December 4, 200322 yr Sweet! Has anyone's GL label plates NOT turned yellow? Nice Ride, Glenn, 82 Hatch, well it use to be........ 01 Forester, still is.........
December 4, 200322 yr its funny to look at mine, with only an alternator. then to look at that with ac, power steering, turbo. looks nice as hell
December 5, 200322 yr Hey Stupid, that thing is in great shape! Now I know that when I cruise through your area I can look for you. I am sure you are the ONLY one in the area with a nice old turbo wagon. Hell maybe in PA. Didn't see any rust??!! Someone's grandma's old car or it came from a different state. Nice ride! Boz
December 5, 200322 yr Yay, I finally get to see it! It looks good too. Cant mistake it for anything but a Turbo, eh? Rob
December 5, 200322 yr gorgeous, that is a calender queen if I ever saw one Goes to show they DO exist in PA Where did it grow up though?
December 5, 200322 yr That's an interesting decal config that I haven't seen before - I like it. And yes - I have seen several GL decals that haven't turned yellow. Got one on my Brat - and I've got an extra from the JY - just happened upon it one day.... GD
December 5, 200322 yr Author I'll try to get some interior shots this weekend, we're forcasted to get a NorEaster so all that snow should make some interesting shots. This was the 1st old turbo I had ever seen, I snatched it up within a couple of days of seeing the ad 2 years ago. Put-Put test drive...I knew it had bad compression...still paid a grand cause body was in great shape. I replaced cracked head & resealed engine (couldn't have done it without your help). As far as I know, I'm only USMB on EastCoast with ea81t. Local dealer (w&l subaru) actually took an interest in this project....every other old soob I've owned...they would just laugh. I was cleaning interior this past summer & came across an old drug store magnet w/ a Tennessee address...so I assume this car grew up as a "volunteer rebel". The car got its name "Stupidru" from when I worked at Advance Auto Parts. We called Subaru's Stupidru's cause there were so many frigin questions you had to ask the customer to find exactly what they needed (so many variations of each model), it was a pain in the neck to narrow it down. Needless to say I was the butt of everyone's Subaru jokes cause all of them drove mopar-ford-chevy. But they all agreed on one thing...that a subaru is durable and practically indestructable...if well maintained. I've had Subaru fever since 1983 when a friend of mine went in debt by purchasing an 83 gl-10 2wd 5speed.
December 6, 200322 yr well the badge being yellow is because on the "turbotraction" rigs the badges and some other things were gold instead of silver just to point it out
December 7, 200322 yr That is a nice wagon on either coast. I like the graphics as well. I have never seen that one before. NOTE; Not all Turbotraction badges were gold. Actually, I believe "ALL" the coupes were silver(chrome) I've seen wagons with gold and chrome. I had a perfect gold one that I had put onto my '84 Turbo wagon. I sold it to Turbones wife.
December 7, 200322 yr Originally posted by Qman I had a perfect gold one that I had put onto my '84 Turbo wagon. I sold it to Turbones wife. And where is that poor thing now Ken?
December 7, 200322 yr That Silver turbo wagon is now Dead? Aw man if so, that is sad. Makes me want to make this one I have shine all the more.
December 7, 200322 yr My 84 Turbo Brat was originally sold in PA, and went from there to MD before heading to Iowa...
December 7, 200322 yr Actually - I think Rob said it's still around somewhere. HE doesn't have it anymore. The spousal unit had a little accident with it or something I think.... GD
December 7, 200322 yr It was sold to the individual who backed into it. I believe it went back to auction and ended up back in Bonney Lake.
December 7, 200322 yr oops me bad then but the sales pamphlet I have from 84 did say the turbotraction wagons came with gold trim but oh well oh yeah I forgot to mention that 1984 sales pamphlet that I got from a friend at work that had it "laying around" can't wait till I get home too cause my turbo will be waiting for me hopefuly hehe
December 8, 200322 yr Hey - I know you really want to buy my seats for your car don't ya? http://usmb.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7906&highlight=EA81+blue They would look good in there I think..... GD
