Converted to the Subaru! poll
carfreak85 replied to Gravityman's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
I got a friend to buy a 2002 2.5RS and who is sorta hooked to subes into getting an EA82 wagon. And played a role in Wagonpowaa's brat. Hooked Lepetitprince onto WRXs and brats in a BAD way!!! My old man into a WRX and my little bro into a Gen 1 brat some day... -
There are adapters to fit weber DGV series carbs. Not much else you can fit as far as other models.

Well, if you want, I can poke around on this side of the pond for you. -
Part # for ea81t knock sensor?
carfreak85 replied to Ross's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I just ran that part number and its a $152 part!!! -
I just want speakers in the stock locations. I might end up putting in a sub at some point, but I'd really like to keep this wagon as mint as I can.

Disc brake Conversion Question
carfreak85 replied to Jibs's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
#1 = Yes. The dirt and water won't be held in the drum. #2 = No. The whole drum brake assembly gets removed. #3 = Yes. -
Roll call for Jared's get together!

And the meeting destination is? -
I plan on putting in a different head unit and eventually rewiring the speakers.

Boost Gauge vac line question
carfreak85 replied to 4WDFrenzy's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Where did you plumb your line into? My Dad's WRX and my wagon both have autometer boost gauges and mine wiggles a little at maz boost, but I don't think his does. -
Did a search, but came up empty handed. Does anyone know the size of the rear door speakers in an EA81 wagon? WOndering the same about the fronts. Anyone know the dimentions off hand?

Matching tranny stubs
carfreak85 replied to carfreak85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thanks! -
The pump on my EA81T wagon is mounted on a little skid plate, IIRC.
-
Still gotta get the tranny in. Its rained every time I go down there, so work has not been progressing.
-
What condition is it in? By the way, I have my wagon up here now. Its stock, but it means that I can meet you guys in the north end for meets, etc.

We'll see how much of the hatch I can get finished. If I can't be there in the hatch, would it be cool if i caught a ride with someone? -
Well, I guess I should chime in now that I have a lifted rig. Its an 81 hatch with a 3"/3" lift with 27" Kumho MTs, stripped interior and a snorkel. This used to be owned by Superrallyroo, so if you've seen this car earlier in this post, thats why.

I need my memory refreshed. I have an EA81T that had the automatic. I'm wondering if my stock axles will fit on the stub shafts of a RX tranny. Will this work?
-
What about bushings for the front "trailing arms" on EA81s? I'm sure those would benifit from some stiffer bushings. Do EA82s use these?
-
Lets talk about slotted rotors again
carfreak85 replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Would we be able to get these done for the front rotors of EA81s? -
I'll get any of the bushings that will fin on an EA81.
-
Ed, when I install my rear bar, if you supply me trailing arms and mounts I can weld them up for you.
-
I need some SERIOUS thoughts.
carfreak85 replied to WJM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Of course it WILL make a difference, the question is how large you think the difference will be. If it were me, I'd put the old exhaust on and test the new one to see the difference. But thats me! -
I looked this up on cars.com The '98 2.5RS coupe weighed 2,600-2,795lbs while the sedan weighed 2,690-2770lbs. However, I have no data for later years of the RS. Maybe someone with a FSM for the RS could fill in the gaps?

There are no pre-fabbed lifts for any gen one car. Also, the gen ones rear control arm comes very close to the rear wheel/tire combo. I don't know if the 14" pugs will fit with stock pug tire size on there, but I guess you'll just have to test it out.
