, they wont last a year. I went thru 2 of them before buying a different brand. I also had to tap out the the holes for the sending units for water temp and oil pressure. They are now SAE fittings.

Another Brat (almost) on the road
I didnt split the case, Qman did and that was about 5yrs ago. They are 185/70/14's I painted these before last winter and ran them on my RX.

Another Brat (almost) on the road
I've had years of practice. And the kids are in school. And I've been unemployed for quite a while now. Next project is the SVX.

Another Brat (almost) on the road
Some of you may recognize it, it used to belong to Qman. He built it and used it for Rally X for a season, winning his class (truck). A little about the car.... EA81 with EA71 pistons Hotter cams. Qman may have to give info on these, I dont recall. Recurved disty. Weber carb. Catless exhaust. GL-10 rear sway bar and disc brakes. This has been sitting for a while. I purchased it about a year ago and have just recently started putting new HG's and cleaning things up on the engine. We knew it had a internal water leak and a seized WP, but we didnt know how bad it was. Oh, it was bad.........real bad. Pics are in order of work done. Prior to engine removal. Engine out. I took the heads in and had them milled and a broken intake bolt removed Then I started cleaning. *WARNING* These pics are not for the squeamish. If you have a weak stomach, scroll to the bottom. Half the block cleaned. I have never seen a mix of oil and water like this, it was like chocolate pudding. And it was everywhere. Oil pan full of pudding......yummmm. Oil filter was almost full also. Once I had the inside of the oilpan clean, I had this to work on. The valve covers where just as messy inside and needed lovin on the outside. Yes, even the carb got slimed. I had to remove the top and clean the bowl, jets and internals. Ok, enough of the gross stuff. Its time for pretty. I dont think I need captions for all this. I used a wire wheel on my Makita and then clearcoated it all, it will be easy to keep clean now. I still have work to do in the engine bay. But the engine is in and running (like crap). I need tune up stuff and need to burn the old gas off. I also need to replace the seats. These were setup for Qman, who happens to be quite a bit taller than me. And it needs a good cleaning/clay bar along with lots of trim repainting. Heres a few pics of the Brat. I mounted my Hankook iPikes with pugs today.

I can bring cookies and maybe some other goodies

Electrical Issue
Check the ignition connection plug under the dash first. They have a tendency to get toasty from over cranking and years of use. Maybe check the fusible link in the engine compartment also.

New Brakes!
Gee, real nice job on the painting

Introduction for a long time member

No cup holders
Pics from my wifes old 86 T-Wagon. Yeah, I know....it was pretty dirty I used the same console cupholder in my RX. I dont have any pics of the ones in my Hatch yet, will soon tho. I have one of the door/window hook types stuck into the crack between the center radio console and the heater control panel.

One LONG drive
And the price of gas was from .14c to .24c a gallon!
-
little trails of ATF
Did you check all the coolant line connections? 2 at the tranny and 2 at the radiator. Also might look underneath while its running and look for drips.
-
One LONG drive
Now that had to be one exciting (and long) trip!

control arm bolt won't come out
If you get the control arm off, just replace it with another. I'm sure someone in your neck of the woods will have a extra.

Introduction for a long time member
Sometimes its a little slow here, not at all like Nasioc. I remember seeing your car at WCSS11, didnt you win something? And get some pics up of that Brat
-
Why can I not go any faster?
Might also check if you are getting full throttle at the carb. Have someone push the pedal to the floor then check at the carb to see if you can give it any more at the linkage.

really bad gas mileage
My vote is for the 02 sensor. How is the engine power wise?

One LONG drive
My longest road trip was back in 07. Went from my place in WA to Deals Gap in TN (Tail of the Dragon) to spend the weekend with a bunch of XT buddies. 6ooomi trip with a few detours.
