Hanging out on the "other (new gen) side" of the street....
It was on craigslist. Sat on the local Nasioc for a while first. I was so close to buying that one. Had a few conversations with the seller and everthing. I was also gonna cammo it. In the end, I decided I really wanted to lift my OBS. doh. That won't be happening. Cool ride Mick. I called to Sean at Rallitek when I was considering it, he said it seems like a pretty solid enging build. Said it would tune very nicely.

95 tacoma 4x4 VS 80's Dodge Cummins turbo diesel 4x4
Whatever. There's an 82 toy with the 22r that's been in my family for more than 10 years. Still on the same head gasket. My 22re has been going strong for the 2 + years I've owned it. Two friends of mine had head gaskets go on their forerunners 3 times each. Both sporting the V6, 89 and 94 model years. You're going way out there though, comparing 25 year old motors to <10 year old motors.

Tire Clearance??? Help!!
ezapar replied to korrupt66's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI don't think they'll fit without rubbing on the struts in the rear. Especially mounted on OB wheels. I only know this from experience. Dave's 195/70/15s baaaaaaaaaaaaaarely fit.

No more white wagon / New Project Started
The whp is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the torque curve, or rather the lack of one. From 2300, all the way to 7k, it's pretty much a straight line across the top of the page.

Take a look at Ken's dyno sheet and say that again. Black, eh?

95 tacoma 4x4 VS 80's Dodge Cummins turbo diesel 4x4
Your dad can hate on the Japanese cars all he likes. Tell him to look around and count how many 10 year old or older dodges he can in a week. Then do the same thing with 10 year or older Toyotas. Not that the Toyota V6 is worth a crap though. . . With 5 grand, you should be able to find a 2200 dollar Toy that runs that you can add 2500 bucks worth of fix-up and tires to. You'll still have 3 hun left over for gas. You could probably talk this guy down, http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/car/455185060.html BAM! You can afford air fare, and gas back home with this one. http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/car/455095214.html You can afford a rental truck, trailer and gas round trip. http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/car/454978031.html Don't just grab someting cuz it's all that's available. Shop.

Finally lifted my Impreza!
ezapar replied to eryque's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDid you re-use your old springs? It looks like it's sagging a little in the rear. When I first did my swap, the stock springs could barely fill the gap in the rear. I put them back together without the spring compressor. Adding OB springs to the OB struts really lifted the rear and made it firm.

The Brat can go back in the garage
ezapar replied to ezapar's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt goes that way sometimes Matt. . . I'll miss that car, but oh well, I've been coveting her OBS for quite a while now. I already set it up with a 20 mm rear sway and new GR2s, I just need to get it a set of wheels and tires. I put the good alloys straight onto the new one. I doubt I'll go tall with th 96, but who can say? The replacement took a little stretching of the budget, but we own it. It's an 01, a theft recovery, but in pretty sweet condition. What's cool, is that my wife insisted on getting another 5 speed. hell yeah. Rides pretty comfy compared to the other two. Peppy, it'll most likely ge the perfect power from the old ride.

The Brat can go back in the garage
It had to be a daily driver for the last week. Found the replacement for my 96 OBS which was totalled last weekend. Needs a thing or two, but will do for now. Momma gets the new one, I get her 96 OBS seen in the rear pf the photo.

Anyone else find the KYB GR-2's too stiff?
ezapar replied to destey's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWhen I first used a set of them, Sean at Rallitek looked them up and came back with: "The GR2s are 30% stiffer than a stock RS strut" So yes, they are very stiff. And I like them, I've put themon three imprezas, including my wife's.

Race report, Buggyroo and the Colorado 200
Ya know. . . I dig your buggy and would love to see pics of it in action. But, we aren't allowed to post up the pics of our Toyotas on here, we get bannished to non-soob offroad. That's where this thread should be too. That's why I moved the last one.

October 7th at Hillsboro. Who's gonna play? (last ORG RallyX of the season)
Speaking of snow. I looked out of my bedroom window and the Olympics were out in view. They are also covered with snow. I want to do that instead of Rally X. . .

October 7th at Hillsboro. Who's gonna play? (last ORG RallyX of the season)
Just bring the mudders. I've got a new set of ATs for the imp, they'll do if it's dry. We'll throw the mudders in the back to be ready if it's raining on Sunday.

October 7th at Hillsboro. Who's gonna play? (last ORG RallyX of the season)
It's foolish to try to predict the weather there. Sunday a.m. you will know what the weather will be like. And then it might change 10 times in the next 2 hours. Truth. It's like sitting at a bus stop and continually checking the schedule to see when the bus comes. You ain't getting on the bus till it gets there.

So Ed. I've got Ken to agree to let me bring my wagon instead of his brighton. :evil Wagon against wagon this time my man. Try and make time to come over to Sean's Saturday night. We'll be in the midst of a bit of a shindig/bbq all night.

Best deal on KYB struts?
ezapar replied to eryque's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXebay really does have them for cheap. I bought the ones for my wife's car a couple of months ago. My buddy in Oregon, who owns a shop, said he wouldn't be able to match that price. And his price to me would be cost. Shop ebay.

New ATs for the OBS
ezapar replied to ezapar's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXPretty much. Not sure about off camber, but it'll go up two inches next week. That should do away with that. The sky brightened a little. Here's a bit of a better shot.

New ATs for the OBS
I'm pretty sure I know just how big of a tire you can squeeze under there without rubbing on the rear struts. I chose 205/75/15s, and I'm happy I didnt' go bigger. They're just barely taller than my 27 inch swampers. With the snowflake on the side, they'll do great for the winter.

Nice. I didn't know you'd gone to swampers. Awesome.
