  1. Its somewhat rare, dont see to many 85's any more. Even tho its a low mileage engine, I would not do any mods to it. Replace the rad with a 2 row as stated above and check/replace all coolant hoses/lines. Nothing rare about the color either, I believe its cosmic blue. I'm a little suspicious about those tires tho, they look to be rally tires. Which could mean its been to a few races.......maybe.
  2. Briggs had this stuff on his DC engine. I think he used a hammer Really, I dont recall how he got it off, but it was a pita.
  3. Is the search function borked? http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=107887 Annnnnd... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?p=29415465
  4. I dont know what to tell you about the shavings, I guess try and clean as good as possible. The metal pieces are shims, they are for backlash I believe.
  5. Retain everything from the LSD chunk, except the ring gear. You need to use the 3.9 gear. I dont recall using any sealant when I did mine and I used the 3.7 cover plate. I just changed the 3.7 to 3.9
  6. Better to ask XT6 questions over at Subaru XT.com. http://subaruxt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5773
  7. Turbone

    how do I ?

I sure hope you're wearing a flame suit
  8. Well, it does still have the seats in the back GF couldnt believe we got in as much as we did.
  9. How was the engine broken in? If its not properly broken in, oil consumption and other problems are possible.
  10. I'm pretty sure only RX seats will fit, there are no crossovers. As for using used tires, make sure they are all the same size.
  11. Mine still has the EA82T in it (for now), but it has a TD04 and WRX IC.
  12. Have you checked to see if the axle nut is tight? We usually tighten them up to 150ft lbs + (I know the manual says 145ft lbs)
  13. Even the best mechanics can be mistaken sometimes But I have to admit, my 200k RX tranny is still alive. But its getting tired and I know when I do my swap its days are numbered. I seriously doubt the RX tranny can last when it has over 200ft lbs of torque going to it.
  14. Had a good time today, nice meeting the new folks and nice to hang again with some regulars. I'm going to have to come up with a game that Zap cant whoop me at
  15. Awesome kid guys. Now you just need to get him a battery powered WRX next Christmas
  16. Yeah, thats where the sensor is located, I believe theres also a vac line to it. But mine is disconnected and I have a standard boost gauge now. The PCV valve is located on the back-drivers side of the intake, you should see a hose connected to it. These can be cleaned, if they arent junked up to bad. But if you replace it, go OEM. Check the hoses for carbon build up also.
  17. I can find wheels all day long on Craigslist and Nasioc. Just depends on what you want to spend.
  18. Wow, that sucker is really shoehorned in there I'm impressed, I've pulled a couple of these engines and know what its like to work with them. It looks like he made a extended grill of some sort to gain clearance. It actually looks like it fits better than the ER27.
