'88 GL wagon 5MT D/R4WD

stock tires, 25city/29hwy (about, I didn't drive it much with stock tires)

28's, 21/21 (not powerful enough for 5th gear....)

91 loyale, 5spd s/r 4WD, gets about 32ish highway. Doesn't see much city so I can't comment on it. Not sure what tires this car has (probably 175/70 r13s)

88 GL 5spd d/r 4WD, gets about 30 highway, probably 25ish city. Has 185/70 R13s

'85 GL, 5-sp D/R 4WD wagon, converted from carb to SPFI - rest of drivetrain & tires stock - generally 23-25mpg in-town (I have a lead foot), and 28-32mpg on the highway - I have found that an exhaust leak/bad O2 sensor will cause my mileage to drop to ~18 or less, and stay there

Car is since parted out... but 87 GL, weber carb, upsized exhaust, 5 speed DR, part time 4WD. 3:90 gears.

22 or so MPG city, 30 or so highway.

91 Loyale 4wdI got gets about 32 on the highway, and aroud 28 in town

88 turbo a/t full time 4wd wagon 22-23 city ,25 hi way, [ 113,000mi] 88 dl d/r 5sp 24city 30 hi way, [194,000mi ] 86 brat with weber not sure , do not drive it in the saltly ohio roads

89 GL Wagon, 5 spd frt whl dr, getting 30-32 mpg average. slightly lower in cold weather with warm up time.

92 Loyale Wagon FWD 5spd EA82 SPFI...40+ highway/32ish city

Auto AWD XT6 6 (6 cylinder) 28mpg

Manual AWD XT6 25/26 mpg

those are highway numbers. 21-23 city driving.

search the older generation forum for "mileage" and you'll get lots of old threads like this, check 'em out. i just did!

if you want straight gas mileage you can't beat the late 80's/early 90's FWD EA82's. i had a 1988 or 89 XT FWD Manual Trans in the early 90's that would get 40+ mpg on all highway driving. i think justy's can work their way up to 45, saw a guy said he got 46 and change in his.

1992 loyale. Had pushbutton 4wd 5spd. 25mpg holding 80mph for 180 miles on 30" mud tires. Now getting around 12mpg with bent connecting rod and other issues.

I don't drive it all that much, but when I was using it as a daily, my 88 pushbutton-4WD XT nonturbo 5-spd got around 25 in town and about 35 on the highway.

Realize though that XT's will naturally get slightly better mileage on the road because of the aerodynamics...

'92 (SPFI) Loyale wagon, 5MT pushbutton 4WD. 22mpg Town, 32+ Highway

93 loyale 5spd, 2wd. 40+ highway, 30's city. Cold weather, of course brings it down for longer warmups.I want a brand new one, nothing changed but more modern stable fuel injection, same CFM. :)

'89 GL wagon, SPFI, 5MT 4wd hi/lo, 185/70R13's, ~30 highway, 26-28 combined city/mountain.

93 4wd wagon with 5spd hi/lo, 3:90 diff.

I get around 32mpg average to the tank full.

My 87 4wd wagon with 5spd hi/lo 3:70 diff, got around 37mpg average to a tank full.

lifted 86 gl wagon D/R 5 speed.

195/75/14 tires

carb'd

12 mpg with my driving

xt-6 mpfi 19mpg

fultime awd 5spd

i believe in the power of the thin red line not fuel economy

87 carbed to spfi lifted D/R 4wd lsd'd SW with 29's... gets about 28 without exhaust leak, or 22 with... city only.. not much HW

89 2wd XT6 very modded lots light weight spinny things:brow: 22 with lead foot in the city, 26ish highway at about 80 mph... less at 135:rolleyes:

84 carbby stock BRAT d/r 4 speed 12... or less... becoming SPFI;)

I see alot of 20's mpg. How Bizarre! My last subaru (87 dl, pushbutton AWD, 5spd, carbed) went into the 50's per gallon (no joke!) without any sign of lean condition @ 166k miles. The old carb I cleaned whistled like a tea pot . I wonder if it was manual steering, windows, no A/C etc....

8 bucks 260 miles (with some left in year 2000) :)
