  1. Yeah he had some under body shots when it was on ebay a few months ago. Pretty rough sight to see too. That was the biggest thing hurting his auction.
  2. Welcome to the board! That is not a bad looking wagon either. I believe yours has the 3AT transmission in it, which in itself is known to have its' share of problems. Also I am going to be the first to warn you about the EA82T's. They are infamous for blowing headgaskets as the cooling system is very inefficient in these cars. If keeping it for awhile it is suggested to upgrade to a better radiator. What is the wad of electrical connectors next to your windshield wiper motor? Nice vanagon in the background. Remember every air cooled VW dreams of a Subaru motor swap.
  3. Even the mustang has it down. The guys are right. Says it right in the manual that chains go on the front.
  4. Hair dryer on an extension cord? Yeah it will take a long time but its a start.
  5. Posted from my thread in new gen: So its 5 degrees here this morning and I go out to start my RS and the thing barely will turn over, it starts finally but not like it wants to. Is this the sign of a weak/cheap battery? What do you guys do about our doors getting froze to where they won't open? I had to go in passenger side and tore the bottom weather stripping off in the process and had to pop it back in.
  6. It had just been a weekend since I last started the old girl. Thanks for the tips people.
  7. I'm glad you were up the other night at 2 a.m. when I sent you that link. I knew if I didn't just buy a house I would have been all over that thing too. Would have made me a great rally car. Sucks you didn't stop over in Crossville, I would have loved to have seen the car. Congrats Jordan.
  8. I had my oil change done at the dealership along with a coolant change last month. I am unaware as to what viscosity of oil they put in it but I am confident it was the recommended type. I will use your idea about the silicone spray. I think what happened is it rained all last week then got cold all of a sudden and I had some water in my door jamb and gave it a place to freeze to. In Tennessee we do very rarely get temperatures like what we experienced this morning. Not really worth the price of buying a heater over in my thoughts.

Any advice? I need it.
  10. We will need pics come tomorrow morning, you know this. You did lock it in Lo right?
  11. I think I remember it being real easy to get to if you take the alternator out. You could just buy a bulk of hose and cut it to fit.
  12. Did you have radiator cap off? Same principle as the portable gas can, air behind so liquid can go out. You could just disconnect the lower radiator hose.
  13. You can but that is not considered a flush but a drain and fill. A flush is like 90obster described which involves flushing out the heater core and everything.
  14. I read that the WRC was going to make all the engines inline 4's. That would contradict every bit of their boxer 4 promotional advertising. I don't think they will be out of Rally America though. Too bad they didn't drop out before they mandated the rally cars be 5 door's. We would still be running the GD chassis.
  15. Your 98 is going to be a DOHC engine. The 99's and after were SOHC. If you were going to replace engine make sure its from the same model year.
  16. This is me the day I got my RS: Most recent picture. I work as Assistant IT Manager for city government here. So we cover everything from police departments to the water departments. Every now and then we have to do some work on the patrol cars so I had to hold the guns so my boss could get in and reset the cameras. You should have seen the looks I got while standing on the side of the street holding these:
  17. I am almost positive that Subaru did not offer keyless on these things. This is all assuming you have an extra key. I thought I seen a product once that was in a compressed aerosol can that was specifically designed to thaw a lock, might want to check that out. Could call a locksmith if S.O.L.
  18. Connie, it was good to see you still on here. Hadn't seen you post in a while. I myself have been lurking a lot more since I sold the BRAT and bought the RS.

  20. You are correct. Just push up on it with your finger and it should smooth out. Yes, that is why I kept the spring on it. Every now and then the thing would open up when I pushed the gas pedal too much. Then I would just hop out of the car and push it back up.
  21. I had the same problem in mine when I first got it, my main reason for hating the weber. The secondary would get stuck open and cause it to rev like it was being held to the floor. What you need to check is that hinge where the two barrels join is in the up position. Of course, yours may differ, this was the problem that I had on mine. Here is a picture for reference.
