it seemes to breath a tad better at upper RPM like on the freeway, but i am going to get a 2inch pipe with a cat put in from the stock Y-pipe and back to the 2inch piping on the WRX muffler so it will flow a tad better. and it sounds sweet so far, its not loud enough that its anoying and i can hear my stock stereo over it with no problem. ya been crusing around all yesterday and today, after work that is, and its a great car, plenty of power compared to the EA82's, even my EA82T anyways i got my WRX muffler on it today, took me about 1 hour at work, it gives it a deeper and more throaty sound, i love the sound and reccomend doing to to any car with the 2.2, its not hard, i am using clamps now but will get it welded up all proper this next week.

well i got the guy to get to my work in time to buy my 86GL wagon, got $1,000 cash for it, and turned around and handed $800 of that to my boss for my new car. 1994 Legacy Ti wagon 5sp AWD it needed RF air strut driver taillight interior/exterior cleaning EXTREMELY BAD now i have all that fixed, im going to cut the stock shifter down about 1 inch plus a different shift knob that is shorter, also im putting on a WRX muffler tomarrow. but so car going from 90hp to 130 is just amazing. this car rides smooth, is nice and quiet, gets great gas milage etc etc. i just cant get over the improvements that subaru did fromt he loyale bodystyle to the Legacy. anyways soon it will have a stereo and tinted windows for the trip to arizona. also ill snag some pictures once my mom finds my camera. my 86 GL wagon, 5sp 4wd, launching in 4wd at 2k ran a 21 in the quator mile, the mph was 61mph each time. shifting at 4500, this was running stock Y-pipe, cut open the second cat, and a thrush turbo muffler in the back, and with the stock air box. new car should be in high 15's i hope...

The Scooby replied to jstrawther's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ya right now on my 86 wagon i have a custom header with no cat there, and the other car in the intermediate pipe that connects the Y-pipe to the muffer i gutted, all i did was wear a dust mask, cut it open with a die grinder, and drive a large screwdriver through it in a bunch of places with a hammer. then just pry/break it all and pull it out, the hammer the car back together and weld her up and your done. i have also just done this on my down pipe for my turbo coupe. -
sorry i spazed out, i thought it said top speed EA82, should pay attition more. Shean

best bet tog et a 5sp dual range tranny is from a 85/86 wagon, they seemed to have those more so then auto's, but they went from 85 to i think 89 which is when they changed to a push button 4wd.

i can weld the stock piping, its not hard, also there is no way i would buy something like that, too pricy when i can build it my self at a 1.4 of the cost. Shean

well once again, i got another DP clogged, the stock one finally clogged, then i got another from work, it lasted me about 3 weeks, and now it clogged fully tonight. so this time im going to replace it myself, how hard it it to replace the DP on a 3dr, the one thats going on has had the stock cat gutted, and all the stock welds cleaned and reinforced, looks like i got a project for the next week after work. i had a ghetto rigged system on my EA82 when i had the stock carb on it. it was a stock carb stud lengthened int he middle with another bolt, then get a SPFI intake, drill a whole in the top for the stuf, then use your stock wing nut to hold that on tightly, then put a cone filter where the spare tire is soposted to go and there you are, seemed a little better at higher RPM. Those with mechanical boost gauges
The Scooby replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well i just re routed a few stock lines together, then hooked up the hose directally to the intake, ran it through the gromet on the top of the drivers side of the engine bay, then up the side of the interior to the gauge which is mounted on the A-pillar, works fine and the car runs great still. all i did was get some 5/32 rubber vacume hose form schmucks, 6ft of it, then hooked it to the intake then got a 1/8inch coupling that screws onto the nipple on the back of the gauge, then shoved the hose in, its a very snug fit and it doesn't leak. -

the tires that where on them before where bald with the cords comming through, the tires that are on them now have over 5k left in them. thats why the price went up. -
