Can you drink in the back of a brat?
thatswhatshesaid replied to milkman111083's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
This is easily the most hillbilly question I've ever seen on the USMB... ...and I LOVE it. I like the way you think, friend! -

thatswhatshesaid replied to Twitch de la Brat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
(No offense, but) you seem to be over-simplifying this process and the steps involved...how much fabrication experience do you have? Have you built a forsed-induction motor before? -
Hey, man. That thar is a sober post...I'm leanin like a real G, Broseph!

A large portion of the photos/videos I've seen of wheeling Subarus in AUS involve sand/silt, etc... Lift = probably unnecessary

I think whatever you do, your emblems, stickers, etc. need to have some GANGSTA flair, boiiii! A lot of us are thugs up here in the PNW, son! ha ha

Most definitely jack the rear of the car off the ground...when I spun the bolt all the way up on my '82 wagon, I gained about an inch. On my hatch, I gained a bit less for some reason...

That steering setup sounds gnarly! I need that in my Jeep...how did you decide you what parts to put together to build it? And is it tough to get used to driving that thing on the street with the steering gearing reduction?

Hey, thug. It's Tyler. How's the Subaru? Get that puppy goin!
BTW, check this out:

So...you got any extra EA parts lying around? I'm back in the old-school game, my friend! Woo hoo! This EJ business has made me lose sight of the greater things in life (GLs and Loyales)! lol
Anyway, peace, brotha. Let me know how the GL (or is it GL-10?) is doing.

+1 to that...are you significantly heavier? The same? Lighter? That tube work is B-E-A-utiful, by the way...you are a hero.

So, here is the Loyale that has recently rear-ended a Ford truck (the truck walked away unscathed...dang!) It still runs and nothing essential to driving was damaged...so...since it never was, and never will be pretty (or worth anything monetarily), I was considering making my first Subaru off-roader! Anyway, I cut off the affected area and cast it out (just like the Bible says)... Here's what it looks like with a bit less hood hump and slightly less fender. My Jeep proved invaluable in (slightly) straightening the front "crumple zone"...so take that, Jeep haters. Anyway, I'm still figuring out what I need to do with this thing to make it a solid woods-basher, so check back for updates...in the meantime, I'm gonna rally the piss out of this monster!

And now they start sticking it to the WA guys.....

Okay...I actually LIVE in this state...now I'm REALLY gonna split some wigs. This jibba-jabba (as the great Mr. T would say) must come to an end... Let's fix this WA residents! This is the Subaru capital of the country! Our rights must not be revoked! -

Four arrested for illegal wheeling near Hood River
thatswhatshesaid replied to TeamCF's topic in Off Road
I see my post was mod-edited...so...please excuse my mistake if it was for anything inappropriate in the post...I'm not sure if there was something over-the-line there. -
I never wheel my Subarus, but in my Jeeps I always carry an unreasonably large quantity of spare fluids. Power steering, brake, coolant, oil, etc...because if my rig isn't leaking or burning them (usually is), someone else's probably will be. Jumper cables seem to be one of, if not the most commonly used tool in my outings...someone ALWAYS needs a boost...

First of all, you nailed it, sleddog. Exactly what I was thinking... Secondly, the state of Oregon is one of the most (if not THE most) overall-liberally-minded states in this country. Oregon is also a very "green"-conscious state...making it one of the SUCKIEST places to get caught committing illegal environment-destroying acts! Come on, people! Start acting responsibly! Wheel where it's legal! Get your act together! Here's the deal: I consider myself a conservationist. I care about this beautiful planet we live on. Now, I am not, by any means a greenie. Greenies are the ones who sit back on their laurels and COMPLAIN about the environment while the conservationists (us) get out there and DO something about it...when's the last time you saw a greenie at a trail cleanup day? NEVER. Because they would rather legislate than actuate (oh yeah...I just came up with that). Greenies care about paychecks and looking cool. They are sheep. They do what is popular. Conservationists care about Earth. We take care of our home, not because it's cool or stylish, but because we want to keep it healthy and pleasant to live on. It only takes a little screw-up to get the greenies' (negative) attention...and no matter how many good and responsible deeds we do, the haters always focus much more strongly on the bad ones... As a member of the hunting/mountain biking/gun-owning/four-wheeling/motorcycling communities, I'd appreciate a little more concern for and respect of, our laws...because when other people indiscriminately cross the line, MY rights get taken away... With that said, if we give the greenies something to complain about, they will throw a b!tch fit. It's a guarantee. And they are the squeakiest wheel. They will undoubtedly get the legislative grease. So let's get smart and start making better decisions about what we do with our rights as Americans...or they will be removed from us. Conservationists need to speak up and have a voice as well...we might be the minority here, but we can (and should) still fight for what is ours. Our voice as a responsible wheeling community will never be as loud as the greenies who moan and complain (and, ultimately, have a negative impact on our Earth - and the demeanor of its residents)...but we still have the responsibility to raise up in protest against the denial of our rights. /end rant wow. I'm not even really sure where I was going with that...but I hope it made sense...lol -
