how much does it cost to insure your 80s soobs?

Featured Replies

I just added my 1982 BRAT to my insurance policy. The company wants an additional 90 bucks a month for it. I only pay 131.30 a month for my fully covered 2k OBS Impreza....

Now I take the bus to work and I drive only on the evening and weekends. At most I will go 15-20 miles a day.

So what is everyone else paying?

Was paying 112.00 a month for my Impreza, added the BRAT and it went to 118. a month, there is a multicar discount that offsets allot of the actual insurance cost.

I'm like my brat : old and slow. Therefore I pay about $290 a year for insurance. Half a million on liability and uninsured autos; and full coverage on comprehensive (don't like paying for glass); roadside assistance, and medical. Not too bad.

i pay about $100 for full coverage on my brat. After the bank loan for it's paid off, I might drop collision coverage because the deductible could be better spent at the JY, but that might be a better strategy with anything-BUT-a-brat... don't know.

Everyone is required to have liability, but I'd consider towing and underinsured motorist coverage must-haves as well. towing coverage is usually very cheap and underinsured motorist coverage is often its own reward.. yeah, you can sue someone who doesn't have insurance, but if they don't have it because they're broke, then what are you going to sue them for?

Just got my bill today I pay 36 dollars a month liability on my 88 wagon. I don't have the XT6 insured right now since its in the garage until it gets painted.

ummm about $71/month with statefarm...i have the hole full meal deal on the "Hornet" sparkster

For the 82, the 83 and the 89, I'm paying about 118 a month. The 82 has some specialty stuff on it cause off all the upgrades and whot not, and all 3 have underinsured/uninsured covereage ontop of the liability. I got through progressive.

I guess it pays to be an "Old guy", I think mine's like 200 bucks a year.

mine is $200...a MONTH. For the RX and GL-10, liability only, and bare min. coverage.

Hmmm....must be that Petter Solberg in me.

$210 a month for libility for the 86 GL 5sp 4X4 wagon. thats because i had a revoked lisence and 5 tickets, 3 of which went on my record in under 2 years.

Stupid me YAAAA...:banghead:

$120 a month liability on my '75. it was the same for my '79 mercury, and the insurance lady told me "you can go buy a new corvette, and it will stay the same price". it goes down to $60 in june:headbang:

Cool, I was worried how much it was going to cost to insure the 78 when I get it. Looks like when I throw it on with multi car discount with the 95 it shouldnt be much more :)

i have yet to get insurance for my 79 brat because i don't have my licence yet but i got a quote on what it would be for me...

it came out to be 1900 a year (160 a month)... this it for 1 million liability and 200 theft and whatnot...

i feel ripped off personally... my parents pay something like 1200 a year and they get full coverage...

its ageism i say!!!
