  1. It does sound like an appealing idea but I'm not sure about how one would go about starting one. I guess contact SOA directly would be the best bet. I assume that these would be handled like franchises and would also be based on the area that you are wanting to set it up in. I have seen where many dealers have been closing, you sure this is something you would like to do in this day and age?
  2. Thank you! Almost, 2000. I searched for six months for a Blue Ridge Pearl RS. I wanted a sedan but those are just as rare, especially in a manual transmission. Its dirty as crap right now being winter time, can't wait to detail it come spring.
  3. You have no idea how bad that made me miss my 84 Hatch. That is awesome you can run without a fan, my BRAT would have overheated at the North Pole.
  4. I guess thats not too bad of a price. The dealers around me were dropping the prices of the '08s like crazy since the '09s was more desired.
  5. I had a MAF fail on my 91 Legacy (EJ22). If you can get it to start up and run for long enough, you can tap the MAF with the handle end of a screwdriver (Slightly of course). If the idle changes then there is your problem. Did you pull your check engine codes? Another thought: We had an incident here a month ago where the driver of a Pilot fuel truck put diesel in the gas tanks and people were filling up their cars with diesel instead of gas. It is possible he got a bad batch of "something".
  6. It happens. A lot of people just assume that Subarus have been AWD since the beginning of time. I got that a lot with my 2WD hatch, "Subaru huh? So it's gotta be AWD".
  7. Yeah it was very slow and would almost stop at the top of the cycle. The replaced motor fixed the problem.
  8. I changed out the wiper motor on my old BRAT a year before I sold it. It is a real PITA. First you need to take the cowl cover off and inside you will see the output part of the wiper motor. The subaru factory service manual says to fabricate a tool so you can push the plastic tabs inward on the wiper control arms. Best I could do was two sets of needle nose pliers, don't pinch the piss out of yourself like I did. Some people have used sockets to do this. The wiper motor is held onto the firewall by three 10mm bolts if memory serves me correct
  9. That photochop is the product of Phizinza's handy work. He is a highly active member of this board too.
  10. Yes! Stick to searching for an '84, many members of this board have had similar problems where they get parts for the EA82 3-door hatch.
  11. You don't have a video of this thing running do you? I would love to hear it.
  12. Good to hear man. Keep that thing on the road, just remember the headgaskets.
  13. Yeah he had some under body shots when it was on ebay a few months ago. Pretty rough sight to see too. That was the biggest thing hurting his auction.
  14. Welcome to the board! That is not a bad looking wagon either. I believe yours has the 3AT transmission in it, which in itself is known to have its' share of problems. Also I am going to be the first to warn you about the EA82T's. They are infamous for blowing headgaskets as the cooling system is very inefficient in these cars. If keeping it for awhile it is suggested to upgrade to a better radiator. What is the wad of electrical connectors next to your windshield wiper motor? Nice vanagon in the background. Remember every air cooled VW dreams of a Subaru motor swap.
  15. Even the mustang has it down. The guys are right. Says it right in the manual that chains go on the front.
  16. Hair dryer on an extension cord? Yeah it will take a long time but its a start.
  17. Posted from my thread in new gen: So its 5 degrees here this morning and I go out to start my RS and the thing barely will turn over, it starts finally but not like it wants to. Is this the sign of a weak/cheap battery? What do you guys do about our doors getting froze to where they won't open? I had to go in passenger side and tore the bottom weather stripping off in the process and had to pop it back in.
  18. It had just been a weekend since I last started the old girl. Thanks for the tips people.
  19. I'm glad you were up the other night at 2 a.m. when I sent you that link. I knew if I didn't just buy a house I would have been all over that thing too. Would have made me a great rally car. Sucks you didn't stop over in Crossville, I would have loved to have seen the car. Congrats Jordan.
  20. I had my oil change done at the dealership along with a coolant change last month. I am unaware as to what viscosity of oil they put in it but I am confident it was the recommended type. I will use your idea about the silicone spray. I think what happened is it rained all last week then got cold all of a sudden and I had some water in my door jamb and gave it a place to freeze to. In Tennessee we do very rarely get temperatures like what we experienced this morning. Not really worth the price of buying a heater over in my thoughts.
