  1. I have had good luck with aftermarket, as long as the parts have the 3 magic words "MADE IN JAPAN" carquest intake manifold gaskets are the good type with steel core felpro valve cover gaskets complete set with the grommets, look exactly like my NOS set Napa exhaust manifold gaskets with the metal seal ring and core
  2. I immediately disconnected the dinger when I test-drove the car I searched, but this doesn't say much : http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46581&highlight=black+box
  3. found it in the jy under the hood of a 04/81 ea81 wagon, 5spd it has a line going from the oil FILL cap to a round canister about the size of a small coffee can on the right side of the x-member with another line going somewhere what is it, and what does it do? definately aftermarket the windchill was about 20*f so I didn't look much.
  4. as title states, what is the little black box for behind the glovebox with 7 wires? it seems to do nothing as car functions the same without it '89 rx inside is a bunch of caps, resistors, and diodes
  5. It Is Not Full Until You Can Not Squeeze In Any More Gas, And The Level Is Above The Flapper Door
  6. which injectors have a higher flow rate that will work on the ea82t? search did not come up with anything sure would be nice if there was a chart that sid this xx% bigger injector can be found from the XX car still trying to figure out how to make E85 work better http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=803341&page=1&pp=25 I'm not giving up! if you are thinking of saying don't do it, don't bother posting!

  8. windo-weld is your friend! and a liberal application of swazall makes all go smoother keep the trans in, someone may need the spare, unless it's an issue of specific gearing
  9. I had the cut out issue until the idle adjusting screw fell out, then it wouldn't idle, but also wouldn't cut out I get the low power issue when I run E85, but I have gotten used to it until I get bigger injectors
  10. https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html http://www.autohausaz.com/index.html http://catalog.eautopartscatalog.com/autopartsplace/year-make.jsp?PBJ=051012_061324_0584264924_VWM_X and they all sell VW parts
  11. Are you at your wit's end and can't make it idle right? Check your throttle cable! If it idles excessively fast, something may not be set right, check for proper tension before you mess with the idle speed screw. If it idles too slow and the idle screw does not help, and no problems found, tighten the cable. If setting the idle speed on fuel injected, the idle switch must be activated, and a connector may need to be connected. use an accurate tachometer, a phototach is preferred, and BDC #1 is a good place to put the mark on the flywheel
  12. I'm thinking ahead as to when the engine dies in the rx, what would it take to yank it out and stick in the ea81 fuel pump radiator clutch?? exhaust currently the ea81 has complete ea82 exhaust, d/r 5spd, and intake/carb when the ea82t dies, the ea82 will get the ea82t heads
  13. I cut the E85 with 2g of E10 89octane when i need more power downshifting because of the wind BLOWS now I am thinking either a potentiometer or rheostat so I can get it set where needed, measure the resistance, then install the proper resistor I'll quit trying when either A: the engine blows up B: I get it set right C: regular gas is really cheap
  14. is there a way to make the computer think the afr is 14 when it is actually 9 I only got 16mpg, vs. 20 on E10 I'm guessing it's because the computer is always trying to dump in extra fuel any other tips for tuning for E85?
  15. from my VW book, 3 options are given 1.4mm 1.5mm 1.6mm for piston protrusion ranges of .63-.82 .83-.92 .93-1.02
  16. IIRC, the IACV is a solenoid and screw on the back side with a white power wire and a black ground wire it's good to remove the screws and clean off the carbon

  19. that is the idle bypass line you may want to incorporate a fitting for the line it takes filtered air from above the throttle plate to below the throttle plate
  20. use a test light, going from one side to the other should go from full bright to very dim
