Annual Hatch Patrol Xmas Tree run
Turbone replied to Qman's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Heres the weather report from NWS and NOAA. http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick...0&unit=0&lg=en Looks like 30% chance of snow Sat night. But Sun is partly sunny, with a high near 18. East wind between 17 and 21 mph. In other words.....colder than a witches *****. Dress warm and bring blankets. I'll be bringing my propane heater and I think Qman will also. Oh looky......my 10k post -

I know that tune, it sounds like the front diff is toast :-\ Start looking for another tranny. If you want more info on what to get, go over to the SVX Forum. -

You need to use the smileys to get the point across -
Well, seeing how your not cleaning out your PM box, I'll post this here: Theres more to it then just slapping a TD04 on. Have you read up on any of the threads involved with the swap? You need a WRX up-pipe and down pipe for the flanges, which need to be welded to your EA82T up-pipe. Then I suggest getting a top mount intercooler as the extra boost is going to heat things up. Look in your Nasioc Chapters For Sale Forum(http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=131), you might find the parts there. Or keep a eye on Craigslist, I found my TMIC there. Heres a good thread to read also...http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=88249 I also suggest you get a manual and read up on how these engines work, plus do a search here on all the threads about EA82T's. I can only help so much. I have lots of projects and I'm raising 2 teenage boys by myself. Theres others here that can help, but disregard anything that GD has to comment about on this topic Another thing is the higher mileage on your engine. If you start doing mods to it, it wont last long, trust me.

If your only coming up to get a tree, your priorities are all wrong Theres going to be alot of Subaru folks there to meet and wheel with. -
86deathwagon has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space.

What year is the car? If its 87+, it will have a hotwire MAF and that can get dirty. Most Auto Stores carry MAF cleaner for this.

Why can I not go any faster?
Turbone replied to Dirk's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
Its something of a gimmick, I wouldnt waste my money on it. Altho some say it has increased HP a little. -
Can you post the results of these races? I would like to see what you are racing against in your class.
-
I doubt it. The RX suspension is just to old and out of date. When I Rally X'd my Imp last year for the first time, it was a huge difference between it and my RX. I only race Honda's on the street now. JK

http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=14&f=29 A forum here that will give all kinds of engine swap info. And welcome to USMB.

I beg to differ on that point. You might have had a tired EA82T. My EA82T (modified of course) has 155bhp and 171tq. The stock EJ22 has 133bhp and 137tq. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_EJ_engine#Specifications_5 If you do a engine swap and race it (at the track), you will be put in another class. But you will have a better engine to run with, with more upgrade options.

I think it was for a 04-05 WRX. The top fits fine, but the bottom needs to be trimmed.

Depending on conditions up there, I would suggest bringing a shovel and tire chains also. -
Altho my setup is the A-pillar of a EA82 rig, I think its possible to find something that will work on a EA81. Heres what mine looks like... The gauges are from Glow Shift, got them on Ebay. Dont buy a oil pressure gauge, they wont last a year. I went thru 2 of them before buying a different brand. I also had to tap out the the holes for the sending units for water temp and oil pressure. They are now SAE fittings.

I've had years of practice. And the kids are in school. And I've been unemployed for quite a while now. Next project is the SVX. -
Some of you may recognize it, it used to belong to Qman. He built it and used it for Rally X for a season, winning his class (truck). A little about the car.... EA81 with EA71 pistons Hotter cams. Qman may have to give info on these, I dont recall. Recurved disty. Weber carb. Catless exhaust. GL-10 rear sway bar and disc brakes. This has been sitting for a while. I purchased it about a year ago and have just recently started putting new HG's and cleaning things up on the engine. We knew it had a internal water leak and a seized WP, but we didnt know how bad it was. Oh, it was bad.........real bad. Pics are in order of work done. Prior to engine removal. Engine out. I took the heads in and had them milled and a broken intake bolt removed Then I started cleaning. *WARNING* These pics are not for the squeamish. If you have a weak stomach, scroll to the bottom. Half the block cleaned. I have never seen a mix of oil and water like this, it was like chocolate pudding. And it was everywhere. Oil pan full of pudding......yummmm. Oil filter was almost full also. Once I had the inside of the oilpan clean, I had this to work on. The valve covers where just as messy inside and needed lovin on the outside. Yes, even the carb got slimed. I had to remove the top and clean the bowl, jets and internals. Ok, enough of the gross stuff. Its time for pretty. I dont think I need captions for all this. I used a wire wheel on my Makita and then clearcoated it all, it will be easy to keep clean now. I still have work to do in the engine bay. But the engine is in and running (like crap). I need tune up stuff and need to burn the old gas off. I also need to replace the seats. These were setup for Qman, who happens to be quite a bit taller than me. And it needs a good cleaning/clay bar along with lots of trim repainting. Heres a few pics of the Brat. I mounted my Hankook iPikes with pugs today.
